So this is the problem. When we sleep we are not aware of the body. When immersed in a wonderful movie we are not aware of the body. So is that pure consciousness? Of course not. But in foolishness we think we are in pure consciousness and consider ourselves to have advanced spiritually. Deep sleep is enjoyable and ananda or joy. But that is not progress.
Truly when in pure consciousness, the body ceases to breathe
