I used to cry a lot!

When I was 12 years old I started daily prayers. I had my yagnopavit done at age of 8. Now when you get yagnopavit you are told to do 3 Gayatri mala a day ( 108 x 3). Initially I did it but then fell off.
But in 8 grade I started doing it again. And then did Mahimna Stotra. And a few other routine shlokas. I would do this daily before going to school. It is a lot of time for a child to spend before going to school

Somehow I got the strong desire to read Gita. But I was not very proficient in Any other language except English. Somehow someone left a copy of Gita for me in English ( rare in India) it was left in a hotel room. I took it

And then I met dineshuncle. I got very interested in spirituality and in finding a Guru I would cry daily for a Guru. This went on for years. Then I did a very unique and special mala and within a year the Guru appeared. He scolded me I was taken aback. I could not understand his words. My faith was taken aback. But once again dineshuncle rescued me. He explained what Gurudev meant. And then it dawned on me this person is it.
This person is greater than any person ever

My days of crying for a Guru was over. But the mind has various doubts in the way. I tested him from long distance. Many times. Foolishly. But he was kind and did amazing things

I do not recommend anyone test a modern day Guru. There is no one of that caliber right now You will be disappointed. I was just extremely lucky to find my Guru. Put ten levels of Neem Karoli Baba

Anyway then he tested me for 10 years. It was very difficult. But those tests were very needed

Anyway. The point is a true Guru does not readily accept. And it takes time to find one. The disciple has to be tested at many many levels of purity. This brahmavidya is not ordinary. It is wonderful. It is incredible. It is amazing. It is the highest. It is a divine existence. When you get it you know you have it. This is not meant for the masses. Maybe one or two in a few billion people. Many will try. Few will get it.
As it is stated in Gita. We don’t have the necessary purity or love for God. Or the strong enough desire. The desire stronger than sex craving and money craving and the love for your child added together
Ramkrishna had that strong desire. So much he could bear life without God. So when his Guru appeared it took him 3 seconds. He has to wait for many years too for the Guru Totapuri to appear

In the mean time keep working hard. All the great Guru are there They know our efforts. And will send someone in flesh at the right time. Then who knows, all you may need is 3 seconds

And that is the story of my tears
And my tears turned into pearls

Sincere friendship

DID WE MEET BEFORE!

When you love God, you can truly love others. Your perception of souls is pure-like a crystal-clear mirror. Whoever comes before you will be reflected there as he really is.

When you unconditionally love your friends, you will see that divine friendship in them. In my earthly father, and in so many souls on this path, I found that kind of friendship. When we develop friendship with true souls, one day the Friend of all will come and reside in that mansion of friendship. And as you develop true divine friendship, one day you will love all as Christ was the friend of all.

Please pray with me: "O Lord, in the noble character of true friends is Thy wisdom. In their laughter is Thy great smile. In the twinkle in their eyes Thou art looking at me. In their voices Thou art speaking to me. And in their love Thou art loving me. Aum. Peace. Amen."

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
JOURNEY to Self – Realization

Many times when we meet some people we find an instant connection. We cannot explain it. Yogananda said they are probably souls we have encountered in the past.

However there mathematics is daunting. For arguments sake let’s say we have say 1000 past lives. In each life you got or connected to a 100 people as family , friends, work colleagues.
You will not meet all your past acquaintances in the next birth. Some may be in heaven or hell or have gone to other lives not necessarily human. Maybe you encounter 10 of them again Overall ww can speculate 90,000 acquaintances.

But the true number could be a lot more. We are only interested in how to recognize them. There are a few ways

  1. instant connections
  2. look deep in their eyes. You may see signs of connection
  3. meditate deeper
  4. sometimes you know the connection when they leave you.

Anyway. One way to escape is by finishing karma with all of them. How? Love them back. No matter what they do. Simple ?

Not so easy. First connect with God and then forgiving becomes easier. Loving them becomes easier. No matter what their fault

Words of Babaji

The Kriya Yoga which I am giving to the world through you in this nineteenth century,” Babaji told Lahiri Mahasaya, “is a revival of the same science which Krishna gave, millenniums ago, to Arjuna, and which was later known to Patanjali, and to Christ, St. John, St. Paul, and other disciples.” . . .

“Give Kriya to all who humbly ask you for help. Repeat to each of your disciples this majestic promise from the Bhagavad-Gita [II:40]: Swalpamapyasya dharmasya trayate mahato bhayat. [‘Even a little practice of this dharma (religious rite or righteous action) will save you from great fear (mahato bhayat)’ — the colossal sufferings inherent in the repeated cycles of birth and death.]” . . .

Babaji has promised to guard and guide all sincere Kriya Yogis in their path toward the Goal. . .

“Whenever anyone utters with reverence the name of Babaji,” Lahiri Mahasaya said, “that devotee attracts an instant spiritual blessing.”

