Worth nothing!

Impressive. Rich. What a successful life!

But to a Yogi worth nothing ! The reason for life was lost . No effort made to find pure consciousness or self. Or if effort made very weak

What a Yogi has its worth infinitely more.

So my friends easier to be a Yogi. And worth more!

Rich CEO or Yogi?

The forces of the senses

This was in the daily beast news letter today

A former nun says romance among religious women is far more common than many might believe. And it is not just lesbian love; nuns commonly fall in love with their priests or parishioners.

In Ramayana ( the power of senses ) he is described as Indrajit. This is the force of senses and very difficult to conquer

Shankaracharya said the fly is attracted by the light and it flies into a burning Diya ( candle ) to it’s death. The humans have five such senses that drive them to perpetual death

They are the five senses.

Sight ( desire to see wonderful things like nature, pretty or handsome humans, movies etc )

Smell. Loving Different fragrances and driving us crazy

Hearing. Love for music pretty songs etc

Taste. Love for food

Touch. Sex massages etc

All these senses have to be eventually vanquished.

Ramkrishna paramhansa was tested once. Some of his well-wishers thought his physical illness was from lack of sex. And they sent a few beautiful women, naked to his room and he refused to indulge. In fact his power of aversion was so strong, the women left thinking he was a child

But such people are very rare. The senses are not bad. But our attachment to it is bad. Be the master. Be in a situation. Take it or leave it. Makes no difference

I am not critical of the nuns or preists etc. The senses are powerful. Takes time to go beyond their power.

I tried intermittent fasting. And I soon realized that often times I was resting from habit or desire for food even when not needed

So an opportunity to self correct was discovered.

Please don’t walk around with arrogance of knowledge In a trifle even the great sages have lost this battle.

Yet there are a few who have escaped the nets.

Does God protect us?

Not always. Sometimes he misses a small piece here and there!

What is the heart?

The best instruction is heart-to-heart speech in silence.

(Bhagavan in ‘Conscious Immortality’, ch. 16)

The heart that Maharshi refers to is not something metaphorical nor is it the physical heart nor is it the anahat or heart chakra

Are you up to the challenge of discovering it as talking with great saints?

Is this real or a hallucination?

https://www.theepochtimes.com/renowned-scientist-says-we-never-die-so-does-it-mean-death-is-just-an-illusion_2910105.html

So now since he is a doctor people will believe him more?

Now mind you he did not believe in this at all. So it cannot have been subconscious thinking

What are your thoughts? But this still would be only the second layer ! There are five more after that!

Any Yogi out there?

What are the impurities?

So easy to read the statement but did we ever stop to think what the impurities are ? There are four impurities
Each has to be changed and permanently abolished.
If your on the way , the impurities if the mind should be obvious.
Hint it is not written in any religious books

This is the problem

I am sure many people would agree about the hipocracy present in religion and the followers. In some places, religion has become a place for gossip and comparison. No wonder the priest said church goers are “sh*try” people.
So don’t try to look religious. Be genuine in your search for God. Then and then alone there is hope of finding a true Guru.

The priest took the stores in Bible literal. Jesus never came down for him to show miracles inspite if reading the Bible 24 times. One must not take up the task of teaching others when our own faith is dubious

Moral ? Be genuine in your search for God. Don’t do it to impress others, teaching others. Dont do it for any other reason except love for God – not love for his gifts or out of fear of hell or retribution

Any one up for the challenge?

Sequence as per Ramana Maharshi

A gentleman from Hardwar: When I go on analysing myself I go beyond the intellect, and then there is no happiness.

Bhagwan Sri Ramana Maharshi: Intellect is only an instrument of the Self. It cannot help you to know what is beyond itself.

Devotee: I understand it. But there is no happiness beyond it.

Bhagwan Sri Ramana: The intellect is the instrument wherewith to know unknown things. But you are already known, being the Self which is itself knowledge; so you do not become the object of knowledge. The intellect makes you see things outside, and not that which is its own source.

Devotee: The question is repeated.

Bhagwan Sri Ramana: The intellect is useful thus far, it helps you to analyse yourself, and no further. It must then be merged into the ego, and the source of the ego must be sought. If that be done the ego disappears. Remain as that source and then the ego does not arise

Devotee: There is no happiness in that state.

Bhagwan Sri Ramana: ‘There is no happiness’ is only a thought. The Self is bliss, pure and simple. You are the Self. So you cannot but be bliss; being so, you cannot say here is no happiness. That which says so cannot be the Self; it is the non-Self and must be got rid of in order to realise the bliss of the Self.

Devotee: How is that to be done?

Bhagwan Sri Ramana: See wherefrom the thought arises. It is the mind. See for whom the mind or intellect functions. For the ego. Merge the intellect in the ego and seek the source of the ego. The ego disappears. ‘I know’ and ‘I do not know’ imply a subject and an object. They are due to duality. The Self is pure and absolute, One and alone. There are no two selves so that one may know the other. What is duality then? It cannot be the Self which is One and alone. It must be non-Self. Duality is the characteristic of the ego. When thoughts arise duality is present; know it to be the ego, and seek its source.

