Self deception

Link to Original Document

The biggest hurdle we have is self deception

We think that we are higher than what we are, Have experiences greater than what it is and fight to hold on to our ego and wrong concept and perceptions

I have seen many disciples who falsely assumed they go to highest, go into Samadhi when they have nothing. Yes their shakti was awakened but also lost or stagnant

It is sad. A great opportunity lost

The path is not to stroke your ego but it is a path to be humble

They moment you inflate your ego all progress comes to stand still

Do not compare yourself to any other disciple

Help them if you can. If they ask for it. Or if divinely commanded

This is what mother said

What you should do is to throw the doors of your being wide open to the Divine. The moment you conceal something, you step straight into Falsehood. The least suppression on your part pulls you immediately down into unconsciousness. If you want to be fully conscious, be always in front of the Truth – completely open yourself and try your utmost to let it see deep inside you, into every corner of your being. That alone will bring into you light and consciousness and all that is most true. Be absolutely modest – that is to say, know the distance between what you are and what is to be, not allowing the crude physical mentality to think that it knows when it does not, that it can judge when it cannot. Modesty implies the giving up of yourself to the Divine whole-heartedly, asking for help and, by submission, winning the freedom and absence of responsibility which imparts to the mind utter quietness. Not otherwise can you hope to attain the union with the Divine Consciousness and the Divine Will.

How to meditate

Link to Original Document

I will give a few bare details. I would like to clarify that most of the web pages have given junk and often mixed with a few true things and then wrapped in a package of fantasy. This of course makes it very difficult for a beginner to filter the truth from the fantasy. Many people fall prey to the mumbo jumbo on the web and falsely think the blog writer is enlightened

At present there are no enlightened people out there. They exist, but would be very difficult to find them. They do not have a web page etc, and often reside in solitude -unknown to all including their family

First the basics

  1. Our goal is to find peace and joy.
  2. After much turbulence of finding joy in the world, we realize it is not there. What exists is fleeting and in the end always disappointing
  3. We then focus our attention on religion and give up on it. Many liars and fakes
  4. We then change to spirituality. Everyone has a different definition about it. Everyone thinks they have the answer or think they have someone with the answer. Eventually they give up on that too
  5. After much much work one realizes that it might be with God or Atman
  6. Why God ? Why the word Atman? The word God often creates conflicting thoughts. One may call him Allah, other Krishna, other Jesus, or other father of Jesus, or Shiv etc. On the other hand Atman is easier. It is different from soul. Automatically it is an entity that gives peace (Shiv) and joy and it is the self

Now we are at the point of searching for Atman.

  • A few points for clarity
  • Atman is pure consciousness
  • It is the very self of everything
  • One may call it he or she or it or anything. Does not matter
  • It is not the soul like people think incorrectly

We can read many upanishads and veda. They all talk about Atman. In my opinion, when Krishan recited the Gita, he was describing himself established in Atman. People associate that status as exclusively as Krishna but that is not true. Similarly when Jesus said My father and I are one, he was referring to this Atman.

Atman is not just a theory or fabrication. It is real and it is to be experienced. Reading about it can lead to an interest in it. But cannot deliver anything. It is all powerful. It is both omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient All miracles can be done and experienced by someone who is established in Atman. The depth of identity with Atman gives varying degrees of powers emerging. Starting from trivial powers to much more. Those with much more like Neem Karoli Baba, Shirdi Sai Baba are rare. Very rare. Or like Gyaneshwar , Kashinathdada, Gurudev etc

Meditation

Finally we are at the point of discussing how to get to Atman. Why not find it in this lifetime and get lasting Joy and peace? What is the reason not to? God would be very foolish and selfish, if he existed and made it impossible to find. That is outright, torture and wrong. Sorry God.

However, he did not make it that challenging. The atman can be found, with effort and guidance. Without guidance, you cant really reach there. The road is complex. Complex because of the ignorance of our mind.

So how do we start to find Atman? After all like I said, it is present everywhere? If everywhere why can we not find it?

The first thing to realize is that if it is everywhere, one must focus on something that is with us all the time. You can really start digging an inch of a hole all over your garden and hope to reach the well. It has to be concentrated effort in one place!

The only thing we have with us all the time, no matter where is the body. So respect the body as a temple where you can find God or the Atman. Now where should we start in the body? There are many parts of the body. Atman is pure consciousness. We may not know much about consciousness yet, but one of the characteristics of consciousness – that most people will acknowledge is – breathing and thinking. The place where the breath and the brain meets is in the center of the forehead. It is the place where Agna chakra for the yogi exist. So in other words you can say it is the epicenter from which you can begin to appreciate Atman.

There is another reason for that place as the starting point for meditation. Body as we know begins from the sperm meeting the ovum. When the sperm meets the ova, there is a spark of light (sperm enters the ovum) (spark comes from zinc – medically research showed zinc and light). According to Yogananda, the place where the sperm and ova meet becomes the medula oblongata, the site which Yogi say corresponds to Agna chakra (not identical but similar)

Hence meditation starts with focus on the Agna chakra. It should be sustained, without breaking , without thoughts and sustained for at least an hour without any interruption. Then suddenly, a glimpse of light, (easier to see it in a very dark room) appears. This would be the beginning.

After much sustained immersion, you finally realize and begin to see that it is everywhere. You have proof. You suddenly begin to know what the other person thinks or feels. Or you have glimpses of the future. There will be a snow storm or there will be a covid outbreak in a few years etc.

In short, i have given a few small tips.

You may chose to follow random reading, jump from tree to tree or chose to remain on one tree, one method and reach there quickly.

Questions and Answers

Link to Original Document

Every so often, I find questions posed on my chat box and I am not able to attend to it immediately. I have a busy job at the hospital and many times I just dont hear the beep of the question immediately

However, I hope that subsequent blogs answers the questions and God blesses them with an appropriate answer and guidance.

I seek nothing from anyone. More importantly, there is nothing in this world that tempts me. The world will continue in its ignorant ways, going back to God in many uncertain steps.

Family matters

Link to Original Document

This is a common issue and happens everywhere , all the time

How do you meditate and practice self realization or go to Samadhi with all the problems we face?

A valid question for centuries but even more so right now

Lets answer it in 3 different steps

  1. Just remember that meditation and prayers – and life difficulties are 2 separate issues. We often pray and meditate and hope our life challenges go away. It may happen and often times the answer is weak or limited. This does not mean there is no God but it means it was Gods will that we endure the current situation. Thats all. Why we have to endure – we may never know. Having said that, those who get their wishes granted through prayers, often develop an Ego and become reckless in life. It is better that this does not happen
  2. The people we meet and more often than not, the people who we are related to are often ………ready for this?……are often our “enemies” from past births. Anger and hatred is a strong attractor to bringing those people back in our lives. And this time around, you cannot escape from it. We are forced to endure. Lets say you somehow dislike someone because you constantly lie and they lied to such a degree that you looked bad in front of your boss and family. Now you may think you are justified in being angry and hateful. However, God is tricky in his ways. In your next birth, God may give that person to you as your son or daughter. That person has not changed his or her habits and will continue to lie but since it is your son or daughter, you will have some biological love. It is an opportunity for you to learn to leave even the sinners. How do I know this? Sadly, I cannot say this from any crystal ball. I know of someone, who was a miserly father who harassed his son for money all his life. They lived in Borsad, Gujarat. In the next birth, the son became the employer of the father and roles got reversed.
  3. So, how can you meditate with situations like this? Remember that when someone harasses you, what hurts you more is the emotional reaction to the situation more so than any physical pain. In some cases, there is truly a physical pain from serious money issues, food, shelter, etc. In those cases it is impossible to meditate and go within. But enduring it with love, automatically creates a certain self realization without the need for deep meditation. That endurances automatically splits the mind from the self. So, all yogis are told one thing – endure. Sita did it to an extra ordinary length. Rama did it and so did all the Pandavas. Whether we like it or not, the outside situation does not change and we have little power over it, but we do have a certain control with the mind.

I know this was a long answer and read it, delve into it, reflect on it. So what is the short answer?

  1. Continue to meditate
  2. Endure circumstances
  3. Stop the mind from thinking of the problem. If you can forget the problem, it magically disappears
  4. Adequate sleep helps
  5. In your mind, silently send thoughts that the other person changes his habits, stops drinking and sent it with love and caring. This is like metta.
  6. You have the right to pray to the great Yogis. They are there and they can help change the circusmtances at the right time!. Shirdi Sai baba, Neem Karoli Baba ( a silent prayer to them), no matter where you are can make a difference
  7. Remember, when you endure, the greatest obstacle to self realization goes away. The biggest obstacle is our own karma!

Blessing to all.

A flower blossoms

Outward it opens

That’s all it knows

Oh so beautiful

So lovely

But soon it perishes

Now we lament

The flesh is the same

Outward it grows

The senses grows

So beautiful

So lovely

But soon it perishes

Magic moments lost

The wise Know

The beauty of flesh

No value as such

Why crave skin and blood

Let it go

Turn within find yourself

Let other flowers go

Priceless within

Priceless you are

Priceless is life

To find yourself

Be very clear

Atman real

Sohum

Link to Original Document

This is a word meant for yogi. I will not fully explain what it refers to – only because a Guru should do that

Basically it means that I am. That refers to God

Yogananda referred it to hungso technique. A peculiar sound produced by the breath with breathing out and in.

They are very powerful techniques. Having said that, there is a little more to it

Recently someone asked me where or which upanishad talks about sohum.

