BABA AND THE WESTERN WORLD- Part II

Dr. Larry Brilliant has an amazing and a heart moving story to tell about Baba. He and his wife Girija were with Baba in the hills and the doctor was down to his last five hundred dollars and with no employment in hand. Baba at that time addressed him as UNO doctor and predicted he would go to the villages and give vaccinations. Baba asked him to go to W.H.O and assured Dr. Brilliant that he would get the job and asked him to go to Delhi.
Dr. Brilliant was persuaded by Baba to go to Delhi at least ten times and he returned without the job offer in small pox eradication programme in India. Frustrated and embarrassed by constant denials, Dr.Brilliant and his wife Girija were exasperated when offered a possible job in Pakistan. Baba insisted Dr. Brilliant ask for India only. Many tries later Dr. Brilliant got the job of the Administrative assistant in small pox eradication programme. Dr. Brilliant visited Baba during weekends and sought Baba’s blessings. One day he asked Baba “Will Small pox be eradicated?” Baba answered “Small pox will be eradicated. This is God’s gift to mankind because of the hard work of dedicated medical scientists”.
Many years later when the last case of small pox was isolated and cured Dr. Brilliant circulated internationally postcards showing the photograph of the cured girl on one side and photograph of Baba on the other side and declaring “By whose grace, I could win over the small pox menace!” These words may not be exactly the same as used but carry the same sentiment.