The degree of the absence of thoughts is the measure of your progress towards Self-Realisation. But Self-Realisation itself does not admit of progress; it is ever the same. The Self remains always in realisation. The obstacles are thoughts. Progress is measured by the degree of removal of the obstacles to understanding that the Self is always realised. So thoughts must be checked by seeking to whom they arise. So you go to their Source, where they do not arise.
Talk–618

The person from Haridwar was using thought to find himself and it gets tiring. This is a commom error. The goal is to find where thoughts arise from. Not use thoughts to see where it came from
According to Maharshi, thought comes from mind. Mind and intellect belong to ego. Find ego and when you find where ego comes from, ego disappears. Then true happiness of self arises

The biggest error is not knowing that both thought and ego existed before the body ! It is very subtle. The technique of finding it is different than what people understand

Company of Guru or how to reach faster

BIRTH DAY OF SHRI SHRI SWAMI ŚRĪYUKTĒŚVARA GIRI
The meaning of being in the company of the guru is not only to live in their physical presence (because sometimes it is not possible), rather than keeping them in your heart and with them: to be one and to be connected with them.

Sri Sri Swami Śrīyuktēśvara Giri

Something about Ahamkara heya

I will translate later

Today 9th May is his janam jayanti

A nice you tube video

I won’t critic the answer. However it was impressive that he did hit certain key points. He was pretty close and missed one key thing

Satsang

Here is something lovely and invaluable. By association with great holy people, the path becomes easy and faster

However such people who have reached such heights are rare.

I have talkef about samadhi and not being attached to the world several times. My blogs reflect that that and that alone in my blogs. Even in all the stories like Parshuram I have given subtle clues about the path of Samadhi.

Where do thoughts arise?

It seems simple enough. But it is not. Why can’t we do it ?

The thought that to destroy thought itself is a thought and after that there is a thought we destroyed a thought is a thought. Or there is a thought that we did not destroy a thought

So one must go to the origin of thought. Where is the original thought start? I usually don’t share many secrets. But this is a big secret. Thought started in the karana deha or causal body.

So this method of inquiry leading to samadhi was successful for Ramana Maharshi but will not be successful for others simply because Ramana Maharshi starting point was he was able to leave his gross body and go to subtle body when he was in 8th grade. At that point, it was relatively easy to go to karana body and go into samadhi

That does not mean that what he says is not helpful. It is immensely helpful. But will be more powerful when you can go to the subtle body or karana body.

For almost everyone, karana body is something imaginary. It is not like the subtle body. Subtle body looks like physical body but very fluid and can change appearance instantly

Anyway there things are meant for those who have made substantial progress. Most of the world has not even started

“Quotations there have been, in superabundance. But what original commentary can you supply, from the uniqueness of your particular life? What holy text have you absorbed and made your own? In what ways have these timeless truths renovated your nature? Are you content to be a hollow victrola, mechanically repeating the words of other men? ”

~ Sri Yukteshwar Giri to a Scholar Pundit arguing on scriptures with him…

A timely reminder that what all the teachers so Guru do. Hollow repitition of the scripture hardly does any one any good. And reading a few books leads to arrogance and then a desire to educate others

Motivational speakers

There are many Gurus out there and speakers. Why have I not spoken about then or spoken highly
One thing they do is inspire. They do a very good job
I will skip the topic of Gurus. They are there in the business aspect of religion. They collect a fee. Sadhguru charges 4000. His asset is 16 million dollars. I have nothing against it. Very often what they say is psychological therapy for broken people. And they benefit from it
This is generally true for many of them.

In these situations, the people were broken and they were seeking someone to heal their mental status. After the healing they cling to the psychologist or Guru. Both parties benefit. Then they promote their Guru as someone great. The priests in churches do the same

Now comes the kind of people that I like. The kind of people that a perfected Guru seeks. They seek people who are asleep. And want to wake up

These are the rare category of people who have made it their life mission – I want to wake up. They are only interested in talks that help them recognize their flaws and seek how to wake up. The Guru also talks about how to wake up, gives them the keys. This waking up is the the perfect way to destroy all flaws of the mind perfectly. Associating with people who are only interested in you realizing your Divine consciousness is what they focus on. This is a deeper psychological support. Not something that tries to appease your mind about why you suffer or give you mental gymnastics with logic.

This process and connection is a life long deal. It is not easy for anyone to wake up from the deep slumber of Maya. The disciple needs constant nurturing and support. How can a Guru give that to millions? A handful of perfected individuals ( to create)is still a large number

The choice is yours. Find someone to mend your mind. Or find someone to wake you to your Divine consciousness and then say with a smile what mind?

How do I know?

