Babaji was once wandering somewhere in Eastern U.P. At one place he passed by a railway station. The train happened to be at halt. He had a fancy to travel some distance by train. He got into a nearby coach and sat in an upper class compartment. After a while the train started and continued its journey.
Some time later, a Travelling Ticket Examiner saw this somewhat uncouth, rustic-like person occupying the upper class seat and approached him and asked for his ticket. Babaji just looked up at him once and paid no further attention to his query. He continued to remain silent in contemplation. The Ticket Examiner was annoyed. He demanded to see the ticket. It was those days when most of the railway staff was either British or at least Anglo-Indian. Babaji shook his head and spread out his empty hands.
The Ticket Examiner understood the situation and decided to take action. Soon after, the train stopped for a brief halt at a small way-side station in the country-side. Babaji was ordered to get down. He promptly obeyed, left his seat, got down out of the carriage and walking a few steps along the dusty platform went and stayed under the shade of a tree. He seemed absolutely unconcerned of whatever had happened. He paid no attention to what was going on around him.
In a couple of minutes the bell rang, the railway guard blew his whistle and waved the green flag. The engine driver sounded the whistle and started the engine. Nothing happened. The engine did not move and the train continued to stand where it was.
After a few minutes the guard got down and walked up to the engine driver to enquire what the trouble was. No trouble could be detected. Everything seemed to be all right. The engine driver checked everything and tried again. No result. More time passed. The Station Master became anxious. Another train which was due to come by was held up at some station up the line. Telegraphic messages started coming. 15 minutes, 20 minutes and then half an hour passed.
Anxiety built up.
Then a subordinate member of the staff very timidly approached the Station Master and pointing to Babaji sitting under the tree insisted that the whole situation was due to having shown disrespect to the holy man. He suggested that the only way out of the impasse was to approach him and beg his forgiveness and request him to continue his journey without any hindrance. This was conveyed to the guard and the engine driver.
At first they vehemently refused to do any such thing but as more time passed, better reason prevailed. They respectfully approached Babaji, saluted him, asked to be excused for their rudeness, requested him to bless the train and invited him to continue his journey. Babaji looked up and glanced at them for a moment and said “All right, Chalo. Hum chalenge, Hum chalenge” (“All right, Go. I shall come along, I shall come along”) and got up and re-entered the train.
Immediately the engine gave a jerk and the train started to move as though nothing had happened. A little crowd, which had gathered there, in the meanwhile, loudly acclaimed Babaji with awe in their voice. From then onwards no Railway Officer ever interfered with Babaji’s free movement in any train he fancied.
I was talking with someone the other day and he said that during later years Buddha became more material
He interacted with many, aye indiscriminately, gained weight
What could I say?
Such great people always do things for good and Buddha did the greatest good when he was “material”
This is the problem. Fools try to judge a master instead of making progress
Similar questions are raised about Jesus – he was tempted or involved with Mary. A historian in Washington state thought he was gay
Such stupidity should be stopped immediately. I would suggest become an atheist, don’t follow any religion rather than entertaining such foolish thinking
Eventually gods mysterious forces works it’s miracle and karma is delivered to all.
So be careful in your thoughts, actions, and speech
The Master seldom made even the slightest preparation for his lectures; if he prepared anything at all, it might consist of a factual note or two, hastily jotted down. Very often, while riding in the car on the way to the temple, he would casually ask one of us: “What is my subject today?” He would put his mind on it, and then give the lecture extemporaneously from an inner reservoir of divine inspiration.
The subjects for Gurudeva’s sermons at the temples were set and announced in advance. But sometimes his mind was working in an entirely different vein when he began to speak. Regardless of the “subject for today,” the Master would voice the truths engrossing his consciousness at that moment, pouring forth priceless wisdom in a steady stream from the abundance of his own spiritual experience and intuitive perception.
Nearly always, at the close of such a service, a number of people would come forward to thank him for having enlightened them on a problem that had been troubling them, or perhaps for having explained some philosophical concept in which they were particularly interested.
