It is difficult to counter all the arguments against a loving God. Everywhere we go, we see people at war, pain, suffering. And no number of prayers seem to be answered. Pain in this existence continues. So, I do not wish to start the debate or dialogue whether there is a God or if there is a God why is there pain and suffering. Moreover, if there is a God how can we believe he is full of love when objective evidence is au contraire.
Here, I cannot give you proof of God as being kind or loving. It would be something individual and personal. I cannot even tell you, if I have that kind of supportive evidence. However, the Hindu scriptures such as Narada Bhakti sutras, great saints like Narsinh Mehta, Mirabai, Kabir, Yukteshwar, Yogananda, etc have repeatedly talked about the love of God. Based on their life stories, I have to say that their actions were very pure and hence everything they have claimed about God and the love of God must be true. I simply may not be at the level to experience or proclaim it.
Now, a smart person, would then ask, if it is true, why am I not able to experience it or see it. Is it constant, or does it come and go like the tides of the ocean? What do I need to do to experience it? Will God love take care of me or protect me? Now Gods love, did protect Mirabai, Narsinha Mehta and Yogananda – based on their lives, it seems it was there every minute of their life. How do I get there?
I will stop here. If there is an interest, I may write part 2. Time will tell.