Not completely true. Often times we respect a scientist or a doctor. Moreover we feel at peace after talking with our accountant and v respect his or her opinion
So forgive me for the slight contradiction. I am nothing or nobody but the people in this day and age get misled quickly.

I can share what I experienced

So then how is it in the presence of a Guru ? Like your in front of a perfect mirror reflecting everything about you. Like your in present of love itself. But not the physical love. But the love of someone who sees you as a soul.
The interaction is always one on one. Not in front of a million people.
Such Guru are rare. Few can recognize them and fewer can absorb their blessings. The sun shines every where but is reflected in water
My goal is to remind you the need for purity. Then and only then will you benefit with the perfect Guru. Otherwise your flaws will prevent you from knowing him.

So simple

So simple. Stop identifying yourself with thoughts. But yet so difficult to do. Why is it difficult? From habit from many births. And we support the habit by our desires. **The soul battles for a long time – the desire to enjoy versus desire for liberation **

True sign of a perfected yogi

Here Ramana Maharshi has revealed many deep secrets.

How to destroy karma and destiny is a good one. It seems easy to do but – but if you are honest with yourself you will realize your not able to do either technique

Sri Khanna: The jiva (individual soul) is said to be mind plus illumination. What is it that desires Self-realization and what is it that obstructs our path to Self-realization? It is said that the mind obstructs and the illumination helps.

Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi: Although we describe the jiva (individual soul) as mind plus the reflected light of the Self, in actual practice, in life, you cannot separate the two, just as, in the illustrations we used yesterday, you can’t separate cloth and whiteness in a white cloth or fire and iron in a red-hot rod. The mind can do nothing by itself. It emerges only with the illumination and can do no action, good or bad, except with the illumination. But while the illumination is always there, enabling the mind to act well or ill, the pleasure or pain resulting from such action is not felt by the illumination, just as when you hammer a red-hot rod it is not the fire but the iron that gets the hammering.

Sri Khanna: Is there destiny? And if what is destined to happen will happen is there any use in prayer or effort or should we just remain idle?

Bhagavan Sri Ramana: There are only two ways to conquer destiny or be independent of it. One is to enquire for whom is this destiny and discover that only the ego is bound by destiny and not the Self, and that the ego is non-existent. The other way is to kill the ego by completely surrendering to the Lord, by realizing one’s helplessness and saying all the time: ‘Not I but Thou, oh Lord!’, and giving up all sense of ‘I’ and ‘mine’ and leaving it to the Lord to do what he likes with you. Surrender can never be regarded as complete so long as the devotee wants this or that from the Lord. True surrender is love of God for the sake of love and nothing else, not even for the sake of salvation. In other words, complete effacement of the ego is necessary to conquer destiny, whether you achieve this effacement through Self-enquiry or through bhakti-marga (path of devotion or love).

Sri Khanna: Are our prayers granted?

Bhagavan Sri Ramana: Yes, they are granted. No thought will go in vain. Every thought will produce its effect some time or other. Thought-force will never go in vain.

A friendly reminder from autobiography of a Yogi

(Sri Yukteshwar) : When a soul is out of the cocoon of the three bodies it escapes forever from the law of relativity and becomes the ineffable Ever-Existent.

Behold the butterfly of Omnipresence, its wings etched with stars and moons and suns! The soul expanded into Spirit remains alone in the region of light-less light, darkless dark, thoughtless thought, intoxicated with its ecstasy of joy in God’s dream of cosmic creation.”

( Sri Yogananda) : “A free soul!” I ejaculated in awe.

Excerpt from Autobiography of a Yogi
(Chapter 43: The Resurrection of Sri Yukteswar)

One has to experience all three bodies individually before one can have the lofty vision of liberation

Very few souls reach that height.

They have to be experienced while in this body. Not after death

Sorry. I misspoke. They have to be mastered while in this body

People talk about the height but forget the smaller steps

One has to learn to walk and crawl before you can fly a plane

Such masters are the true Guru. Most people are quite insignificant in their progress compared to them

It’s all the same isn’t it?

https://drbhavindave.blog/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/IMG_0874-1.mp4

So if all is God, are you like the palatable pizza crust, no longer attached to the stone ( Maya ) or like the ugly dough, stuck to Maya and getting grated by the steel spatula ( karma )?

Are you trying to get beyond karma?

Parshuram Jayanti

Today is Parshuram Jayanti

Parshuram was a Brahmin. He is considered the 6th avatar of Vishnu. His father Jamadagni had the “holy cow” Kaamdhenu. The cow would fulfill all and any desires. The king heard of it and fully took the cow. Parshuram heard of it. He is considered to be a atimaharathi – greatest warrier of all times. He challenged the king to war and single handedly defeated him with his weapon called Parshu. ( It is like an axe ).

It is said that Parshuram killed and got rid of all the kshatriya Kings 21 times.