Yoga Sikha upanishad does. Here is a link to it – the translation

Vedanta Shastras Library

However without a Guru the full understanding and experience cannot be found

The full experience of sohum is similar to tattva Masi of veda. Which means that are though

A full description is in one other shastra. It can be found at 7 FB. I don’t understand much of it so can only leave it at that. That’s why I said best to hear from a Guru

Best wishes

The stupid circulation on what’s app

Link to Original Document

There are multiple stupid things that circulate on what’s app. I see it often. Most of the time I am unperturbed. This time since a friend I know who is intelligent circulated it , I thought I Would write about it. IT is unlikely he will read my blog

First about Jatayu

This character is from Ramayan. Ram ( God) upheld the words of his father and went to live in the Jungles. Shuparnakha saw Ram and fell in love with him. She was Ravana sister. Ram said he he already married but his brother Laxman could be interested. She went to see Laxman. He was enraged and cut her ears and nose. Her brother Ravana was upset. Knowing what was to come, Ram told his wife Sita to merge back to god but her shadow could remain. Ravana then went to kidnap the shadow Sita. He arranged a plot. He had his cohorts appear in the form of a Golden deer. Shadow Sita was enamored by the golden deer and insisted on getting it. Ram went to hunt the deer. He shot the deer but the deer being magical, shouted out in Ram voice “Laxman”. Sita insisted that Laxman go and investigate. Reluctantly Laxman left but protested the cottage with a magical line – a line that no demon could pass over. Ravana appeared as a Saint, begged for Alms. He insisted Sita pass over the line. Ravana immediately captured her and flew away with her

On the way he encounters Jatayu – an eagle. Yes he was an eagle. Jatayu tries to fight Ravana but he parishes

About Bhisma

Bhisma was the son of Ganga. He took a vow to protect Hastinapur. The ruler was Shantanu. When he married a second time – to Matsyagandha, she wanted her son to rule Hastinapur. So he took a vow , he will never marry or have sex. At that time he was renamed from Devdatta to Bhisma. ( meaning terrible or difficult vow to follow)

His mother was very pleased and gave him two boons – he will remain undefeated in all wars and he will only die when he wishes

For a while he ruled on behalf of the young child rulers and won many battles. Finally the grand son are old enough to rule. However there were two contending grand sons. Kauravas and Pandavas. They always taught with each other. Once the pandava while were ruling, lost a game of dice with the kauravas and Shakuni. The dice were doctored. As a result of the gamble, the pandavas lost their kingdom and their wife Draupadi. The kauravas ordered Drauadi to remove all her Royal garments in the court, she refused and Dushasana forced her to undress. He kept on pulling her garments but Lord Krishna made sure that she had enough layers of garments. Dushasana collapses. Anyway when this happened Bhisma was in the court and he did not help Draupadi.

Anyway after the war, Bhisma is mortally wounded by Arjun arrows. However he decides not to leave his body till January 14 and stays wound lying in a bed made by arrows finally before he departs he gives many pearls about being a ruler to Yudhisthir

Anyway, this is what is circulating on what’s app

One of the best, perhaps the best read, of late… Don’t miss to read, every perception is indeed wonderfully conceived.

THE BHISHMA WAY or

THE JATAYU WAY

No two people respond to the same situation in a similar way.

Here are examples of two legendary personalities who were faced with a very similar situation, but thier responses were poles apart.

This is a comparitive study between Bhisma and Jatayu.

Both of them, were confronted with character defining asssault situation on womanhood.

One chose to die protecting the victim while the other chose to be a mute spectator of the crime.

  1. POWERFUL or POWERLESS

Bhisma was a powerful warrior and if he wanted, he could have stopped the disrobing of Draupadi – the Queen but he chose to be a silent witness of this act

Whereas,

Jatayu was old and invalid and knew that in all probability, Ravana would kill him but still, he chose to try his best to protect Sita – the Queen.

Bhisma was powerful yet acted powerless whereas, Jatayu was powerless yet acted powerful.

_

“Real power is not about physical strength but about the deep desire to help.”_

2) ALIVE or DEAD

Bhisma lived on, but died everyday to his conscience

Whereas,

Jatayu died once but lived eternally true to his conscience. _

Our only constant companion is our concience – better to be true to it.”_

  1. FAME or INFAMY

Bhisma’s name and fame went down in the history because of this one act of not stopping the disrobing of Draupadi but Jatayu’s name and fame went high in history because of his act of trying to save Sita. _

We are all going to be mere names in the history, sooner or later. Will we be equated with the bad or the good – is our choice.”_

  1. CULTURE or VULTURE

Bhisma was supposed to be a highly cultured human but acted highly insensitive & stooped low in values like a vulture

Whereas,

Jatayu was supposed to be a lowly uncultured vulture but acted highly sensitive and soared the skies, in values, like an evolved human. Who would you call as a human – Bhisma or Jatayu? _

“One doesn’t become a human being by being born as a human – one becomes a human being by being a humane.”_

  1. SPOKEN or UNSPOKEN WORDS

Draupadi begged and pleaded protection from Bhisma because she knew, if someone could protect her, it was only him but still Bhisma didn’t protect her

Whereas,

Sita didn’t even ask Jatayu for protection – she just wanted him to inform Rama about her kidnapping by Ravana because she knew Jatayu was not powerful but still…Jatayu tried to protect Sita.

Bhisma, even being a human couldn’t understand the spoken words of Draupadi what to speak of understanding her unspoken words,

Whereas,

Jatayu, even though being a mere bird, understood not only the spoken words of Sita but also her unspoken words.

_

“The language of heart is more powerful than the language of words.”__

  1. CLARITY or CONFUSION

Bhisma was so much confused about his Royal duty that he forgot his higher duty, a moral duty

Whereas,

Jatayu was so clear about his moral duty that no other duty was in consideration for him. _

When caught up in dilemmas, best is to follow the higher principles – to follow our heart because it always knows the truth.”

_

  1. GOOD or BAD EXAMPLE

Bhisma set a very bad precedent for generations to come

Whereas,

Jatayu set the most ideal precedent for generations to come. _

“If we can’t be a great example atleast let us not be a bad one.”_

  1. RELATIVE or STRANGER

Another interesting point is that Bhisma was an elderly relative of Draupadi but acted as a total stranger in this episode.

Whereas,

Jatayu was not at all related to Sita, he was a stranger but acted more than a dearest relative. _

“True relationships is based on heartly connections not just bodily connections.”_

  1. THE SAINTLY or THE WICKED

Both, Bhisma and Jatayu had a few moments to decide what to do. Life, sometimes puts in situations where in a few moments, we need to take crucial decisions.

What we decide very much depends on the kind of inner integrity, we have cultivated by the association we keep.

Bhisma’s intelligence was clouded and it failed the test of life because he was associated with the wicked minded, selfish Kauravas,

Whereas,

Jatayu’s intelligence was crystal clear and it passed the test of life because he associated himself with the saintly selfless Lakshman and the all-pure Lord Rama and dignity of women.

“After all, who we are solely depends on whom we associate with.”

  1. EMBRACE or NEGLECT

The Supreme Lord as Sri Krishna was not at all happy with the attitude of Bhisma so much so that when He came as a peace messenger to Hastinapur, He didn’t even bother to look at Bhisma, what to speak of respecting him.

Whereas,

The Supreme Lord as Ramachandra was so happy & moved with the attitude of Jatayu that he embraced him and personally did his final rites – an honour that even Dasharath – His own father didn’t receive. _

_

The scriptures explain that the ultimate test of any activity is, if the Supreme Lord is pleased with us.__ .It is very clear, Bhisma displeased God whereas, Jatayu pleased Him.

This recount is not meant to criticize Bhisma– he is undoubtedly a great warrior and an amazing personality who sacrificed his personal desires for Hastinapur, but we do impartially critique his inaction.

The end here is to learn from the choices made, so that we are conscious that history follows us. _

When we see some injustice, some problem, we have only two options – either close your eyes to it or do something about it – follow “the Bhisma way” or “the Jatayu way”

And, whichever way we choose, remember there will be consequences of our choices…

~”the Bhisma result” or “the Jatayu result”._

Brilliant analysis !!

I could easily vote for this post as the Best One in the recent times, & fowarding it for all to introspect, review and keep sharing ahead….

Now the stupidity

  1. Jatayu was an eagle. Not a vulture
  2. Both stories are an allegory. Don’t pretend to be intelligent when you can’t see this and take the stories literally
  3. Jatayu – means jad aayu. Jad means inert and aayu means life. Thus it refers to the life of the body. The soul remains intact. Sita being abducted refers to Sita as peace is abducted or lost by Ravana – abhas chaitanya or the foolishness of assuming reality in this world and looking for happiness here. The human body and intelligence is incapable of fighting it. But surrender to God / Guru can help fight it !
  4. Bhishma here is abhas chaitanya. The power that makes us forget our divine self and get trapped in this world. That illusion can’t end unless we truly want it to end ( hence Bhisma can’t die unless he chooses it). Dushasana refers to anger. Du means difficult. And shasana means control. When anger takes control there is significant damage. Bhisma – there illusion that makes you forget your divine self remains indifferent to good and bad. It is bit affected nor is it destroyed unless it is mortally wounded by Arjuna. Arjuna is the power of meditation. ( the story of hitting the birds eye and not seeing anything else )

To compare the two and come up with pseudo intelligence like on what’s app should not be followed

They know nothing

Ram Gopal Mazmudar even after 40 years of meditation, knowing all about Yoganabda6, the light of God constantly present in his room and could heal Yogananda illness in a fraction of a second said, “he is still starting”

There is much to experience. Don’t be satisfied with your shallow experience

A few people have left questions on the chat. I have tried to incorporate an answer in my blogs.

This is what mother ( Aurobindo) said

Essentially there is but one single true reason for living: it is to know oneself. We are here to learn — to learn what we are, why we are here, and what we have to do. And if we don’t know that, our life is altogether empty — for ourselves and for others.

And so, generally, it is better to begin early, for there is much to learn. If one wants to learn about life as it is, the world as it is, and then really know the why and the how of life, one can begin when very young, from the time one is very, very tiny — before the age of five. And then, when one is a hundred, one will still be able to learn. So it is interesting. And all the time one can have surprises, always learn something one didn’t know, meet with an experience one did not have before, find something one was ignorant of. It is surely very interesting. And the more one knows, the more aware does one become that one has everything to learn. Truly, I could say that only fools believe they know. That indeed is a sure sign, someone coming and telling you, “Oh! I know all that; oh! I know all that”; he is immediately sized up!

