Now this will be difficult to understand but sensitivity is from ego. In Mahabharata, ego is called Bhishma. Bhishma in Sanskrit literally translates into terrible and something to be feared.
Yogananda was more delicate and gentle. He said being sensitive is like walking with a chip on your shoulder. Lately, I have seen a lot of sensitivity. Earlier today, I was talking with someone via text message. They had sent me a video – about a man saying that wanting to be rich without a plan is like going to a train station and without knowing what your destination is. Now, this was sent by a spiritual person. I gently reminded, (ok may or may not have been gentle), the human body has only one goal – it is not pleasures of the world but to know your divine pure consciousness.
Anyway, people take offense to these things. Even when we try to correct. We are all lost in the wonders of the world, the charm of pleasures of the world, and misguided sense of goal of life. A smart person quickly realizes that the world is not what it seems to be. As we grow older, we realize the world is not really that sweet or pleasant. It is full of pain, anguish, worries and failures. Friends will betray you and so can family. Why attach yourself to these things? Stay above it and in your pure consciousness
Now there are only 3 roads, you can feel offended and jeopardize relations. Forgive and refocus on your search for God. Or let time pass and the pain can diminish.
So this is what a smart person does. He realizes that
- The world is fraught with pain. Every life and in each life you will have hundred of such experiences.
- Don’t take it personally
- Third and most important, realize that hurt feelings come from ego.
Now you may ask why is it from ego?- First of all, you are the divine and really dont need these trivial things in life – trivial things like wanting to be respected,, listened to, people following your advice, or believing in the same things you believe in etc.
- Get rid of the ego. Why? You really cant get all the wonders that are at your disposal – wonders of pure consciousness – if you keep confined to the limitations of ego of being a person or identity like Bhavin.
- Rise above these things. Quickly take control of things by finding that pure consciousness and never be hurt or offended.
- Be like the bull. A few flies were sitting on a bulls horn. A few hours later,, the fly said, Mr Bull, sorry we have imposed on you by taking a free ride. The bull said, no issues bring your whole family.
All the divine people, always gave up their ego. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. This was his way of teaching his disciples humility. The truth is the disciple should be at the feet of the Guru and wash his feet.
Once you belong to God, you will not want anything or anyone,, and you lose all desire to protect your ego and vanity. You wont care if someone offends you, since in reality there was no offense to you. It was the ego that got bruised. Destroy it
Like it is said, the kingdom of God is at hand. Why give it up for the sake of ego?
After many births people realize, the one thing that you cherish a lot, ego, was your enemy all along. Yet, we hold on to it
God wants us back. But how can he accept us with so much ego? Be humble. God I only seek thee. If you wish to offend me – please do so. I no longer want to support this terrible ego.