There is a weapon called Pinaka that Shiv has. It was in the posession of King Janaka. It took 20 strong men to move the weapon. King Janaka daughter ,Sita moved it single handedly when she said 5 years old. So King Janaka declared only someone who could lift and aim that arrow would be worthy of marriage to Sita. Many tried and failed. ( Sita was a teenager) finally Lord Rama lifted the dhanush ( now ) and snapped it. It created a tremendous sound that was heard miles away.

Parshuram heard it and was angry that his beloved God Shiv now was broken. He went in anger and challenged Ram. Both were Vishnu avatar but somehow Parshuram could not recognize Ram as an Avatar Parshuram challenged Ram to mount a bow on Sharanga the bow that is carried by Parshuram. It is said only an Avatar of Vishnu could do that Ram really mounts the arrow on the bow. Parshuram is now finally appeased. But Ram is not happy. He said now that I have this arrow on the bow, I must release it. Where do you want me to aim it Parshuram? Parshuram asks forgiveness and tells him aim it where I can learn further!

Ram aims arrow and sends it to mountain where Lord Dattatreya lived. The mountain Parshuram goes there and learns the highest secret that wisdom given is the famous book Tripura Rahasya

I have quoted that book at times. It is available somewhere.

There are many secret yoga techniques described in the life story of Parshuram. It is the path to perfection and a keen initiated disciple can catch on to it quickly

Online I saw many foolish discussions and answers about Parshuram. It is a grave sin to not grasp the subtle meaning and ask foolish questions and even more foolish to answer them

A better video – Says it all

What is Bhakti? ( devotion to God )

Being completely absorbed in ātma-niṣṭhā [self-abidance], giving not even the slightest room to the rising of any thought other than ātma-cintanā [self-thought or self-attentiveness], alone is giving oneself to God. Even though we place whatever amount of burden upon God, that entire amount he will bear. Since one paramēśvara śakti [supreme ruling power or power of God] is driving all activities*, instead of yielding to it why should we always think, ‘it is necessary to act in this way; it is necessary to act in that way’? Though we know that the train is going bearing all the burdens, why should we who go travelling in it suffer bearing our small luggage on our head instead of remaining happily leaving it placed on that [train]?

(‘Nāṉār?’ [‘Who Am I?’], 13th Paragraph)

[everything that happens in this world]

Translation by Michael James

However it is difficult for many reasons

1. The mind is not trained to be vacant

2. When the mind turns inward it is goes to a make belief imaginative God. That God cannot give real lasting peace or joy

3. The mind even when it touches the source wants to manipulate God for personal desires.

4. Even when that is overcome, the mind makes that a drab routine. In frustration

But it is amazing few if any teacher Guru or blog talks about the 5 ways God manifests!

Easier said than done

Ramana Maharshi was asked

Q : Of the devotees, who is the greatest ?

Bagawan : He who gives himself up to the Self that is God is the most excellent devotee.

Giving one’s self up to God means remaining constantly in the Self without giving room for the rise of any thoughts other than that of the Self.

Whatever burdens are thrown on God, He bears them.

Since the supreme power of God makes all things move, why should we, without submitting ourselves to it, constantly worry ourselves with thoughts as to what should be done and how, and what should not be done and how not?

We know that the train carries all loads, so after getting on it why should we carry our small luggage on our head to our discomfort, instead of putting it down in the train and feeling at ease?

.
From: Sri Ramana Maharshi: Who Am I ?.

In Yoga Darshan it was said very simply
Pranidham iti
However it takes decades or longer to get there
The mind from habit will keep thinking or worrying

It takes only a fraction of a second for all the accumulated information to evaporate during difficulty. For example your driving. The cop turns the flashers on. You did nothing wrong and for a second your heart skips a beat or two. Maybe longer. Or someone calls you terrible names. Easily a day or two is lost in anger.

And it does not even have to concern you. Take the politicians who lie. And make fortunes with kick back from other companies ( the family of the politicians get high paying jobs from those companies) or they get 180,000 a year for the rest of their life ( and they ran the country to a 22 trillion dollar debt ). They all create anger in one way or the other. We know those things are wrong. But it does not concern us. Yet we are upset

So staying calm and surrendered is not easy

Those who can are the people who can understand volumes of awareness just by one word of a Guru

Guru -shishya ( disciple )

In general we may think we are an ideal disciple. But that is not true. An ideal disciple of fully surrendered to a Guru ( who has a body ).

Suck a disciple instantly understands everything the Guru says in a word or sentence

Take the previous example of Ramana. He made a simple statement of name and form. Actually the depth is instantly recognized by a true surrendered disciple or by another enlightened person.

So how is it that one word of a Guru and disciple instantly gets the meaning enough to fill an encyclopedia? Simple. Both are beyond the concept of time. So it may seem instant to us.