Sometimes, while he was lecturing, the Guru’s consciousness would be so uplifted that he would momentarily forget the audience and converse directly with God; his whole being would be overflowing with divine joy and intoxicating love. In these high states of consciousness, his mind completely at one with the Divine Consciousness, he inwardly perceived Truth, and described what he saw.
On occasion, God appeared to him as the Divine Mother, or in some other aspect; or one of our great Gurus, or other saints, would manifest in vision before him. At such times, even the audience would feel deeply the special blessing bestowed on all present.
During such a visitation of Saint Francis of Assisi, whom Gurudeva deeply loved, the Master was inspired to compose the beautiful poem, “God! God! God!”
The Bhagavad Gita describes an enlightened master in these words: “The Self shines forth like a sun in those who have banished ignorance by wisdom” (V:16).
One might have been overawed by Paramahansa Yogananda’s spiritual radiance, were it not for his warmth and naturalness, and a quiet humility, which put everyone instantly at ease. Each person in the audience felt that Gurudeva’s talk was addressed to him personally. Not the least of the Master’s endearing qualities was his understanding sense of humour.
By some choice phrase, gesture, or facial expression he would bring forth an appreciative response of hearty laughter at just the right moment to drive home a point, or to relax his listeners after long and intense concentration on a particularly deep subject.
One cannot convey in the pages of a book the uniqueness and universality of Paramahansa Yogananda’s vivid, loving personality. But it is my humble hope, in giving this brief background, to afford a personal glimpse that will enrich the reader’s enjoyment and appreciation of the talks presented in this book.
To have seen my Gurudeva in divine communion; to have heard the profound truths and devotional outpourings of his soul; to have recorded them for the ages; and now to share them with all—what joy is mine! May the Master’s sublime words open wider the doors to unshakable faith in God, to deeper love for that One who is our beloved Father, Mother, and Eternal Friend. This is progress. People mate the error of thinking they are advanced. But do you have experiences like this where great saints visit you or God materializes?
Then why do you carry ego? Why do you tell others what to do ? Or make comments?
You are the same as these great saints but carry the burden of ego and ignorance. Get rid Of it !
We want to feel and have others think we are great but why not just simply be great in secret and enjoy divine life? Others don’t need to know About it. Few have the destiny of walking that path
If at any time a deep sorrow, a searing doubt or an intense pain overwhelms you and drives you to despair, there is an infallible way to regain calm and peace.
In the depths of our being there shines a light whose brilliance is equalled only by its purity; a light, a living and conscious portion of a universal godhead who animates and nourishes and illumines Matter, a powerful and unfailing guide for those who are willing to heed his law, a helper full of solace and loving forbearance towards all who aspire to see and hear and obey him. No sincere and lasting aspiration towards him can be in vain; no strong and respectful trust can be disappointed, no expectation ever deceived.
My heart has suffered and lamented, almost breaking beneath a sorrow too heavy, almost sinking beneath a pain too strong.… But I have called to thee, O divine comforter, I have prayed ardently to thee, and the splendour of thy dazzling light has appeared to me and revived me.
As the rays of thy glory penetrated and illumined all my being, I clearly perceived the path to follow, the use that can be made of suffering; I understood that the sorrow that held me in its grip was but a pale reflection of the sorrow of the earth, of this abysm of suffering and anguish.
Only those who have suffered can understand the suffering of others; understand it, commune with it and relieve it. And I understood, O divine comforter, sublime Holocaust, that in order to sustain us in all our troubles, to soothe all our pangs, thou must have known and felt all the sufferings of earth and man, all without exception.
How is it that among those who claim to be thy worshippers, some regard thee as a cruel torturer, as an inexorable judge witnessing the torments that are tolerated by thee or even created by thy own will?
No, I now perceive that these sufferings come from the very imperfection of Matter which, in its disorder and crudeness, is unfit to manifest thee; and thou art the very first to suffer from it, to bewail it, thou art the first to toil and strive in thy ardent desire to change disorder into order, suffering into happiness, discord into harmony.
Suffering is not something inevitable or even desirable, but when it comes to us, how helpful it can be!
Each time we feel that our heart is breaking, a deeper door opens within us, revealing new horizons, ever richer in hidden treasures, whose golden influx brings once more a new and intenser life to the organism on the brink of destruction.
