Between thoughts

“In the gap between thoughts, non-conceptual wisdom shines, continuously.” Milarepa

Here is a famous quote. It has been repeated by many Buddhists, Sufi and in Hinduism

But the quote is very incomplete.
There are many pitfalls to it

First when you try to see what is between thoughts, that itself is a thought you create and follow through

Second, with much effort if you can hold thoughts you go in to dreams. This is a series of thoughts

Third if you stop dreams and it happens naturally – you go into deep slumber. There are no thoughts. But there is some joy. Almost all people in the path get trapped by this and think they have made spirtual progress. Why? It is the joy of slumber. AND THAT IS NOT SAMADHI. God has created this elaborate trap – for the astute mind to make progress and the rest are weeded out. This is the mudha avastha described by Patanjali and vishnutirthji abd other saints. Yogananda very strongly warned against this. Sadly in the rush for self applause people fall in this trap and refuse to come out

The words used here are very accurate – shines – describing immense about of light. In that state. Wisdom – the experience you are merged in God
It is not emptiness nor thoughtless nor is it a joy
That state is much much more!

What happens in it? You are in Samadhi. The breathing stops. Nothing in the outside can Disturb you. The knowledge, the source of all thoughts become clear. There is a long list of things

Don’t go by your superficial intellectual false grasp. Everything and a lot more should occur