This is a deep secret between Guru Shishya. Extremely rare to find this

A simple statement

There are many deeper meanings. I will explain the superficial meanings in public

This world that we see will cause pain. It has name and form. This is an inevitable truth. Don’t just know it – let your mind accept it Once your mind accepts it, get out of it

There are unseen worlds also. Heaven. Hell. They have name and form. Don’t crave it. It also will cause pain ( truly. You just don’t know it )

Your mind creates name and form. Fear of future, creating expectations, trying to figure out intentions of other people, when wet get hurt or offended, thoughts of retaliation, contemplating an interview, travel plans etc. Every thought you have will create a name and form. This is the one thing you have control over.

So control your thoughts. There is deeper meaning which is only known to an awakened person

From Yogananda

Always associate with those who are loyal to God and the Great Gurus and you will find your life becoming the highest type of life. Be true to the truth of Self-Realization [Yogoda Satsanga] teachings and you shall find your life filled with the glory of Spirit, with the effulgence of the Almighty.

Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda

So what Yogananda said is – true to his teachings. Not to the organization. Right now there is no guru of the caliber of Yogananda

Reading what he wrote is very good. But be clear of aim. God. You can worship a true Guru. They are rare to meet But not others

But one must associate constantly with those on the path sincerely. With love for God.

The ultimate

So this is prashno upanishad. One of the shortest Veda. Universal life current is Prana.

What does he mean by this ? Everything is part of Divine plan for an enlightened!

An interesting ad –

This ad is fake. But interesting

Interesting. Why is it spiritual ?

It’s a clue to spiritual progress. One must constantly be within ( looking down ) and not looking out ( looking up ). And remain within and learning the world before it unfolds

Now go find a blog or guru that will teach you that !

Two ornaments were discussing

The two ornaments vase and ball were jealous of each other. They talked and argued and fought and then made up Then they fought again. This went on for a long time. Finally someone very wise told them essentially you both are the same

Now both ornaments were ” enlightened” and both of them disregarded the differences of shape and color and went about telling everyone that everything is the same and no reason to argue. However, they kept saying differences in shape and size and color and constantly deluded themselves

Finally the wise Guru came back and scolded them. You both wasted time as fools. This is what I meant. You both come from the same material. Glass. But you have to knows yourself first as glass.

Now both vase and ball kept telling everyone – I am the glass and I am perfect. I know it all. However they could not understand how silica looks like glass!

The Guru came back one final time and said listen , there are many steps that happen before silica becomes a case or ball. Until you know and master all steps you have no right to say your Glass. All y can constantly do is say someday I will work hard to realize I am glass and this is how it happened

And the Guru showed them the steps

The point is – there are many paths – which just give the goal. Your spirit or consciousness or Divine and people blindly follow but don’t know or experience the steps that occur in between

Just merely thinking your not thoughts or following where thoughts come from is very complex

Anyway enough said

Life story of Shankarachrya in few minutes

All achieved and perfection by the age of 5

A little drawing

Curiously, a perfected person….

So while all the so called knowledgeable learned people are in public “teaching and helping”others those who are perfected are those who truly help but do it so differently that it eludes most people

Talking and preaching helps no one. Even though you may know what it is to be achieved our slavery to the mind prevents us from reaching it

What needs to be learnt is how to escape from the slavery.

A perfected person is so deep in meditation he is incapable of seeing anything but the Divine. In that depth he can help anyone perfectly in a fraction of a second. Like Jesal and Toral. Why would he leave that infinite bliss to “help” ? He simply does not. So teaching. No lectures. Nothing.

But he patently waits for someone ready ! And waits for decades for one person to approach him and ask for that Divine bliss ! He simply gives it easier than giving a penny and walks away.

Like Babaji gave to Shyam Charan Lahiri. Just one meeting. And it was done. No lectures. Nothing

And that is a Guru. And that is a disciple.

Rest of the world – a royal tragedy.

In spite of me saying this repeatedly, your mind – from slavery to wrong concepts – will go back to trying to understand, listening to words of wisdom, dissection of scriptures and understanding holy books . Sad. Why not just go for experience? Why think you crave experience when deep down you want to tell others about it? That is like saying I want to experience God as infinite but God is not everywhere! Foolish isn’t it?

The great saints repeatedly say – that thing is amazing. Worth achieving! No takers though

Born into slavery

We have all read horror stories about people born in slavery. How they are constantly abused

Recently there was the story of an African American girl – the last known slave and died a week ago – was abducted and bought from Africa. ( Story starts in late 1800) and she was forced to ” marry” on the ship and worked as a slave

Now, the story is sad and we don’t know how much physical and emotional anguish they had to endure. But there is another slavery your familiar with. That is almost all humans my friend. When born they are both with a tremendous load of karma. They cannot escape from is shackles. And as soon as they have the body, they are now slaves to the senses. To the mind. To their indigence. To their ego. All day and night they are forced to work day in and day out. Wake up – breakfast, lunch dinner, work, chores, need money, wanting power, Fame , appreciation etc. And sleep is a demand imposed upon you by the body.