And when, by these successive descents, we reach the veil that reveals thee as it is lifted, O Lord, who can describe the intensity of Life that penetrates the whole being, the radiance of the Light that floods it, the sublimity of the Love that transforms it for ever!

These words show the depth of love and surrender that is needed for God
As a corollary to the article I just wrote, only a guru can give such power. The power is not what you think but it is like a yawn of suddenly realizing your higher self. Not based on twisted logic. Just experience. A guru is a must
But who can be a guru? I laugh at the million guru who spread darkness. They have no power no wisdom and no experience. All they offer is a world of logic and twisted understanding. I laugh at the absurdities they talk !
The road simple. It is quiet straight. Walk the straight path !
But to know the straight path and to appreciate the greatness of a true guru you will need help.
The world. The universe. Teeming with life. The question is – are you tired of the world and it’s evil ways ?
It is only when your tired that a guru appears. But a guru does not say or give – here take this or do this and you won’t come back again.
He gives something much better Higher. He says you suffer so much and get hurt needlessly. Allow me to show you that your the master to this place not a slave Come back again if you chose but not as a slave but as a master !
This is the month of shravana. A pure month. In a month like this maya relaxes it darkening power and makes it easy to meditate. Use it
So find a guru. Get the necessary ingredients to find a true guru. Without the right ingredients even if you have a guru he cannot help since you want to enjoy the world as a slave.
Saints of high qualities are rare. Most people fail to recognize how great they are This is by God wish. Just like when Ram and Krishna were there very few truly recognized them
The converse is just as true. If many recognize they are less likely to be of extremely high order.
The world is not ready for the highest of high
We can recognize them after they pass away. Their body does not decay. And a few other signs which should not be revealed
The fine details of how God created all three universes is the true marvel
This is only known and seen by a yogi.
So far what is written in all the books together is like a child who built a house out of Lego
The great architectural details of god is to be bowed down to
The words of a yogi are rarely comprehended by anyone On the trip to south Africa I was supposed to give a talk. I wrote my handouts in a very cryptic way. The last sentence I wrote ( in my handout)was “if allowed to speak. Not a single word in the handout is without a deeper meaning “. I was essentially telling them my talk won’t happen. As it turned out events lead in such a way that I was mercifully spared from the burden of talking.
If you read scriptures, you formulate a thought. The thinking has a basis on the material world. Or based on some super natural fantasy
I don’t challenge anyone. Let them continue in their way. Even if a guru tries, their ego and the ego that they understood correctly prevents them from accepting a more clear beautiful addicting experience
Surrender to guru has many reasons. Decreasing the ego, eliminating the false understanding, ( a few more )
When all these are eliminated, then true swarodaya arises. Swar in reality is not the breath
Tantra refers to Swar as something else. In depth description of Swar is found in some books out of print
Many try to pursue this The knowledge in books is limited. It never talks about technique. Just gives results or interpretation and results by variations in breath
The technique has to be learnt and one has to have full mastery over many shakti.
That is why it is called shiv swarodaya. Shiv indicating mastery.
I will spare writing the secretes. It has to be learnt with much humility at the feet of the guru
It is a complex interplay of shaktis, tatwas and prana
His commentary explanation of Gita for chapter 4 – shlokas 26 onwards is extraordinary. He calls them the three types of yagna
Dravya yagna – objects of senses are withdrawn
Tapo yagna – the senses are withdrawn
Yagno- yagna the central ego is withdrawn
In reality these are the steps to purity and liberating subtle body from gross body.
If the subtle body does not appear immediately the disciple should work harder on purity
These steps are difficult and only those given a gift from a guru can reach these levels
These things cannot be understood. Only experienced.
A guru can give you a powerful experience. Show you that you are the devine
But from past sins and sanskar the mind will doubt and give up the path
The ignorant and the blind fight with those who have divine experience The person with experience can’t tell or display his powers but silently wait for the ignorant to realize they have not even started their spiritual journey. The agyani has book and fantasy based knowledge !
