God? Various perceptions

Tribal : He is all mighty. Very powerful. He has created the universe. But he is very strict. If you don’t worship him you will incur his wrath. He requires different types of sacrifices

Who wants a God like that? He is a Dictator!

Benevolent God : this God is both kind and loving and punishes the wicked. His problem is he is very needy. He requires you to pray daily, worship him in a variety of ways. If you please him he grants you wishes. And yes there is a heaven and hell. If you do bad, guess what he wicked go to hell forever.

Now in this picture, you feel glad the wicked will get punished. So now we can hold on to God. Thinking after life he will punish. Oh what a wonderful God. And guess what, I will give him many different food, pray daily , praises. After all he has no intelligence, he loves to be praised. He can do many magical tricks. And is quick to get angry.

Atheists They don’t believe in God. Science is true. It’s all otherwise nonsense. Maybe something for the weak minded – the belief of God

Agnostic I don’t know for sure if God exists or does not exist. They say they will believe it there is more proof! But who knows and I sort of don’t care

The intellectuals :. They are the Arrogant ones. They realize the stupidity of the above 4. They have read a variety of scriptures. They become proficient. They learn Sanskrit, Latin they want to debate. Impress others. Quite smug. They constantly seek to read, they love to preach, teach others, that follow rituals to some degree and then quickly say it is quite silly – and love to give advise to others.

Mumukshu. These are the true people. They are tired of the sense pleasures. They believe in something beyond the human understanding but want to be practical. They seek a true teacher. They may Indulge in rituals but they want to go beyond it also. They have a variety of thoughts – and as long as they are not satisfied by make belief experiences, they will eventually find a teacher. It is then that they become true Mumukshu.

Even with that often times with the hardship of life, their past karma and life situations will try to break them. Those are difficult times For they. They may slip, but quickly regain their foot hold. Continuing the practice and stubbornly believing in their Guru is the only way. They eventually have super natural experiences and continue their quest!