So all are born in slavery. Few want to wake up to know their Divine self. They may think they want to wake up. But the effort is extremely mild. And our goals and thoughts of future are mostly physical- travel , events, shows, pleasure. All part of mental slavery. Who can stop their mind at will? Still a slave to your mind.

Many will not like it or accept it. But times change and when under stress you try to switch the mind off and you fail. And you realize your helplessly trapped.

So I urge don’t be trapped. Try. Try again. Like the matrix. Great beings are waiting on the other side

Slavery is ugly. Please don’t succumb to it

Songs

There are many types of music and songs I won’t even discuss the higher music that Beethoven may have heard

The music that is very prevalent is the music in every country. Sung in Rap, rock and roll, etc and sung in movies. Everyone is crazy about them. The lyrics occasionally have meaning. May even make some intellectual sense. But yet they are not spiritual

There are two categories of spiritual music. Those that belong to the scripture and may have and give spiritual power

Then there is the spiritual songs written by Gyani. They are incredible. They give step by step information about the milestones in spiritual progress. They are abundantly present in GuJarati and Hindi. Possible in other Indian languages

Some of them guide. Those songs are called tattvagyana bhajan

kabirs songs are of That category

Also Omar Khayam

Also the quotes by Rumi.

However the bhajan by the Gyani are long. Can be several pages long. With instructions

Isn’t it sad that such a great heritage and no one is interested ?

Why is there rebirth?

From Wikipedia. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makara_(Hindu_mythology)

Simple. You wanted it. You have a long list of dates that are not fulfilled. Travel, food, sex, Fame, power, money, to be a religious teacher- so much. In between every so often, God let’s your negative karma surface and enduring the pain you create a desire of not wanting to come back. So of all the desires that you have created – that is the one desire that helps you ! Pain ( emotional pain )in reality is your friend. It brings out the desire for liberation. That is the famous shark in Hindu Mythology called Makar ( mentioned in Gita )

So until all other desires are worked out you simply cannot escape. (From all past births )

This is a huge deal. You don’t even remember your desires from last week – how will you eliminate those from past births?

There are a few ways to work out desires. However those options are available to those under the guidance of a Guru. Yogananda has mentioned them

The above figure depicts the desire of liberation the shark with a Goddess ( of course ! That desires is saving you )

Really nice but some mumbo jumbo. Positive thinking

I am going to share a really interesting video. Positive thinking. Not exactly science yet but the general concept could be true. Worth 10 min of your time

What I can say is that the true depth of how it turns works is much more complex than described

Since they fail to account that there is the sukshma and karana worlds

Easy to misunderstand – Ashtavakra Gita

I have to warn you – reading the next statements may shatter your faith in Advaita

Ashtavakra Gita is not for children. Even the most spiritually advanced would struggle trying to explain it

Finds no fault with himself – himself is not the personal body but refers to the vision that everything is Atman – God pure consciousness. Now comes the more ” Earth shattering” He sees it as perfect. Without fault. Now, how can you or anyone see the evil in the world as perfect? All the slavery, theft, rape, murder, children getting abused, unfairness in life, the atrocities of rulers etc. And the person of knowledge or wisdom sees it as perfect / without fault?????

Therin lies my problem with all religions. All these religions and speakers, orators, guides, and wise people, priests, etc how can they ever say that all is without blemish?

On the other hand Ashtavakra Gita is one of the highest. This is the teaching that Janak Raja ( king ) got after he had constant realization that he is pure consciousness!

So my humble request is please try to purify yourself first. Get rid of the evil in you. Your anger is the evil in you. Your selfishness is the evil in you. Your love for money is the evil in you. The lack of faith in God is the evil in you. The doubts are the evil in you. The impatience in reaching God is the evil in you. Oh the list is long

Reading my blog is a total waste of time. I have not written anything important or worthwhile. So please take your interest elsewhere. Someday I will stop.

Recipe for happiness from Yogananda

Happiness depends to some extent upon external conditions, but chiefly upon mental attitudes. In order to be happy one should have good health, a well-balanced mind, a prosperous life, the right work, a thankful heart, and above all, wisdom or knowledge of God.

Paramahansa Yogananda

Stores to get ingredients

External Conditions : often determined by past karma. Do good now.