With realization of divine self powers must appear to a varying degrees
The earliest sign is love for shiv
He has nothing. Wants nothing and gives everything
His appearance is a perfect description of all yogas
We only know a handful of yogas. However there are thousands and thousands of methods. Only gurudev knew them all to the finest detail. And shiv knows them all
He once subtly hinted why other methods , even when shakti is awakened , have not given enduring results
Suppose someone you know or family has an incurable disease. What should one do?
1. We have hopes that it can be cured. So people follow a variety of methods for a cure. This includes following reiki, internet worthless cures ( who are mostly charlatans seeking money), going to various religious methodology including going to so called saints and real saints. Even real saints like Babaji, Neem Karoli Baba, Shirdi Sai baba etc are there but they cannot and will not help
Do not waste time in hopes and desires like that. No matter how much your desire for a cure. They cannot help because they love you. Our demand for a cure and hopes for a cure are irrational given past karma of the self, family etc. There are many other reasons why it cant happen but it is a personal discussion between the disciple and a guru or a saint
I write this as a fair warning. If you believe in God or a great guru and there is the inevitable failure, you will lose faith and love for God. Please dont do that. When our wishes do not get fulfilled it leads to anger and loss of faith. God is not a vending machine that you can say, I will pray and put 1 dollar and now where is my can of Soda? Surrender to God is without any wishes or desire. That is the first step.
In that case, what about religious spiritual healing? Does it not work? It can work in some cases but it is rare. However, it works frequently only when there is a connection with God but WILL NOT work in incurable diseases or situations. Lahiri mahashaya passed away with a melanoma. Ramkrishna with throat cancer. Yogananda had paraplegia. Ramana maharshi had cancer. Neem Karoli Baba had heart failure. These great people were great in themselves and had great Gurus. Jesus Christ asked God to change his crucifixion but God said NO.
We must have the love for God and the patience to endure. That is the lesson. Along with this, you must have faith that you are his undeniable child and he will care for you. This by itself is spiritual healing because it means he will care for you in all ways.

This is the same reason why a Guru does not respond to a disciple at all times.
Paramhansa Yogananda said, with practice it is possible to stop breathing and stop the heart. A true saint he is. He said so many hidden secrets in this one statement
The devil maya is no more
A true guru NEVER fails. Disciples fail to see his ultra subtle tests and get lost. This is the key to liberation – if there is such a thing!!!!

Word fire does not create fire. Naam can work only if spontaneous, full love to God, desiring only God and and there is full Spiritual power.
If spontaneous the mind does not get tired
And it should never be mechanical like people are after they listen to Kirtan. The mind like a stupid idiot keeps reciting. That is not naam smaran
We all know the story
Shabari : was a daughter of a tribe called Nishada. During her wedding thousands of goats sheep were to be slaughtered.
She could not endure it. Ran away. She found Matanga rishi at the foot of rishimukha mountain near the unusual Pampa river. She served him. Before samadhi he told her Rama will save her
She would daily set aside “bore” or berries, half eaten for him. In her old age, Rama visited her at the bore and saved her
There us another version where shabri takes a bath in Pampa lake, accused of polluting it. Rama tries to purify it by rinsing mouth but water becomes bloody. Finally Rama washes shabri feet and purifies the lake
This is a beautiful story of life journey. It is extremely yogic and describes a higher level of meditation

In yoga darshana patanjali says “doing dharana, dhayana and samadhi simultaneously is sayama”. In that case it would mean dharana is different from samadhi and it is not just a different depth of meditation. Meaning it is not just degree of sweetness but different kinds of sweet
There is no book like his book. It is so precise and detailed about every little step and experience before samadhi
He wrote it perfrctly. Yet he omitted certain small details, all for the good of mankind
The glory of a guru is unrivaled
A true guru is exceedingly rare. I am yet to see a Guru of his level in the last 1000 years
Of course my opinion is biased. It is wrong but a pardonable “sin” because it is born out of immense love for guru. Without this love for him ( guru ) moksha is impossible
I am aware of the people who read this blog. There are many other blogs with a lot of standard information , misrepresentation and misguided misconstrued facts
If my words are thought to be wrong or mistaken , my humble request , look elsewhere My case is a lost case. I seek no help from anyone. Neither do I want intellectual rationalization. I do not want any followers either. I offer my love to all , whether anyone knows it or not.