Another way of saying, the moment you thing you know it, you are stagnant. You are stuck

So not knowing is a sign you can progress

However, you may question, is there a point where you know it? Absolutely. But even at that you know you can go within deeper. But as a mere starting point, you will have proof of knowing. This is by understanding any scripture very easily. No part of any religion is complex. They are the masters who can bring unity but the world is not easy. Sad

A question

Link to Original Document

Yesterday I asked a question to people who work with me

They hated me.

Suggested I torture someone else

Since this is purely voluntary, you may think twice before reading further

The question

If you came back to earth, and God gave you an option – which option would you take

A). Come back Rich but you don’t have God in your life

B). Come back piss poor. ( sorry for my English) but you have God in your life

Tough question. Some choose not you Answer. Most said option B. But they hesitated. Of course life would be difficult without money.

Many said they hope that God will give them the money. Or tried to negotiate

But they were missing an essential thing and understanding about God ! A critical one

Once you have God , you will not desire anything. In that way he is wicked. He takes over so much that you don’t want anything Just him. Is all you want

Secondly I don’t like a God and don’t want a God who need my prayer. This is not a God I want or recognize – a God who likes that I ask him for anything Just give it. He knows my heart. My desire.

So in other words I have…

Anyway, I am going to a wedding – thought of asking this question to the groom. Just afraid if the groom says piss poor, the bride will leave!

Maybe I should keep this question to myself

Interesting to see what people think

A benevolent God

Link to Original Document

Someone asked a question – rather made a statement

But first a few words

Omnipotent – all powerful everywhere

Omniscient- knowing all

So the sentence is

If God is omniscient and Omnipotent then he is not benevolent

And if he is benevolent then he is not Omniscient and omnipotent

It should be obvious why this sentence was there

It is like making a statement, if there is a God why is there so much misery

Now this is a valid statement.

How do you resolve this?

First, just forget God. That is not your goal

What you want is peace and happiness. This question people pose – when you try to answer you will ponder and argue and debate. First stop that line of reasoning or thinking

Second, if you truly want an answer go and ask God. Why take an answer from intellectual debates

Third this question can only be asked if you are in darkness. What you want to do is get out of darkness. Not increase darkness

Fourth in light this question cannot occur

Fifth when in light and with God, the situation is different. How so ? Out current love is a trailer not a full movie. While from God perspective, you have the full movie. And it all makes sense

Hope that helps

It is perfectly logical and benevolent from God view point

He wants all to wake up and return. But how do you get rid of the obsession of sense enjoyment?

How can god tell you that there is more fun in meditation? Going in Samadhi?

In order to go into Samadhi you need to give up desires for sex and food etc. and in order to give up desires for food , you need to go into Samadhi

But we cling to this world ferociously. Never wanting to give it up. We want to Enjoy it again and again

So sometimes a little pain in life, rudeness from others they are a reminder to leave this world.

Too much pain is not helpful though

More later. I need to go!

Our personal enemy – ourself and our ego

Link to Original Document

So when I spent my younger years with my Gurudev, I learnt two things very quickly

  • Never interrupt Gurudev. He will immediately drop the subject. It was not because he was offended but he saw it as a sign that the divine did not want you to hear higher things
  • Never think that you know what he is trying to say. We simply cannot understand him. I know of many things he told me in 1982, almost 50 years later, it makes sense. It could be a simple statement. But until you have peace in meditation you will never understand. The moment you have a thought you understand what he means or you know the story he stops
  • The best strategy is to be at his feet, silently let him talk when he wanted to and explain or say anything. IT could seem random. But it never is. It could be something that would happen 30 tears later. We just never know.

Many Times I have been around people. I am so ready to talk but they immediately talk about worldly matters. And I stop what can I do?

Recently I want to share about a book about Gurudev,a translation. Or explain a very complex paragraph in mukta Shasta. And they felt they knew what was meant because someone explained it to him. Or course I knew who told him and I knew it was totally wrong. But once you start worshiping the wrong person you can’t correct yourself

I would have gladly said more – the patience was now there. And misguided trust in the wrong practice method and person

Why do people make this mistake? Simple. Their own ego prevents them from remain silent. What is the hope? Why worship their own ego?

Mansoor

Link to Original Document

I have a story of a Saint.

I am not sure of the name – something like Mansoor…..a sufi saint

I can’t verify the accuracy neither can I confirm the time. About 300 years ago in northern India

Take it as you will – my point ? He remained United in a higher level no matter what the circumstances. We forget to remain United when someone forgets to say hi or good morning.

He always lived in a very very high state. All day he would say, “anhalak’ Meaning God I am. He hardly ate, and lived like a crazy person

Now the king of the place had court appointed religious leaders and they hated Mansoor. Of course they would. It is said, that those who are divne are generally hated.

One day, it so happened the king had a son, young son who died.

The other religious leaders told the King, call Mansoor, after all he keeps saying God I am. Maybe he can do something

So Mansoor was summoned to the court. He went to the court and was orderd by the king to bring his son back to life. The dead body was brought into the court. Mansoor says, I will bring him back, but I am certain that after I do that you will pass an order to kill me. The king said, I wont and took a royal oath he will not order a death sentence. (Even in the old days, the politicians and rulers were untrustworthy)

So Mansoor goes to the dead body and says

Khuda ki agna se khada hoja. Meaning with the order from Khuda (Allah) get up. Of course nothing happens.

Mansoor goes again and says, Mein Mansoor kaheta hun, khuda ki agna se khada hoja. Meaning, I Mansoor is telling you, Get up from the Order of Khuda (allah). Nothing happens.

The jealous people are happy

Mansoor then finally says,

Accha, to meri agna se khada hoja – oh ok, then get up with my order! And the boy comes alive

All was well for a very short time but the jealous religious leaders told the King, this is wrong. Mansoor showed that he is greater than God. and no one is greater than God. How can he say that with Gods command that the boy did not come to life but with his command he came to life? Etc etc. So the king issued an order, that Mansoor be stoned to death

The next day, Mansoor was taken to the center of the village and the king ordered everyone to throw stones and kill him. Every stone that fell on him…he would laugh. People were puzzled. And he said, oh, I was afraid if there was body pain, I might lose my identity with God, but instead, there is intense joy and love.

Now, he had a disciple. He was in trouble. If he did not throw a stone, the villagers would be upset with him. And he could not throw a stone at his Guru. So he threw a flower. And Mansoor cried….oh…so sad, you knew me and yet you did that…

Finally Mansoor left his body…but there was a constant sound coming from his body, God I am, anhalak.

This was too much for the town people. So they started chopping his body up. Every part of the body they chopped started chanting Anahalak. They were lost. Did not know what to do. They threw his body parts into the ocean.

Finally, God got upset. There were tsunami and the town about to be wiped out. Finally the town people, realized that only Mansoor could save them. They prayed to Mansoor for forgiveness and the tsunami stopped.

Our personality

Here is something interesting Mother said

Before the true self is known, you are a public place, not a being. There are so many clashing forces working in you; hence, if you wish to make real progress, know your own being which is in constant union with the Divine. Then alone will transformation be possible. All the other parts of your nature are ignorant: the mind, for instance, often commits the mistake of thinking that every brilliant idea is also a luminous idea. It can with equal vigour trump up arguments for and against God: it has no infallible sense of the truth. The vital is generally impressed by any show of power and is willing to see in it the Godlike. It is only the psychic which has a just discrimination: it is directly aware of the supreme Presence, it infallibly distinguishes between the divine and the undivine. If you have even for a moment contacted it, you will carry with you a conviction about the Divine which nothing will shake.

The Mother, Questions and Answers 1921 – 1931 with commentaries on the Dhammapada, CWM volume 3, page 124.

What did she mean by you are a public place? It means that many external forces work upon us. Things we are not aware of us For example

  • Other people thoughts and behavior These thoughts and hidden forces come to us more easily when they touch you, through food, talk etc. that’s why eating simple food, avoiding restaurants, sex, good company is important.
  • Cosmic influences – many people say why is everyone behaving so erratic. Is it the full moon ? ( scientific studies have shown that full moon etc is a myth but my observation contradicts the scientific data)
  • Maya – she often sends thoughts and it influences everyone instantly. That’s why epidemic occurs. Covid could be seen as a thought that gave power to the virus
  • Environmental forces – we all know that going to nature – forests, oceans often have a calming effect. Here the forces of nature, the majestic calmness of trees, the sound of oceans work on us

Now a yogi is someone who slowly gets stronger and died not let the outside forces worked on him as much. An accomplished yogi can change the outside forces and can protect others. A higher yogi can prevent Covid occurring etc. but such people are rare. They do exist and have helped in the past

Is reading enough / should you meet a Guru?

Link to Original Document

Of course reading is not enough

What is the difference? You could read all the information you like about spirituality but it won’t help you

The Guru actually gives you the experience

Let’s say you have a question? You read the answer. Or you ask the question to someone with an awakened Shakti? Is there a difference? The answer is yes. The person with awakened Shakti when he answers he transmits ( at times without his knowledge) some of his awakened Shakti to the listener

That’s why when on the path and your Shakti is awakened they guide them and are told not to meet others or talk with anyone.

Later when you progress you have more control and can directly awaken to some degree the listener – or just transmit an answer and the listener has an answer!

So it is always advisable and to the benefit to talk with someone advanced for further understanding

Of course the person you ask the question has to be awakened!

I have benefited from people like this many times.

Mental games

Link to Original Document

One of the curiosity of the human mind is playing mental games

What do I mean by it?

Simple – let’s say that a yogi is supposed to eat less. Now if someone has a self portrayed image of being a yogi, naturally he will show in public he rarely eats. And when he eats he will say oh it is because my disciples get offended and sad. An act and ruse from ego

On the other hand a true yogi would just be honest and say, yes the sense of bodily consciousness is strong and I try to overcome it

Now which scenario is more inspiring?

So many people play these games. In life. Wanting to portray a great personality but scum within

But why is it a problem? This week aspire to be on the path play these mental games! They try to test!

I recently came across who was reading my blog. I knew it but I did not reveal it. Not my business. Now this person pretended not to know about my blog. Why play games? It only hinders

I try to tell some people, divinely guided, of course but the power if Maya is very strong. I may Say contradictory things but both of them are true. Instead of asking why or how, people get upset. A golden opportunity is lost

There are many levels to Shakti awakening. Someone who knows them has to be awakened and if you know none then there is no awakening

A Guru can hint but he will not proclaim in public.