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
Autobiography of a Yogi.

People will miss a few important words

Help all those who humbly ask you. Those words were told to Lahiri Mahasaya.
Most people believe that they are worthy and are unable to be humble. The kind of humility needed is similar to a beggar asking a king for a morsel.
Yes I know. Painful. Truth is we have zero spirituality. I mean zero zero. All the books you have read and scriptures you have memorized are worth nothing.
The fundamental path – sushumna has to be opened.
If you ask is my sushumna open it is not. If you do not know very clearly what sushumna is and what the external manifestation is then you still have a few steps to take
Kriya requires this essential step. It is not a method or technique alone.

Secondly this knowledge of kriya does not continue for ever. It reveals itself for 2-3 generations and then disappears. Why? Disciples become egotistic, proud, and without any information start preaching. Right now every other person on the blog talks about kriya. Proud and Smug. And stuck with incomplete knowledge. Refusing to go forward

This malady is true for all generations of spirituality. A few of my fellow disciples have very foolishly undertaken a self styled title of Guru. One of them has no knowledge, and has gone to darkness. Needless to say such people become very popular

The highest of fellow disciples are totally unknown. Their level is so high, perhaps highest in the world, no one can ever know them. There is nothing we can give them and I have tried to reach them. But what anyone do to get their attention?

Babaji responds instantly to such high people. But they never call upon Babaji! They will endure rather than trouble Babaji even remotely. It is only a loving heart grabs the attention of such people. Loving heart with reverence and purity.

I have written more about Kriya elsewhere in my blogs. But it is not easy to find and I don’t know where it is!

There is more truth to this

Never let life beat you down. Beat life! If you
have a strong will you can overcome all
difficulties. Affirm, even in the midst of trials:
“Danger and I were born together, and I am
more dangerous than danger!” This is a truth you
should always remember; apply it and you will
see that it works. Don’t behave like a cringing
mortal being. You are a child of God!
Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda
(Where There Is Light)

Here Yogananda gives more subtle secrets of creation itself

Thus faith is needed. Both in God and being part of Gods creation. He has to protect

May not seem like it.
But God is invisible to most isn’t he?

Is earth hell?

Perhaps
But we do like it
And we like coming back again
And our mind seeks pleasure here

Yet we must not forget the misery here. It is enough to have made everyone adult cry. One point of time or another. And I suspect a majority of people have at one point or the other become suicidal. A fleeting thought of sustained. But must not yield to those thoughts. The body – has to bear out its karma. If you seemingly cut it short, the next time you have a body there is a penalty to be Paid. A big one. That’s why scriptures are against it.

When all is seemingly lost , pray deeper. Find a friend. Medications. Mantra. Read books. A mantra. Anything. Or everything. Ask an astrologer when times will change. It will change

Eventually those who hurt you will pay the price. Corollary don’t hurt anyone. Love all

This is what Yogananda said

The material world is spoken of in the scriptures of East and West as “darkness” because therein the effulgent Spirit-essence of all things is obscured. By deep meditation, the devotee gains the divine perception of his spiritual eye at the Christ Consciousness centre in the forehead; in the light of that “single eye” the darkness of delusion is dispelled. He walks in a world that is no longer an environment of gross matter, but a wondrous structure of luminous cosmic energy and intelligence.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
982, The second coming of Christ.

The point he tries to make is you can see The world differently. But first learn to find God within. And then slowly you will discover God outside. In the smiles. In the tears. In the sky. In the mud. In human. In animals in flowers. And in thorns.

Learn the secret.
My prayers for all those who are lost. Hope you find understanding. And the desire to go within. Try incessantly till he answers

How did Babaji build a palace?

There is a constant war. Mind and external circumstances. External situations try to constantly upset the Apple cart of peace. It does it by giving you good things and bad times.
One must keep the mind at peace. Both with good and bad events. When this can be done, the mind has victory over the external world. Now this is not so easy.
And there are many many layers to it. But when all layers are conquered there external world becomes obedient to your wishes.

But start slow. And in simple things. Eventually you will get greater hardship and you can learn tranquility in more and more challenging situations

The harder the situation, the greater the tranquility the greater the progress.

Now who wants all that? It comes with facing hardships too

This is what paramhansa Yogananda said

THE RIGHT ATTITUDE:

According to spiritual science, the attitude of the mind is everything. It is sensible to conquer extreme heat by the use of artificially cooled air, and extreme cold by artificially produced warmth; but while trying to conquer the discomfort externally, train the mind to remind neutral to every condition. Mind is just like blotting paper, which readily takes on the colour of any dye you apply to it.Most minds take on the colour of their environment. But there is no excuse for the mind to be defeated by outer circumstances. If your mental attitude changes constantly under the pressure of tests, you are losing the battle of life.