Mental attitude : constantly strive for Good company by reading scriptures, books by Brahma Gyanis and talking with those who have a true Guru. My suggestions of books are : muktashastra, yogamruta, mahayoga vigyana by Yogendra Vigyani, Saundarya Lahiri by Vishnutirthji, sadhan shikhar by Shivhum tirthji, complete works of Vivekananda, Gyaneshwari Gita, God talks with Arjuna by Yogananda, holy science by Yukteshwar, other books by Yogananda, integral yoga by Aurobindo. I include the works of shankaracharya as scriptures. These books have to bed read 4-5 times

Good health : healthy food and good karma. No meat for sure. Good BMI. exercise. No intoxicating drinks

Wisdom of God : Find a real Guru

Translation issues

Like ullam, there are many other words that cannot be translated into English without losing the meaning

The reason is that the original words were in Sanskrit and was meant to describe an experience not a literal meaning

Words included in this are Pranidham ( surrender), prana ( does not mean breath) Asana ( similar to posture but not really ), ahamkara ( loosely ego ), antaskarana , etc

Even the words dharana, dhayana , samadhi have deeper meaning -many with a loose literal translation online and by Yogananda, Vivekananda etc but until your there you still don’t really get it

Ramana Maharshi called it Ullam

Most Western translators translated ullam to heart

Ullam can be translated to inner most recess or inner most or Atman or heart. Since some of the translation was done for Western Civilization they used heart.
In reality, inner most recess is the correct way of saying it.
In that case it is the same as Lahiri Mahashaya said it as Kutastha
Brahmananda and Akho called it Brahmar Gufa
In Chandogya upanishad it is called Dahar Vidya.

But ask your guru where it is and how to get there

A very nice reminder

Blank is tamas

Be prepared ( about Guru )

So in your progress towards pure consciousness and God there are several things that will happen. This article was written with presupposition of multiple births. Also your concept of a Guru is wrong. He does not talk or educate you or inform you or guide you. He does something much much greater.

1. Intermittent thoughts about the futility of the world

2. Desire To Find God And end this meaningless roasted repeated journey to earth. Before this people may go to temples and churches but it was to get gifts from Gods, social event, gossip, go to heaven, “destroy sin” ( which does not happen)

3. You try to find a way to God on your own. And fail. Your ego that you too can do it on your own – simply just not possible

4. You Seek A Guru. You can’t find a true Guru. Most of them have it as a business.

5. You Have A concept of what a true Guru is like. And you have pain. Anguish. Helplessness Your mental intensity for finding a Guru increases

6. You Find a real Guru. You fail to recognize him. Ouch. Ouch. So much pain when that happens. And you missed your boat. Now you wait again. For another long long time ( Remember you were around when Ram, Krishna, Buddha, Kabir, Jesus, Gyaneshwar, and thousands of other perfected Guru were there ). We simply missed the boat

7. So That’s What I mean be ready. When this opportunity comes. How? Be genuine. Be earnest to find God. Don’t crave the world be nice to your enemies. Conquer your anger. Be selfless. Be respectful to your Guru – even more than God. Never hurt your Guru. Be ready to die if he says die. That much surrender is needed. It is much much more than surrender. But that’s the inadequacy of English language

8. My sincere wishes to all that you may find a Guru – the greatest achievement ever in the journey to God. Remember, God is bound in way. If you are earnest enough he MUST SEND A GURU

PS : Most people are in stage 0 or stage 1 of the list.

From Warren Buffet

Not sure if this has been truly said by him

The same thing has been said in many different ways
So difficult to do !
Our mind and ego feel they have a right to react to every situation.
It’s not just words but outside situations control us. A nice food advertisement and we crave it!

Yogananda said it – be actively calm and calmly active

Ramana said – your the pure consciousness not thoughts. See where thoughts come from

Aurobindo said – the biggest problem is the uncontrolled vital

Gita says – you will be forced to act controlled by the three gunas. Surrender to me ( the spirit) I will deliver you

Bible says – And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Matthew 7. Mote means dust

Upanishads say – thou are the Divine why do you cry in illusion?

Vivekananda said arise awake and stop not till thy goal is reached !

What do you think?

Which historians are right – biblical or the others? was there Jesus?

https://www.rawstory.com/2019/04/evidence-jesus-ever-existed-weaker-might-think/amp/

How do I know I reached or experienced pure consciousness – or what is that experience like?

Right now what you think is self is ego. A blemish on the self. That ego makes you crave and gives illusion and think

Many ways of answering it

Mother (Aurobindo ) said if you have to ask that question then you have not reached there. Once you are there you know with certainty that is it and there is nothing more

Yogananda said I don’t read any books

I have said you stop searching and no longer have questions. You don’t subscribe to blogs books or read Vedas or Gita or Bible.

That experience cannot be described

Right now what you think is self is ego. A blemish on the self. That ego makes you crave and gives illusion and gives you thoughts. Why do you cling to ego?

Find a guru that can help you destroy your ego. Ego is not pride. Ego is illusion of the world

What did Maharshi Ramana say?

