Today is Parshuram Jayanti
Parshuram was a Brahmin. He is considered the 6th avatar of Vishnu. His father Jamadagni had the “holy cow” Kaamdhenu. The cow would fulfill all and any desires. The king heard of it and fully took the cow. Parshuram heard of it. He is considered to be a atimaharathi – greatest warrier of all times. He challenged the king to war and single handedly defeated him with his weapon called Parshu. ( It is like an axe ).
It is said that Parshuram killed and got rid of all the kshatriya Kings 21 times.
There is a weapon called Pinaka that Shiv has. It was in the posession of King Janaka. It took 20 strong men to move the weapon. King Janaka daughter ,Sita moved it single handedly when she said 5 years old. So King Janaka declared only someone who could lift and aim that arrow would be worthy of marriage to Sita. Many tried and failed. ( Sita was a teenager) finally Lord Rama lifted the dhanush ( now ) and snapped it. It created a tremendous sound that was heard miles away.
Parshuram heard it and was angry that his beloved God Shiv now was broken. He went in anger and challenged Ram. Both were Vishnu avatar but somehow Parshuram could not recognize Ram as an Avatar Parshuram challenged Ram to mount a bow on Sharanga the bow that is carried by Parshuram. It is said only an Avatar of Vishnu could do that Ram really mounts the arrow on the bow. Parshuram is now finally appeased. But Ram is not happy. He said now that I have this arrow on the bow, I must release it. Where do you want me to aim it Parshuram? Parshuram asks forgiveness and tells him aim it where I can learn further!
Ram aims arrow and sends it to mountain where Lord Dattatreya lived. The mountain Parshuram goes there and learns the highest secret that wisdom given is the famous book Tripura Rahasya
I have quoted that book at times. It is available somewhere.
There are many secret yoga techniques described in the life story of Parshuram. It is the path to perfection and a keen initiated disciple can catch on to it quickly
Online I saw many foolish discussions and answers about Parshuram. It is a grave sin to not grasp the subtle meaning and ask foolish questions and even more foolish to answer them