Faith – it is something spontaneous and is present and reveals itself when logic says impossible. This is not mathematics where logic makes it correct. It is beyond all calculative conclusion of logic. It automatically knows. But substantial purity is needed. Faith is the first step to freedom.

Reading books and logic can’t help it merely gives a proper order of events and helps guide a novice in selecting a proper Guru.

Generally an impure mind will only find an impure and worthless Guru

Only pure hearted can hear true words. And appreciate it

I have had a few questions – but some things can only be answered in person.

Lastly today is Guru Purnima.

Paying tribute to your Guru. I helped a few people do puja in Philadelphia. They were told the truth. But strangely like I told them the entire burden is on them

If they like what I say that is a burden of looking which came from their own mind

If they hate me, that is a burden that was created by their own mind

My actions do not exist – since I want nothing. Talking is a burden. Peace within is what is enduring

Faith and surrender

Link to Original Document

We talk of faith and talk about surrender. Some people describe it like taking The plunge into the divine.

Here is a nice question posed by a child to Mother ( Aurobindo)

But you see the sea and so you can jump straight into it. But how are you to jump into the spiritual life?

Of course, you must have had some glimpse of the Divine Reality, as you must see the sea and know something of it before you can jump into it. That glimpse is usually the awakening of the psychic consciousness. But some realisation you must have — a strong mental or vital, if not a deep psychic or integral contact. You must have felt strongly the Divine Presence in or about you; you must have felt the breath of the Divine world. And you must have felt too as a suffocating pressure the opposite breath of the ordinary world, drawing you to an endeavour to come out of that oppressive atmosphere. If you have that, then you have only to seek refuge unreservedly in the Divine Reality and live in its help and protection, in it alone. What you may have done in the course of your ordinary life only partially or in some parts of your being or at times and on occasions, you must do completely and for good. That is the plunge you have to take, and unless you do it, you may do Yoga for years and yet know nothing of a true spiritual living. Take the whole and entire plunge and you will be free from this outer confusion and get the true experience of the spiritual life.

The Mother, Questions and Answers 1921 – 1931 with Commentaries on the Dhammapada, CWM volume 3, pages 21 – 22.

So some glimpse of the divine is needed. God is not cruel. Someone, somewhere he makes his presence known. What happens is our logic mates is us think- did it really happen or say the miracle was just coincidence

The other problem is also there. Some people take refuge in a fake or liar. And attribute all success to a Self proclaimed but hypocritical, money seeking, fame seeking self proclaimed Guru

How do you differentiate?

By purity. A true manifestation is very subtle. You immediately wonder was it true? Oh maybe I am imagining it. I am not sure. Later that subtle feeling our glimpse is evident outside. Not only within. And that is when you know your Guru

But the initial glimpse is within. Or a Guru can give you a glimpse within

Do you want your shakti awakened?

Link to Original Document

Yes. Of course!

However in ancient tim shakti was not awakened without rigorous testing!

Very rigorous!

Those tests – at present no one can endure!

Look at the test Harischandra endured.. He lost his money, deprecated from wife, homeless, lost his only son- but he did not deviate from his path

It is only after that was his shakti awakened

There are many silly people who met my Guru or read books and blogs and ask questions about awakening and expect awakening to be given just because they ask and are interested!

For them God has arranged many other Gurus. My blog is not meant for them. I belong to a specific path not meant for everyone. Very few will ever follow this. And before they get awakening, they were checked very rigorously. Not like Harischandra. Much lighter. Nevertheless, a certain degree of testing is needed

A Guru who accepts every one as a disciple is not a true Guru. Why? Because awakening of shakti is very precious. If you know the importance, you simply do not give it to anyone ! That of course is my interpretation. I could be wrong

So it is easy to spot a true Guru. He has very few disciples. Does not awaken shakti freely. He may have followers – but a follower is not a disciple. Vivekananda and Yogananda had many followers. But the specific step of awakening of shakti was rarely given

But I follow Yogananda and I know my shakti is awakened? Good for you. My definition of awakening is very stringent. I don’t see 10 people with awakening. My stupidity

That is an important tip. Please don’t follow me or read my blogs

First Subhadra went in a chariot with 12 wheels, then Balbhadra in the chariot with 14 wheels and finally Krishna in the chariot with 16 wheels. The chariots have very specific dimensions.

After they ate at the cottage, they finally got better

The Chariot of Subhadra, known as Dwarpadalana , literally “trampler of pride,” is forty – three feet high with twelve wheels, each of seven – foot diameter. This Chariot is decked with a covering of red and black cloth – black being traditionally associated with Shakti and the Mother Goddess.

A good heart & a good nature are two different issues A good heart can win many relationships but a good nature can win many good hearts. Good Morning..!

My answer

Good morning!

What is there to win?

Being kind and good natured itself is a big reward and satisfying.

Does not matter if the world is your enemy. Be good natured and have a good heart

Another one

Happiness comes when we stop complaining about the troubles we have

And say thanks to God for the troubles

we don’t have.

🌷Good Morning and wish you a day full of Happiness ahead🌷

My answer

Happiness comes from worldly expectations.

Joy is from connecting with God

That is always there

Deceived

Link to Original Document

Someone commented today that I should not have used the word that Ramana maharshi deceived. Thank you!! I corrected it. My apologies for offending anyone

It would been difficult to understand why I used the words

However in Gita chapter 10, verse 36

“There are many kinds of cheaters all over the universe. Of all cheating processes, gambling stands supreme and therefore represents Krsna. As the Supreme, Krsna can be more deceitful than any mere man.”

Krishna himself calls himself deceitful

This form of deceit is not deceit in the sense we use

I used the word deceit in that supreme self for Ramana Maharshi

This deceit word has a different meaning

It is used in this sense. People have choices. Either the world or self knowledge and God. They are given that choice When such holy people appear they give everyone the choice to find one self or continue the worldly ways. But even though they are capable of telling you that you made the choice for wanting the world and that choice is a poor choice they never say that or correct

And that’s how many people lose the chance of escape.

Maya has a strong hold on worldly people. It constantly deceives everyone. Even on the path of spirituality. So many religions so many ways described

But all ends up in one way. Via Sushumna. The Royal path. There is no other way

Great people like krishna, Ramana maharshi, Vishnu tirthji, Neem Karoli Baba, are truly God. But the next claim it , say it or show it. Even when they do, they give credit to someone else

This is the mastery over maya. Mastery over the deceitful eyes people have. In plain view yet fully hidden form of God. My pranam to them

I am very much in debt to Ramana maharshi. He gave me a tremendous gift recently

How long to know yourself

Link to Original Document

Gyana or wisdom or enlightenment does not come gradually,

little by little, day by day.

It blazes forth

all at once

in all its fullness,

when the practice

has matured

to perfection.

So the bottom line is – it takes a fraction of a second. You are either awake in pure consciousness or you are in the dream. Those are the only 2 options.

It only takes a fraction of a second

But you have to be ready to wake up

The anesthetic and numbing effect of the anesthesia of Maya, will prevent you from wanting to wake up, will make you accept wrong ideas and stick to it, failure to recongize someone telling you the truth and you will wake up for a second and want to go back to the dream. I am sure everyone has experienced this.

Some are lucky and the anesthetic effect of Maya has waned up. They are the fortunate people ready to wake up.

So waking up although a fraction of a second, being prepared to be awake takes time.

After you wake up, the harder battle then starts. Those who are not awake will not know the battle, but those who are awake, know the problems after being awake

Struck by a bladless spear, he sits under the tree

Surely he will die either today or tomorrow.

Kabir

This is a  difficult passage to understand, but this is my interpretation.  Bladeless spear – is awakening of the shakti or divine grace.  It is a spear since it penetrates the human faults / chakras. The tree is the passage to Sahastrar / the brilliance of God and sitting refers to meditation.   Surely he will die today or tomorrow – meaning Moksha is certain in a few births.

The correction factor

Link to Original Document

We all suffer from the correction factor. What do I mean by it? Lets say you go to work. And find that one of your colleagues is taking too long to do a routine job done. And we like the person but still in the back of our mind and sometimes vocally we find several different things that person could have done differently

If only that person was not so lazy or

He or she is not just thinking properly or

He or she probably had a rough evening or should lay off the booze or

Why cant that person follow the same steps I do…it works

Now in the case of the spouse it becomes a lot worse. Not only do we find the innumerable flaws but also express it. And that will create conflicts and aggravation. Once you find fault, the other person finds counter faults…and your neighbor and friends and relatives have free entertainment plus gossip provided by you.

I learnt something very important when I was young. I was about 12 years old and I found that one of the cleaning person did not do a good job or had misplaced my stuff. I got very angry and upset. My father heard me….and he said, well, if you really want things like that not to happen, you always have the option to do it yourself. And that stuck with me. If something goes wrong, the first step and duty we have is to ourself. Dont get upset. Do the job yourself in that case. So I look at it differently when someone does not do it the way I thought it should be

I will not correct the other person. If needed, I will make suggestions. As a thought. Usually that does not go well anyway

I try to get rid of my anger or why I am upset. Often times, you will find there is a personal ego or vanity that was responsible for it.

The situation was created by God….An opportunity to learn patience and correct myself

When someone tries to correct you, dont get angry. It may or may not be criticism. But think it over, try to see the other persons perspective and if there is validity, accept it. The amount of anger we get when someone tries to point out our flaws is directly related to the ego we have. Get rid of it. Even if the person is totally wrong about you, remember that person had a different upbringing.

Aurobindo made a powerful statement. He said, dont try to correct someone. If you want to correct someone, just do it with your spiritual power but dont use words. Isnt that more beautiful? And when you try to do that, you will discover, your flaws. We like to get angry, upset, shout, blame and secretly want the other person to continue their wrong ways and suffer. We say, what do I care? That is not right either.

Vad Savitri Punam

Link to Original Document

Vad or some people say vat – means higher or superior

Punam is full moon

And Savitri refers to the story of Satyavan and Savitri

This story was narrated in Mahabharat when Yudhisthir asked a sage if there was any woman pure like Draupadi (mind you she had 5 husband). Thats when sage Markandey tells him the story of Savitri.