Forget me as soon as possible

Shiv swarodaya is very powerful book. It was written to show the results of deep meditation
Of course , it can and should be used to some degree for routine daily activity BUT the results will not be consistent till there is inner purity
Those who meditate, as they move forward , beyond gross world, beyond subtle world, beyond causal world, when at the level of maya, at that point swarodaya in its fullest glory can be comprehended
People do not want to take the pains of deep meditation but just want immediate results for success, victory over enemies, money, satisfaction, etc
That is why the book was written with results of meditation – but key ingredients of how to achieve it , I believe, was kept secret
To learn it , takes many years of practice under the guidance of an accomplished guru. Without that although the science is accurate one should not hope for achievement.
Most people in yoga and meditation are worse than children. They are like a child who has a toy plane who thinks he or she can use it to fly overseas
The dramatic success of yoga is extremely rare. But is verifiably true at the feet of great gurus
He was the third avatar of Vishnu. Hiranyakashipu dragged the earth to Patala. She asked to be rescued. Vishnu took Avatar.
He came out of the nose of Brahma and appeared in the sky. He pulled earth with his tusks and fought with Hiranaykashipu for 10,000 years and finally won the battle.
This is a perfect description of a Yoga chakra. Only a guru can describe it perfectly, including the appearance as a swine !
For the longest time, Indian scriptures were recited from generation to generation
Overtime, certain minor errors may creep in. These errors can only be detected by an enlightened person
Why ? Since he has experienced it and knows the method of experience also
As such, when you can boldly say no books are needed, then you are on the right track. Then when you read scriptures, you may, on occasion, see the minor error in translation or recitation
Or the person who wrote the scripture will appear in person, tell you exactly what he said and you smile and bow to the great beings
Christ – while on the cross said – forgive them for they know not what they do
His pain was real
Why are we not able to forgive so easily?
Oh he was God or son of God – is not an argument that a yogi accepts
There have been many others who were prosecuted and suffered a lot of pain – just like Jesus did – and they continued to love those who prosecuted them
That is the ultimate goal of a true yogi
That is purity. To be able to endure. God knows Jesus knows. We are not there yet. But they continue to help those who walk in that direction
Easiest way to get Christ appear in person is to truly want that kind of endurance and love
What sant gyaneshwar said in 13 century is very true now
“Like a foolish farmer giving up his old business and beginning something new every day, the man overpowered by ignorance installs images of gods, often and again and worships them with the same intensity. He becomes the disciple of the guru who is surrounded by worldly pomp, gets initiated by him and is unwilling to see any other person who has got real spiritual dignity. He is cruel to every being, worships various stone images and has no consistency of heart.”

The world is full of such worldly guru, seeking money, claiming to teach meditation, false claims of kundalini and yoga.
Should a true guru be happy that they are protected from such stupid disciples blindly following wrong practices by these fake gurus or feel sorry for the sad plight and karma of those lost ?
True gurus are extremely rare in this age ! Follow what lord dattatreya said in how to recognize a true guru
Sleep is a complex process. Consciousness instead of folding and being within identifies itself with a different state of being. There are 5 such states
Awake : we know what it is but what is it that consciousness anchors to that causes awareness of body and forgetting self ?
Sleep : here consciousness forgets self and the body but is aware of a cinematic projection coming from chitta. This of course is more complex and a yogi has the ability to pick not the chitta but to go into savikalpa samadhi. This technique has to be learnt, mastered with the blessings of a true guru. There are ways to differentiate sleep and samadhi visions which I have written elsewhere
Sushupti: this is a state where neither there are visions of dream or awareness of body but a layer that remains incognito.
The other 2 states should not be revealed or discussed openly since it is given by a guru and not for the general casual reader
Who is a casual reader ? Someone who keeps surfing the web, reading things collecting the dirt of bookish wisdom rather than going straight for the experience and in search for a guru. There must be intense passion for God. Then and then alone does he permit the divine power to descend
