True reporters and reporting is dead. All that exists – strong biased opinions and heavily biased facts
For example – the other day it was in the news- cop slams teenage girl to floor. What does this headline tell you ? This must be a bad cop. Maybe later in the details there is some mention of the facts leading to why the police officer needed to use force. Was such an inaccurate headline needed? Why not just say police officer had to physically restrain a teenager ?
Such unnecessary use of melodramatic words leads to public bias against the police officers and they are put under further scrutiny
Are all police officers good ? No but are all of them bad?
At the golden globe streep took jabs at Trump. What it shows its anger and resentment against him. But why ? Who said having anger and resentment is good? If you can have anger and resentment against someone you don’t know how much more anger and resentment do you harbor within you ?
SO WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO SPIRITUALITY?
It shows several basic flaws that exist in humans. These flaws are the very reason why people fail to make any progress
One is : people are of very limited IQ. they quickly draw erroneous conclusions. This flaw is manipulated by journalist by evoking emotional responses in the reader by use of adjectives rather than strictly reporting facts
Patanjali wrote in yoga sutra :sattwapurushaanyatakhyati : meaning all that needs to be done is to realize intelligence is different from atman ! Well truth is everyone knows that ! But the next statement is one who knows that develops all yoga siddhi ! Now how many people have any yoga siddhi ? This is an example how extremely limited intelligence leads to quick conclusions of knowledge of a subject without even starting !
Thus what Patanjali was saying is extremely deep and very very hard to go to that level. All their life people think but not once can they stop thinking and realize their higher self. They will waste their breath in all the logic and use of logic and thinking is like saying I am going to keep shouting all my life and attain “maun” ( Sanskrit for silence of speech )
The second thing it shows is we have a lot of anger and hate in us.
Third it shows we judge and prosecute others in our mind based on their actions even when the bible says ” judge not lest you be judged”
There are a few other subtle things in this discussion but this is not the place
Lastly , am I guilty of judging the media and streep and many others in the blog? Am I failing in my own directive? That I will leave to the reader to decide.
My only goal was to help readers learn their own flaws and continue their spiritual journey learn to read news by cutting out bias and emotional reporting by media and stick to facts. Until journalism matures into reporting facts and starts showing less of childish tantrums and sensationalism, readers should become adults and weed out just facts
This is even more true for all spiritual blogs and guru and so called leaders