There was a kingdom called Shalva. The king over there was Dyumnasena and he lost his kingdom and eyesight from gambling. He and his were forced to live in exile in a forrest with his son Satyavan

There was another king of Madra, whose name was Ashwapati who was very pious and did not have any children. He prayed to the God Savitr. (Which means sun) and he blessed them with a daughter who was named Savitri. Savitri is very pure and pious. So when it was time for her marriage, no one would marry her. So her father told her to travel and find her own husband. She found Satyawan and decided she want to marry him.. Narada muni appeared and said, he is not a good choice. Satywan will die in 1 year.

But Savitri remained adamant and married Satyawan. When 3 days were left in the life of Satyawan she stopped eating and drinking. On the fateful day, she asks permission to go to the forrest with Satyawan. Mid day, Satywan says he has a headache and lies down on the lap of Savitri. The God of death Yama Raja sends his messenger to take Satywan but they could not take him because of Savitri purity. Then he comes himself and takes the soul but Savitri follows him. Yama Raja is suprprised that she can see him and follow up. They walk together and after 3 steps Yamaraja asks what do you want. She says we are friends since we walked 3 steps together. Pleased with her answer he tells her to ask for 3 boons but she cannot ask for Satyawan to be alive

So her first boon she asks for is that her father in law regain his eye sight and get his kingdom back. Second boon she asks for her father to have 100 sons. and as a final boon asks for her to have 100 children with Satyawan. Yama raja laughed and saw through her trick. He then asks her to ask again…anything she wants. Since this time there was no restriction, she immediately asked the right thing – life of Satyavan back.

Yama raja was pleased and gave her all her wishes

So today is Vat Savirtri punam. And this was the story.

Now the interpretation. I will give a brief interpretation. Shalva the kingdom also has another history in the Vishnu Purana – he was a demon, enemy of Vishnu. In any event, the word Dyumna means light and sena means army. Losing his sight, refers to the Atman meaning the knowledge of self being lost and succumbing to ignorance. Living in the forrest means now he becomes a soul named Satyavan and forced to live in the world. ( the spiritual splendor lost). He has a limited life. Our time on earth is very short

Savitri the daughter a gift from the sun, refers to the divine Shakti, Tripur Shakti. She takes an oath to save the soul. And her journey and 3 steps with Yama raja refers to the journey of saving the soul from Yama raja – the God of death.

Winning the battle over the God of death – is to reach immortality, which means knowing ones divine self.

Mindfullness – the foolish technique

Link to Original Document

First let us be clear. Yoga comes from the sanskrit word Yuj or to join. In other words you can say merge into God or pure consciousness. That is what Yoga is about.

In this understanding of Yoga, you start with the idea that there is pure consciousness and or God

Second, we have to have a understanding what God or pure consciousness is. You will never know exactly till you reach there out. God – a creator and someone who monitors and takes care of the creation and is omnipotent, omnipresent etc. Pure consciousness is pure awareness. Whether pure consciousness has every thing that we call God can be discussed some other day.

What do I mean by pure consciousness – something that is aware of itself without needing thoughts, emotions or the body. Now there is much much more to it. But this would be a starting point. The mistake we make is we believe thinking is part of pure consciousness. IT IS NOT.

So, let us move forward with this concept that there is something, higher and deeper and beyond this physical world, which is pure consciousness and getting there, merging in there is our goal

So far so good.

So, how do we get to the superconsciousness or pure consciousness from this physical world?

Obviously there has to be a gateway or connecting link. Our mind and thoughts are scattered. The mind roams everywhere and anywhere. And the mind often is a creator and imagines things. You can imagine God. You can imagine a handsome guy or female. You can imagine Krishna, Buddha, Jesus or Swaminarayan, etc. But remember, it is something you imagined and that is NOT the real thing.

So the first step is to bring the mind back to your body, so you can find yourself or go within your body. And from here you can start Yoga. In ancient times, breathing or breath was described as the beginning of back to the body. This technique is known as Sohum or Hungso technique. In Buddhism, the modern thinking is, it is Vipassana. This is thinking, in my opinion is incorrect. (More criticism to follow, you can leave. Dont hate me or get angry, because that is not love towards all which is part of Vipassana)

Now in Yoga, there is a little secret doorway and ingredient to the Sohum technique. This secret door or ingredient is not revealed. You wont find it in books or on the internet. Nevertheless, without that ingredient, you cannot progress further. Your mind will remain in this outside world and limited to the body. People dont even talk about the secret ingredient, because they dont know it exists and after reading this, you will say, I dont believe it. I cant find it in any book or on the all knowing internet. My answer, thats unfortunate! Once that ingredient is given, then the royal road, the sushumna / brahmanadi opens and you go to superconsciousness or pure consciousness which has a special way of knowing itself. This special way of knowing or pure consciousness is a status that the Original buddha called Vipassana. (I can discuss it further later). The word vipassana itself means – Vi special and passana seeing. ( i am giving a general version). So this pure consciousness or superconsciousness or God has a divine way of seeing or knowing – the spiritual eye or the third eye. But that third eye comes much much later and it comes from dropping the awareness of the body!

Now, hopefully you have something clear.

Pure consciousness or superconsciousness is in a different or higher plane from the body

It comes from going “within”.

It means dropping awareness of the body and being aware of the pure consciousness and then merging into it.

This is my understanding. I cannot offer any proof and I do not seek followers or money or anything from anyone. My only wish, is that if you ever get tired of all the other techniques in this world, if you truly want to know the correct path, my blogs can give a clear and logical understanding

Now lets come to Mindfullness

True vipassana or the spiritual third eye is very difficult to achieve. In the rush to perfection, Goenka talked about Vipassana in 4 or 5 steps. In the third step, he called being aware of the breath and then body as Vipassana. I believe Vipassana as something much higher and correlate it with the spiritual third eye.

Now, you are faced with the choice, believe that observing the body is perfection of Vipassana or believe that Vipassana is achieving the spiritual third eye and it lies in a plane of existence above the physical world

So, like I said, in Mindfullness they are told to mere observe the breath, the sensations of the body, watch yourself eating, chewing, walking etc. They consider that as Saakshi Bhav and emancipation and perfect Vipassana

My thought – you are still caught up in the body.

This technique in recent times was talked by Goenka, then Thich Nhat Hanh from Vietnam talked about it. In 1979, Kabat-Zinh from MIT popularized it. Now many many people follow it, but they have missed the boat. In my opinion, the goal is to go to superconsciousness and not focus on the body. Focusing on the body is like not going within and going nowhere

Saakshi Bhav

Kapil muni described Saakshi Bhav as a way to going within. The same techniqe is described by Ramana Maharshi as who am I. So how does this fit in with Vipassana (the modern thinking) or Sohum or Hungso technique? So granted, in these techniques, you start with the breath. But you go within, like who is aware of the breath and when you realize there is a consciousness that is aware of breath you drop the breath and become aware of a deeper, more fuller realm. Now you are not aware of the body but aware of a deeper layer of a richer consciousness. While interacting with other people, what do you do? While interacting with other people, it is emotions and thoughts that come in play. Sri Aurobindo has described what to do in that situation in his book – Integral Yoga. But he quickly suggests of going to inner consciousness and then cosmic consciousness.

In short, mindfullness got fixated on the body. Yoga wants you to drop body awareness as fast as you can and go to a higher plane

You can go with popular opinion and the rage of the day or chose to find a higher dimension. Take your pick!

Go love your body (and other bodies). I prefer my solitude and the higher dimension. The love in that dimension is sustainable.

Will I come back?

You decide

Neem Karoli Baba said

“If you desire a mango at the time of death you will come back as an insect. If you desire even the next breath at the time of death you will have another birth“

How clean is your heart? Are you ready to start teaching and become a great philosopher? Or do you want to use your remaining time here to do some self cleaning?

This life loves full of hardships

Every time you are back you will deal with deceitful people, financial issues, getting degraded, loss of loved ones, worries etc. if you seek perfection in this world, it exists but not in the way you think it is. First, if only, everyone cleansed their heart, wouldn’t the world suddenly become much better?

That is the one thing people must do and it is the only thing they don’t do.

ham ne sodhi kaya re

Here is the translation in English. It is a step by step description of Yoga from lowest to highest. However, the lowest described here…is the peak of many other saints

It is about searching for God in the body temple

I have omitted deeper meanings for sake of simplicity

I have searched within the body

And found the ultimate secret (God is in you) (x 2)

Suddenly, I lost consciousness (went into samadhi – a status called unmuni, one of the highest samadhi)

And heard the divine throb Sohum (meaning the divine sound that says you are the divine, you are the God)

I merged the two flows (nandi mundi)

My eyes merged in the forehead

I have searched within the body

And found the ultimate secret (God is in you) (x 2)

I left the crowd (referring to our thoughts and emotions),

Went to the mountain top (Sahastrar)

I heard the celestial sounds

Drank Amrit by the glass,

Oh I enjoyed the meditation at Trikuti ( the divine trinity)

I have searched within the body

And found the ultimate secret (God is in you)

I climbed the mountain,

Saw the abode (madhiya) (of God)

enjoying the divine music

Whoever, who searches the self

The self reveals himself

I have searched within the body

And found the ultimate secret (God is in you) (x 2)

Beyond the light

The divine shines

The unrevealed palace (Agam, a place beyond imagination or understanding) exists

A yogi asana (sitting posture) now in the sky

Everywhere there is divine light and sounds

I have searched within the body

And found the ultimate secret (God is in you) (x 2)

When i looked, I saw myself

The dream existance revealed (avghat ghat)

I left the body and mind

Turned within and merged in myself

I have searched within the body

And found the ultimate secret (God is in you) (x 2)

Sings Gyani (Anwar), I saw the secret path( agam something that is beyond understanding)

When you leave your ego from yourself,

You merge in the true self (pure consciousness)

I have searched within the body

And found the ultimate secret (God is in you) (x 2)

The way to salvation

This is a famous quote from Bhaj Govindam a short poem created by Shankaracharya Maharaj

  • One may go to gangasagar(ganes), observe fasts, and give away riches in charity ! Yet, devoid of jnana, nothing can give mukthi even at the end of a hundred births. Stanza attributed to Sureshwaracharya.

