Successor to lineage

Very few people are capable of being a true Guru. A century or two may pass before someone remotely worthy of being a Guru appears. The qualities needed for a Guru are too difficult for anyone to achieve in a few lifetime

What do you do when there is no Guru left?

This is what Yogananda said,

“when I am gone the teachings will be the Guru. Through the teachings you will be in tune with me and the great Guru who sent me”

The corollary are – in my opinion

1). There is no physical Guru in that lineage
2). He did not mention awakening of Shakti on his absence. However the extent to which your in tune Shakti may awaken. Sadly most people fish around in one pond to the other. One day it is Yogananda next day Ramana Maharshi then Christianity and then Buddhism. That takes your full focus of being in tune away
3) most lineages disappear in 3-4 generation. Shivohum tirthji Maharaj gave a long discourse on lineage. Worth absorbing

The qualities of a Guru are many. But it takes a very intelligent person to notice the greatness!

A Guru can be amongst you but you may not catch on!

He does not want to be a Guru. Does not want you to know it. He already has God. What can we give him or offer him? What material thing can be be tempted by?

So long as material things tempt you, your not ready
If you cannot meditate for 20 hours a day regularly your not ready to be a Guru
The requirements are daunting
Yogananda Vivekananda Ramana Maharshi, Ramkrishna Paramhamsa all did that

Don’t have ego of achievement. The journey has not even started