Bhagwan Sri Ramana Maharshi:

The Self is the one Reality that always exists, and it is by the light of the Self that all other things are seen. We forget it and concentrate on the appearance. The light in the hall burns both when persons are present and when they are absent, both when persons are enacting something, as in a theatre, and when nothing is being enacted. It is the light which enables us to see the hall, the persons and the acting. We are so engrossed with the objects or appearances revealed by the light, that we pay no attention to the light. In the waking or dream state in which things appear, and in the sleep state in which we see nothing, there is always the light of Consciousness or Self, like the hall lamp which is always burning. The thing to do is to concentrate on the seer and not on the seen, not on the objects, but on the Light which reveals them.
Questions about the reality of the world, and about the existence of pain or evil in the world, will all cease when you enquire ‘Who am I?’ and find out the seer. Without a seer the world and the evils thereof alleged do not exist. The world is of the form of the five categories of sense objects, and nothing else. These five kinds of objects are sensed by the five senses. As all are perceived by the mind through these five senses, the world is nothing but the mind. Is there a world apart from the mind?
Though the world and consciousness emerge and disappear together, the world shines or is perceived only through consciousness. That source wherein both these arise and disappear, and which itself neither appears nor disappears, is the perfect Reality.
Gems From Bhagavan

But once experienced the question of who am I never occurs! So Maharshi was speaking to those with curiosity and people who want to debate.

Otherwise if you ask am enlightened who are you? They will say ….. Chidananda Rupa … Or just remain silent because your question was illogical.

Guru

So mahayoga vigyana describes the qualities of a guru. It is written so a disciple can find a true Guru

I would like to add a few things to it. Qualities that should NOT BE PRESENT

A guru who has a set fee

A guru who has camps ( shows that he is interested in money )

A Guru who quotes physiology, modern day science research etc. Experience of spirit is rare but far exceeds any science ever. Jesus rubbed dirt in a blind woman’s eye and healed her. Which medical science can explain that

A guru surrounded by a many disciples. Why? those worthy of the highest experience are far and few

Generally a guru does not entertain speeches to the masses. There are a few exceptions like shukdev and Gyaneshwar. In modern times a few came out but only because they were forced. Vivekananda had no desire to give mass talks but Ramkrishna his guru blocked him from higher experiences until he fulfilled the Divine mission. Yogananda similarly had a mission to be fulfilled for Babaji. However they gave a lot of talks but only had a very limited number of disciples. ( Just because you think they are your Guru does not make them your Guru. Something very unique, something Divine happens with the blessings of a Guru. The guru has to be living in a physical body for that to happen. When that happens the disciple has no need for any book, scriptures, any other teacher or Guru. Does not need blogs. So. Long as you find the need to read books, blogs or keep searching for a Guru, there is something laacking. All searches end when the Guru connects with a disciple. It’s like a dead stop. All that is needed is inner meditation. Having said that there are weaker disciples who cannot fully absorb the gift from a guru and takes decades to move forward )

So long as you measure the level of a guru by popularity or number of disciples or volumes of books written or his oratory skill, you will never find a true Guru. Those things that mean a lot to you are trash to an enlightened person. God is not a promotional subject or popularity contest. God or spirituality is about peace and immense inner satisfaction that all other searches end. Instantly. Literally. You say I don’t want anything the world offers.

Such people are rare. Now reflect on this. See where you are. Don’t lose hope. Eventually the desire for truth will win and the doors open. You will seek the company of these rare people. Nothing else will ever satisfy you again

Easter

The day of Resurrection

Jesus did not reveal himself to the disciples but to Mary Magdalene

Who was Mary Magdalene? Historians say that she was a wealthy woman from southern parts of France. She supported Jesus financially ( his ministry? ). She needed 7 exorcism. ( Doubt she was afflicted by evil spirits ) and she was the first to see That the tomb of Jesus was empty and saw Jesus resurrected

Her first words to Jesus when he resurrected was Rabboni ( meaning Guru ). And Jesus told her not to touch him. He has not fully ascended

Many others say Jesus but that was months later. His dissciples were not ready. They had to wait to go to Galilee and that’s when Jesus fully awakened their Shakti and the disciples spoke in Tongues. ( Possibly from memories of past lives – also shows the method of Awakening was Siddha or Maha yoga way )

Paul saw Jesus when he was trying to escape crucifixion in Rome. Jesus went to Rome saying in that case he would take Paul place and get crucified a second time )

Thomas and others say Jesus at other times

So in a public forum not everything can be revealed. However it is wrong to believe Jesus cannot come back again and be seen. Yogananda saw him recently. Saint Francis talked with him daily ( Assisi ). We have to ascend to a very high purity

Even Jesus had to wait 3 days and still was not fully ascended ( inference based on his dialogue with Mary Magdalene ). However he did a little later. Similar to Sri Yukteshwar

Enough for now

If something bothers you…

So those who are great have one simple rule. If something or someone bothers them , they simply change them

When I mean change, I mean they make a sinner pious, or if there is famine and it bothers him they simply change outward environment

The problem is they are so surrendered to God they don’t want to make the change

Such great people are rare, hardly in public and don’t write blogs or give lectures. They can’t bear a minute away from God

If you look at the life of Neem Karoli, everything that bothered him, he changed it instantly