It is said that Shankaracharya Maharaj was walking in Kashi and saw an old man. He sang this verse imploring him to turn within. And in the first stanza calls him Moodha. Moodha mate…meaning fool

This translation of Scholars. However a Yogi would translate Moodha mate differently

Every soul reflects a different aspect of Chitta.

What is the chitta? It is the thing that is to be controlled in Yoga. Think of it as the color or mood that the soul assumes. Yoga is chitta vritti nirodha. Control of chitta wave forms or color or mood

Chitta the reflection of the soul has subtle aspects. They are 5 types

  • Moodha – that status is referred to here. It refers to Tamas. The soul when in this mood, just wants to be in deep slumber, not interested in working…or doing anything. This is the inert status, almost like a stone…and there is a certain joy for people. Think of the time you had deep sleep and just loved it. Many people, even the yogis think this was samadhi..since nothing was seen and there was joy. However this is not true. In Samadhi you are in super consciousness and aware of everything
  • Kshipta – The mood here is of Rajas. A form of restlessness. You are constantly on the move looking for something to enjoy…Pleasure…Could be food, sex, driving, nature, travel, listening to music etc
  • Vikshipta – The mood here is Sattwa. Somewhat restrained mood. You want to do good deeds for others etc
  • Ekagra – This is the focused mood which is Samadhi. you are very focused on God ( in the form of light or sound)
  • Nirodha – The highest. Vibrationless. All other above stages are gone. If you can go here for a few seconds in a day, daily, that is enough to help you all day. (According to Vishnu tirthji Maharaj)

Back to the main topic

IF you want to escape, the only way to escape is to know your true self. That is the stage of Nirodha. When the chitta which reflects the soul, stops reflecting, you suddenly know yourself as the divine. Thats all there is to it. You are now liberated.

Any takes?

Is there a soul or multiple souls

Link to Original Document

Let’s face it. Science has progressed. It has progressed a lot ! It can see planets billions of years away and can analyze the body at the magnetic field level

They have done an MRI of every part of the human body. How come they have not seen a soul?

Does it not exist?

My answer, just my Answer is – it belongs to a different dimension. Our technology can’t analyze or go to other dimensions. Out technology can’t see other universes or dimension. It cannot see Heaven. It can’t see beings in heaven.

Now the first step in meditation is to go those dimension. First the subtle world. And then casual world. Then soul level. And then there are three other levels beyond that

It absolutely amazes me When People give me examples of progress based on this Physical world or give me scientific proof in this world.

The only thing that happens is peace in mind. Other things can happen including miracles but that happens only after the other dimensions are perfected.

For now change and improvement in personality, peace, less desires for this world is good enough

However if you feel this world is where you want to look for and pretend you are going within that would be self deception

Rumi – so straight forward

Link to Original Document

You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean, in a drop. Rumi

It seems impossible to comprehend this. Normally we think that God is the ocean and we are a drop or a wave.

Rumi gives us a different perspective. The drop in the second line refers to the dot , the apex of samadhi That is how aum is written. The orange dot above the blue line. See my drawing below

The three colors, yellow, red and black are A and U and M. The blue is Savikalpa called ardha matra. Thus the symbol is a perfect symbol to represent God, the holy trinity and whatever else people generally understand.

He says from that drop we have become the ocean – the wave of multiple thoughts within thoughts to more thoughts And emotion. This indeed is quite vast

There is a more perfect meaning but that meaning is not meant for a public forum but something a teacher can teach his disciple.

Maybe I am wrong

Part 2. Not touch… and thoughts

Link to Original Document

So I said earlier. Thoughts are powerful. Very powerful

And man was made in image of God

Yogananda said, this whole universe is nothing more than thought of God! In a second he can dissolve it and build it up again.

So like God we too have power in our thoughts and words. Use it carefully. Do not hurt others. Help them. Don’t infiltrate it with your poisonous words and actions. Do not carry hostility.

So when you meditate and go deeper and deeper , you can create a palace like Babaji did. Just with a thought.

So with pure consciousness when you reach there, these things happen. It is very far from our current status. Jesus could perform miracles. But we can’t. Many many other great Saints did miracles. This was in part their secret

They have no role in spiritual progress but reveal the need for purity and getting rid of all our worldly thoughts

Why should a yogi not touch

Link to Original Document

There are many Rules a yogi should follow

It is not easy to over come maya. Or Satan. Jesus said get thee behind me. To Satan note that is a yogic technique but more later Many yogi have gone beyond maya or maha maya.

But the battle is long. Difficult. So there were rules that were given

  • Timing of meditation
  • Frequency of meditation
  • When to eat and what to eat
  • Living alone
  • Not to touch others

Most of the others you probably know and you can always ask your Guru. But not to touch others is not only related to sex. Even a general touch Why?

This is because when you become spiritually more in tune, you see that thoughts are not only thinking or conveyed via speech but it is a living power. You can transmit a thought from one person to the other via a power or force. This medium where it travels is called in yoga “payas”. (Good luck finding it on the web) But Devatma Shakti has a good description

So these things when transmitted can get a hold of the other person and change his or her thinking. So being alone and not talking it touching is recommended. You have a tough enough problem with your own thoughts let alone others

In other words what’s app. Social media talking on phone etc can make your progress slow or reverse it

On the other hand talking with a true yogi can be very beneficial

Look at this way , this is an area where you have no experience or little excitement. Some distorted concepts and you are so gullible that even lies seem wonderful. What is the hope ?

So first find someone genuine. And stick to that person

But be careful you don’t fall for a cult.

Remember a yogi will never have a cult or group. His true teaching is only one on one. In private

He does not want many. Just one or Two genuine people. And does not want your money or body

Examine your mind

Link to Original Document

If only you kept a mental diary of your mind

If you observe Your mind (and since we identify with mind and all it’s garbage constantly) we can learn something important.

The mind has two tendencies. One is it likes to dwell on things that are fun. It could be anything. Food, sex, movies, gossiping, procastrinating, just being lazy, debates, being arrogant, boasting, being smug etc. As a result, it likes to do those things and looks forward to doing those things. It bides its time waiting for those things

The second thing is it has a strong aversion for things and it avoids it’s. The four letter word – work. It tries to avoid it. It hates some people. So it looks for ways to avoid them. It hates discomfort, it hates waiting, it hates losing, etc

These are the two kleshas – Raag and Dvesha

Of course, as a result of this, the mind creates strategies, Dwells on strategies to avoid work, trying to procure wealth , strategies in dating, fear managing strategies, trying to schedule the future, strategies in stock market, expand business etc

Now observe your mind. Keep a good diary. What is your mind dwelling on all day?

Well someone might say I meditate and read the Bible or Gita or chant. But you do that , sometimes out of fear or because you enjoy reading them. My blog – you may enjoy reading it. You may want to use it to give lectures or brag.

BUT NONE OF IT WILL HELP YOU.

Why not enjoy the joy of God all around you, within you? Seek that. Don’t enjoy the intellectual knowledge or information!

Now count the seconds we spend thinking of God alone and excluding people and other things in life? Most of our time, love and energy is wasted on other things very few on God. And we wonder why do I not connect with God? Why can’t I see him and talk with him?

Sad. Go straight to God

The greatest gift from God

Link to Original Document

This might be hard to believe

But it is true. The greatest gift from God is not to have any of your wishes fulfilled.

There are many things needed to reach the highest / nirvikalpa samadhi Vivekananda said

  1. A human body
  2. A true living Guru
  3. Desire to be liberated

The hardest is desire to be liberated. Yes we have it. But it is fleeting. Maybe it comes for a few days weeks or months. In some it maybe a few years. But what is needed is life long. If you look at the lives of many People, noticeably the Hollywood and Bollywood actors and actresses – they are so busy enjoying life. They go deeper and deeper in the quick sand of earth And lose sight of God completely. And that is the problem with riches and happiness. You get sucked deeper and deeper into this world.

Now everyone has a different definition of getting God. My definition is getting God , in very simple terms, being constantly aware of God and not wanting anything in this world. Both conditions must be there

So not getting wishes fulfilled or getting fulfilled with difficulty, we raise slowly the futility of the world. And in time it reinforces into a strong desire for God.

However much time is lost finding the right path and method and understanding. And even you have that, then people enjoy the discussion as debate about God and they want to teach others. But no one wants to silence the mind and emotions and logic and understanding of God. – just enjoy his presence without having a tamasic, lazy attitude. And these two things represent the next hurdle

There are not many people who have a sustained interest. Some with interest fall into the wrong steps of debate and reading and understanding. If you really want God stop reading the books too. ( after you know the right things)

Many books written by liberated Guru are not understood properly

For example Vigyan Bhairav. By Abhinav Gupta a thousand years ago was translated by Vijay singh and Laxman Joo Both are scholars in Sanskrit yet their interpretation was entirely wrong ( from my standard)

Here is shloka 79

upavisydasane samyak bahu kytvardhakuicitay ।

kaksavyomni manah kurvan Samam-dyati tallayat ॥79

  1. Sitting on a seat one should Place the arms in

position, and fixing the mind on the void under

pits, it will merge in that (void) and attain peace,

Of course such nonsense, like focusing on the armpit is nonsense. Anyone who follows that will be disappointed

My interpretation is as follows

Upvishaya- without / above desires for the world

Asana – posture.

Sit in the right posture without desires of the senses

Arms bent or curved represents the jyoti mudra. A secret method to quickly see God

Kakshay vyomni. – this refers to brahmar gufa or the secret cave which gyaneshwar Maharaj, Brahma and a, anwar etc described

Meditate there and you mind will be liberated

Please don’t follow the nonsense written by scholars who have no true yoga experience

Be careful

There is a famous Tibetan book called the Tibetan book of the dead

It is written by Sogyal Rinopache. He was a Guru for many years 20 years. He was a great orator. Great sense of humor

And here is the more true behind the scenes story about him

Sogyal Rinpoche Dies; Tibetan Buddhist Lama Felled by Abuse Accusations (Published 2019)

And he was the friend of Dalai Lama !

Isn’t it amazing ? A person writing a book , People fall for it and it turns out he is a violent unhappy person! What an antithesis to Buddhism – a philosophy of love and kindness and peace!

So my friends. Be careful. Just because someone writes well , speaks well does not mean there is truth there. The devil will quote the Bible!

That is why I often say, it is very difficult to know a true Guru

People will swallow you up with logic and quotes from religion. How difficult can that be? Not difficult at all. The Internet has an abundance of information.

In this day and age, people are desperate for solace. Desperate for escape. The emotional burden that people carry is so enormous and they don’t know what to go And they go from a living hell of a world to another hell of organized religion or philosophy! TRAGIC!

Many times have I written, how can you know a true Guru? Very difficult and you don’t have the means. Your logic, your heart will deceive you. Why? In times of pain you are very vulnerable. You become receptive to outside influence! Don’t fall for it! Some of them mean well but that does not mean they know the truth. Throwing big words in Latin or Sanskrit and talking about theory of karma does not mean wisdom

Also a Guru who has departed cannot help you in the spiritual path. YOU MUST HAVE A LIVING GURU. ONE INITIAL ENCOUNTER WHILE HE IS ALIVE. Why? Because there is something, something not where about, that is done or given by the living Guru to help you on the way. That initial “something” is a must.

That “something” is one on one! Not in masses. And a Guru cannot give it to more than a few. That few can vary but it is not in the thousands It is very few.

A Guru Of this caliber does not advertise. He prefers no one knows him. He prefers even the disciple does not know him His actions will be confounding. But if you catch him on a good day, he will cast a Pearl. Something so precious, something unique that would help you ! It will have the ring of truth! Your heart will know , oh of course this is true. I will follow it.

Many a disciples have failed. Even after having a great Guru – the disciples have failed. They did not recognize the Guru and left him and gone for a more traditional Popular person with popular opinion. Or they failed the test of the Guru and Guru gave them nothing

A true Guru does not give much until the disciple passes his test. The test might be harsh. And will not be in the Guru presence. The test can last years to decades. Do you really believe that Advaita is given out like candy? A person with no merit is not worthy. Can you withstand the tides of sex? Food? Do you even want to give them up? Or did you wake up thinking of the joys of this world? And fun that you want in this life?

A worthy person wakes up looking forward to meeting God. He is so determined that God has to appear. He is so patient that he will wait for the Himalayas to crumble His endurance is unrivaled. He cries that Why can I not meet God? Not a cry because of unhappiness in life but a genuine feeling of emptiness.

And when you have that, mind you, such s person who has this daily for decades is rare, then you will get signs of what greatness is. Someone will guide you. Slowly. Surely. The words from his mouth, and yes it is better to hear it rather than reading it, has a certain power that will pull you to God. That pull is very special.

Enough said. Until you really show signs of wanting God, you have to be patient. In time. It will happen. Even a little pull goes a very long way. For the pull to go within is without words. Without imagination. Without any emotion But that is the beginning. Rest of the world has a outward pull / push away from God and they go deeper into the rabbit hole ( matrix)

This word refers to ignorance. What is the cardinal ignorance? You can say that the cardinal ignorance or more appropriately, lack of knowledge is that of God or your self. That is why so many religions and so many opinions. Everyone of them has zero experience of God or self or so miniscule that they preach foolishness.

I am not referring to the ignorance that people talk about in the world. So I am not referring to ignorance of not knowing how to treat a disease or how to solve world political matters or not knowing how to sing.

Those are trivial compared to the cardinal ignorance above

So there are two types of cardinal ignorance or Agyan

Boddha or baudha agyan

Purusha Agyan

Baudha Agyan is is the first thing that we have to get rid off. What is that? That is the agyan or ignorance of not even knowing which are the accurate scriptures and what is the correct method to get back to God. Countless people have spent many lifetimes trying to figure this out. The Christians believe Jesus is the son of God and he is the only way back to God. It says so in the Bible. The Islamic faith believes Mohammed Paigamber was the last prophet. The Vaishnavs believe Krishna is the Supreme Godhead and ISKCON is a classical example of the same. Judaism believes in the Torah, a book which was there before the creation. Swaminarayans believe that Swaminarayan is the highest and they show a video depicting all the layers with Swaminarayan at the highest. They build temples weigh Pramukh swami in Gold and use the fortune to build temples.

I mean no disrespect to any. So the question is who is right and who will you and who should you follow. Every person is very adamant about what they believe in. Sadly they can be entirely wrong but they will stick to it. Do you see why the first step is getting rid of the Baudha Agyan. Which in other words, is picking the right and correct understanding and experience.

So I have my own thinking. I maybe right. I most certainly think I am right. What do I think? Not so fast. Why do you care? You should not even care. This is the right time to leave. What will happen, if you are insecure in your knowledge, you will want to know and then say…no…and go about your usual way. If you are secure in your knowledge..you will read what I have to say, just to justify your anger and throw a debate. Please dont. Just depart. I have no desire to justify or prove. If you think I am stupid and wrong, I accept it. Just let me dwell exactly as I am. I am quite content actually. If you think I am right, then why are you wasting time..reading my blogs? That is so foolish. Look for someone who can awaken and give you the power to be like I am.

After all this, the highest shastras, are the Agamas and trikka. You will not find them easily on the net. And what you will find is wrongly translated in many many places. Why wrong? Because it was translated by those without any experience.

In Hinduism, they say Ganesh loves the laddu. Now if you followed the Agamas, you would know the deeper meaning and say wow. If you do not understand it even though you read it, you will assume, Ganesh as a God, who has preferences for Food. Do you see where i come from? Just because you read something, your interpretation can be very very wrong.

So, sadly…..the billions upon billions people will be stuck in their wrong way and path. And false understanding. They will dance, jump, shout out loud the name of God. I wish I could tell them, God is not deaf. He can hear the walk of an ant, and the sound of every leaf dancing in the wind. No reason to perform antiques.

Best wishes. Like I said, I have my own thoughts. I knew I was crazy. Now you have your proof about it. Hopefully, you will come to your senses and stop reading what I write.

Curiosly

We have lived in ignorance for a long time. You may think you are intelligent and wise. But the roots of ignorance are so deep that you will not be able to shake it

So we may pray. We think using words and giving our sentiment to God is a prayer. It is. But there is a higher prayer. You give yourself to God and say let it be thy will. You might Agree with this but you still have not understood it. Giving yourself means knowing you are the soul. Known by experience and not just logic. That means you no longer think you are the body or think you have a body. Even if it is experienced for a minute

Or you go to a temple or you start chanting. But God is interested in your purity and not idle words where in your heart you want pleasures of the life!

But these things – chanting, rosary, going to temple, using words are so ingrained in us we only accept that. And if anyone gives you the right method you will not give up the other tradition.

Most people will be attracted to someone who agrees with their not so direct methods. And they will continue in that path

Me? I am simple. I go stray to the core. And can only think that as correct. But your old method will not let you grasp what I say. Isn’t that very curious?

Even if you followed and accept what I say, your old habit will not be easy to break. But it is worth while. ! Why remain a beggar and bound when you can know your true higher self , always free?

Curiously, no one wants it. No one one asks that question. Very strange

Arrogance

Link to Original Document

The human mind itself is full of sceptical imaginations, wrong ideas, distrust, ignorance and unhappiness. This ignorance is the cause of distrust, the source of anguish. The human intelligence is an instrument of ignorance. Very often wrong thoughts and false ideas come to it, yet it believes that its ideas alone are true. The mind is not even inclined to consider whether there is any mistake in its thought or, if so, where lies the mistake. When the mistake is pointed out, it does not like to own it and becomes angry and unhappy, yet it derives great pleasure from finding fault with others. When it hears any criticism of others, it immediately accepts that as true without even considering how far it might be true. It is difficult for faith and trust to grow in this type of mind. That is why you must not listen to ordinary human beings or accept their influence within you. If you want to hear the truth, you have to go within you and awaken the psychic being and from there true intelligence will grow in the mind, true emotion and feeling will come to the heart, true inspiration will rise in the vital; the psychic light will bring a new vision of man, objects, circumstances and the world; ignorance of the mind, wrong seeing, incorrect thinking, disbelief and mistrust will cease for ever.

From

Sri Aurobindo, Letters of Sri Aurobindo, Translated from the Original in Bengali.

My comments

These are very enlightening words by Aurobindo. This is the real reason why people can’t find a Guru or even when they find one cannot make progress.

I say many things, all true. But you will only accept only those things that are filtered by your intellect. People are more likely to believe the fake information on the internet than from an enlightened person. If I say something, you will do a Google search to confirm it. Or find a statement from another person like Yogananda or some other source to confirm it

And this is the catch 22. If you don’t do that, you will get trapped by a fake Guru. Right now there is no true Guru out there. There are a few Guru who can awaken your shakti but they can’t take you to the highest.

And if you try to confirm everything A great person says you will not find any book or internet source. So they keep Things hidden.

And on top of this your own mind will play tricks with you.

What is the solution? First find someone who is very advanced. Once you find that person , stop your search and stick to that person. In time that person will accept you and help. It does not happen overnight. A Guru who accepts a disciple readily and accepts a million disciples is most certainly not a Guru. A true Guru has only a few disciples but may have followers. The flowers may think they have a Guru but that is not true. There is something unique and specific that occurs between a Guru disciple. I have alluded to it

It is sad but what is the solution? When the mind can only compare with the physical world and only have imagination of the other worlds or often have vision from a deranged mind – what can be done?

The essential ingredient is missing

What is the essential ingredient?

Sincere interest in escaping from the clutches of earth / death

Lack of interest in enjoying this world

Once those two are established, it becomes easier.

Often times people think they are sincere but they deceive themselves. They want to be a Guru. Collect information. And in the guise of helping others they did their grave deeper.

Such people may not realize it but they are spotted a mile away.

A perfect unit is the Earth. Why do you persist in disremembering her with swords and

boundary-marks?

Obedient and carefree is the Earth. Why are you so full of care and insubordination?

Yet more enduring are you than the Earth, than the Sun and all the spheres in the heavens. All

shall pass away, but you shall not. Why tremble you as leaves in the wind?

If nothing else can make you feel your oneness with the Universe, the Earth alone should make

you feel it. Yet Earth herself is but the mirror wherein your shadows are reflected. Is the

mirror more than the mirrored? Is the shadow cast by a man more than the man?

Rub your eyes and be awake. For you are more than earth. Your destiny is more than to live

and die and to provide abundant food for the ever-hungry jaws of Death. Your destiny is to be

free from living and from dying; from Heaven and Hell and all the warring opposites incumbent

on Duality. Your destiny is to be fruitful vines in the eternally fruitful vineyard of God.

As a living branch of living vine, when buried in the ground, strikes root and ultimately

becomes an independent, grape-bearing vine like its mother with which it remains connected,

so shall Man, the living branch of the Vine Divine, when buried in the soil of his divinity,

becomes a god , remaining permanently one with God.

These are Beautiful lines from the book of Mirdad. A perfect book written by Mikhail Naimy.

Sant samagam durlabh

Lost opportunity

Link to Original Document

One curious thing that happens is when a Brahma gyani – a self realized person is around you, you will fail to recognize him. You may hear stories and he may say things that reveal his greatness but your mind will quickly draw faults around him

On the other hand , those who do not have Brahma gyan will draw the attention of millions and Inspite of seeing blatant flaws people will still flock them

Why is that? It takes a lot of very very good karma from the past to get association with a Brahma gyani and be able to recognize him There are more people within billions and millions but the karma needed to be associated with a Brahma gyani is more In other words it is easier to be a billionaire than to have the association of a Brahma gyani and benefit from him.

There is a famous bhajan by Tulsidas ( the great saint who created Hanuman chalisa)

Taat mile, puni maat mile, such bhraat mile,

juvati sukhdai

Raj mile, gajraj mile, sab saaj mile man vanchit bhai.

Lok mile pariok mile vaikunth mile man vanchit bhai

Durlabh bhai, sant samagam durlabh bhai,

sant samagam duriabh bhai.”

Meaning

You may have a father, a pious mother , a very good brother and a wife that gives you great happiness,

You may become a king, an emperor and you may get all the glories of wealth, every desire of your heart maybe fulfilled

You may get different worlds, go to different heavens,go to vaikunth ( one of the highest heavens) and get everything that you want in that heaven

But more rare than all that is getting satsang with a brahma gyani – a self realized person !

I gave the example of billionaire. Nowadays people only think in term of money and think that is happiness. But that is not true There are people more fortunate than a billionaire, those who have all that money and power in highest heaven but it is more rare to get a Brahma gyani in your life!

It is not that they are not around. Every so often the world is blessed by their presence in public life But to recognize them, remain at their feet and surrendered to them is rare

Like in mathematics, the converse is true. If you have a person with a huge following they probably don’t have Brahma gyan

There are a few exceptions. Like Vivekananda or Yogananda or Neem Karoli Baba. But those who became their disciple is very very few. Yogananda gave awakening to hardly 3-4 people. Same thing with Vivekananda. Yes. I know. You want to disbelieve me. But what you don’t know or understand is that those who had an awakening, is very rare. They hardly speak about it. And to get an awakening after they take samadhi is just not possible

Maybe this difference in understanding is from the simple reason that my standard of awakening is very very high.

You can be happy with a few chafs of wheat, I want the the full lavish meal But that takes time and years and years of hard work. Yogananda also said that. It takes years of hard work.

One must continue hard work in that direction !

Hero worshipping

Link to Original Document

We all tend to hero worship. Sadly. Very sadly. Instead of looking at the value of the statement

This stupidity is very evident in the journalists and media. They will profusely quote and interview stupidity. A new mom in Hollywood and they will print articles about parenting based on the Hollywood stars opinion. Or ask them about their opinion of poverty in Africa etc. Worse still is that there are readers who will religiously follow it All I can say is OMG!

It maybe a book or a person. Many people of fame, religious leaders will quote the yoga sutras of Patanjali, or the Bible or Gita or scriptures like Upanishad or vedas and make a statement

Really? Is that supposed to impress me? Am I too applaud? Seriously? Patanjali wrote at a very high level. The puny mind of the spiritually inept and ignorant people can’t even begin to understand what he meant. The same is true for Gita or Upanishad. So the end result is I am neither impressed by the speaker or the books

Truly, all that you need is within you. Everything in all scriptures can be reproduced with deep meditation. We may not be there but I am a firm believer that meditation can give the answers

So slowly learn to grow. Learn to appreciate the value of the spirituality and the words from spirituality. The spiritual enlightened person does not announce it or let anyone know about it. What he has in him is more than all books put together

Go to them. Learn from the true source. But as long as you hero worship you will not get anywhere in life

Navratri chaitri

Link to Original Document

Today is the beginning of Chaitri Navratri

The Indian calendar is based on the moon. It is more accurate in ways of cosmic vibrations helping an individual

The month that starts today is chaitra The first nine days of this month is navaratri. Nav meaning 9. Ratri meaning nights

So chaitri navratri – is very beneficial for mediation. The navratri in the month of aaso ( last month of the calendar) is more commercialized with singing and dancing and is more well known

During chaitri navratri a few people interested in moksha and purity will eat only fruits and milk products and spend as much time as possible in meditation. You get the most bang for the buck during this time. Meaning a slight effort gives a bigger spiritual boost. The legend goes that this is the day Brahma created the universe. Others say it is the day Rama started his victory over Ravana Some people celebrate today as a new year and call it Gudi padvo Others in south india call it Ugadi

In Maharashtra they use a stick with different colors to celebrate the month. The top of the stick has a earthen pot

But the spiritual meaning is of more importance The stick is Brahma nadi and the pot the head and tells us to go within following the royal path of yoga There is much more to it but some other time

Group or solo meditation

Link to Original Document

Some people advocate meditation in a group. A few people will say meditate alone in the privacy

Those who talk about group meditation say that the collective good thoughts and spiritual vibrations create a powerful force that helps others in meditation and can help the world

Those who believe in solo meditation say that they don’t want a single thought of someone in the room to disturb their meditation

Are you seeing the pattern? How both are true simultaneously? If they are all like minded, strongly motivated to go within then group may be helpful.

Generally speaking, no one wants to go within. Very few if any. When people meditate their thoughts are often on the work they want to accomplish and food or something else after they meditate. These thoughts are difficult to eliminate. Moreover, when you have a trifle of a trifle experience, your mind is active in analyzing the experience or thinking of personal glory or achievement and they think of telling others and comparing it to some science related understanding

This is not even the beginning of spirituality. How can it be said – you are going within when you are thinking of the outside world or even books

The other day I encountered a person who had many genuine spiritual experiences. But the same problem remains. Too much logic or thinking. Sadly people lose all the spiritual vibrations in a few decades and are left with nothing except their ego.

Let us take an example that is more easy to understand. Lets say you are a carpenter. Or a surgeon. You do surgery. You take out gall bladders all the time. After a while, you think you are excellent in taking out gall bladders. You have an occasional complication, but who doesnt. Since you do the surgery all by yourself, and dont ever have time to watch someone else do gall bladder surgery, after a while you become delusional. You think you are the best surgeon and do it so well, and perfectly. Now the anesthesiologist who can give you a different opinion, but since you have nothing to compare, you think you are doing outstanding

The same thing is true in meditation. After a while, your meager, almost non existent experience, you think you are outstanding. You think your level of meditation is as high as Buddha or Mahavir or Shankaracharya etc. Or if not that high, almost that high. And you think you are very good. Almost any question someone asks you, you can give an answer. Sometimes you make up the answer. Actually in almost every case you make up an answer based on reading and wrong impressions. Every time you give an answer you think you are great and greater. And soon, you loose all the awakened shakti that you have.

So even in those with awakened shakti, such fallacies eventually leads to a total collapse of the system. That is why, every awakened shakti path, closes in 3-5 generations. Only those paths that were very closed, hardly known to anyone, continues for thousands and thousands of years. Once exposed, shakti becomes bashful…and hides.

Thats why, Yogananda path or Shivohum tirthji path, all will be here only for a few more years and then get closed, if not already closed. You will observe a watered down, intellectual aspect of the path. But the full fledged awakened shakti, where they can do things like Neem Karoli baba wont be seen. People will no longer accept or even believe in Neem Karoli baba. And that is how Shakti works. In secrecy to being exposed and then hiding again.

When I say closed, I mean someone capable of giving a full awakening. A full awakening is rare. I do not mean any offense to those who are around.

In Mahayoga vigyan – Yogendra Vigyani states it clearly. Inspite of many great experiences, many cannot progress. The mind and its faults prevents their progress. Those who had some experiences, they should know experiences are not a sign of progress. Having repeated experiences with each subsequent experience higher than the previous might be good. I have very strict criteria for myself. Might be even too negative.

Hope all this gives you a better understanding, why in most cases, people with ego, cannot really help others. They end of loosing whatever they have. So a group meditation , it can be a losing business. If you are truly very advanced, why would you want to meditate with those who will distract you with their negative thoughts?

So it is your choice. Meditate alone or in group. Chose wisely

Vivekananda

Link to Original Document

He is a saint of extra ordinary caliber and wisdom. I have written about him elsewhere

His name – Is a combination of two things. Vivek and Ananda.

Ananda means joy

Vivek – generally people think means well behaved / polite In original Sanskrit it means wisdom.

So what kind of wisdom does he refer to ? He referred to discriminatory wisdom. What does that mean? It means accepting God and rejecting anything else that is not God. Of course I have given an explanation that is fit for the public. Those who are more advanced know the deeper meaning

Wisdom or Gyan refers to knowledge or experience of God. You so not have to read a single book or attend any lecture or read anything. That experience appears with deep mediation

Once again as far as I am concerned mediation is the art of getting rid of mind and emotions. Anything else is mere imagination

Vivekananda name was Originally Narendranath Dutta. In his previous birth he was a nearly perfected saint and came to help others He was enlightened by 20