–Sri Paramahansa Yogananda

The Divine Romance

How do you know your mediation was correct??

Everyone thinks they meditate well. Even perfect. They feel joy because they fell asleep
But that is not mediation
There are a few things

  1. Sushumna opens. That is the first step.
  2. Now that it is open, your prana can turn within and ascend the staircase to heaven

How do you know your prana ascended
This is what Paramhansa Yogananda said

The devotee who masters the technique of yoga meditation knows that when concentration becomes interiorized he finds his life force and attention withdrawn from the motor nerves, sensory nerves, and heart and accumulated in the subtle astral centre in the coccygeal region of the spine. Then during deep meditation this accumulated life force floats his consciousness upward through the subtle sacral, lumbar, dorsal, cervical, and medullary centres to the highest centre of divine perception, the abode of Spirit in the thousand-petalled lotus of light and consciousness in the brain.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
973, The second coming of Christ.

Such yogi are extremely rare
Don’t deceive yourself into fake mediation
These steps are universal.

Enemies or friend

SPIRITUAL SELFISHNESS VERSUS EVIL SELFISHNESS

In this world there are two teachers. If you take God as your mentor, you will have a wonderful time; but if you choose the devil as your guide, you will have bullets of misery. The key word for most people as they go through life is "myself." The spiritual man, on the other hand, thinks equally of others. Those who think only of themselves attract enmity from their associates. But those who are thoughtful find others wanting to be thoughtful of them. If there are one hundred people in a town and each one is trying to take from the other, each one has ninety-nine enemies. But if each one is trying to help the other, each one has ninety-nine friends.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
JOURNEY to Self – Realization

The only problem with God as mentor, you need to recognize God The sure way God comes to us is as a Guru.

What if you can’t recognize a Guru ? Yes. It is difficult. Yogananda could not recognize Yukteshwar as a Guru. He had to be told. And a Guru does not come and show his full glory right away. He just won’t. Slowly he reveals more and more

So what next? Circumstances can be your Guru or God. We learn from our mistakes. Often times people will warn us. Friends can warn us not to do things. They guide. We have to be alert. Follow the scriptures if in doubt.

Don’t justify bad behavior without any scriptural guidance.

But the biggest guide is to learn not to be selfish and hang around people who are not selfish. Be around those are willing to sacrifice things for each other

In the long run selfish behavior – especially the need to fight back based on ego is the worst

I have seen many fellow disciples egotistically stuck and following the wrong path merely based on the ego that they know , no one else knows as much as I do, and they know the right person to follow.
Sadly they were wrong on all counts

Such ego leads to the demise of their spiritual path. For many many births

This is true even for a readers of the blog. Their own ego prevents them from grasping or asking the right Technique.

So sad

The problem with good people

The problem with good people is they are naive They don’t realize there is evil all around them. After all this is the satanic delusion , maya.
People around you are pre programmed in a different way
They don’t believe is courtesy always. They want to use good people constantly. Manipulate them. And if your slightly happy they want to upset you in a variety of ways
This is the norm of life

Once in a while a good person may Encounter another good person but by now they are skeptical of goodness. We look at niceness and wonder what does he or she want?

The moral is you should be good. Loving caring. But don’t be naive or stupid. Be aware of the pitfalls in life. It is constant and to be expected

You are not here as an avatar to change someone. You are here to learn your own self. For liberation from these headaches

My Gautamuncle said – do not ever try to correct your spouse. You will spend all your life trying to improve your spouse and then in the next birth he or she will Marry someone else and get the benefit of an improved personality!

Let them be. Don’t correct anyone. Be loyal to your goal. Of God

If God is everywhere how can I see him

You using the wrong equipment!

You can understand that he is everywhere. You can imagine he is everywhere

But what I am talking is about us seeing him everywhere

To do that you need to stop using your eyes and use your intuition like Paramhansa Yogananda said.

In his own words

WHAT IS TRUTH?

The ultimate Truth is God; and God is the ultimate Truth. The universe is upheld by this Truth through the operation of the Lord's cosmic laws. These laws are basic truths that are eternal and not subject to man's manipulation.

So how are you going to find the truth, the reality that lies behind what the senses perceive? You cannot do it by your rationalizing mind, because your mind falls victim to the senses; it only infers about what the senses tell it. The mind therefore does not comprehend the infinite forces that are dancing all around. Only by the development of intuition can you know what is truth. Intuition is direct perception. It is the all-knowing pure comprehension of the soul.

The only way to know and to live in truth is to develop the power of intuition. Then you will see that life has a meaning, and that no matter what you are doing the inner voice is guiding you.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
JOURNEY to Self – Realization

So now you have an understanding. But still you will not succeed till you master intuition

There are definite steps to it.

But no one wants to learn them. They just want to understand. This stupid egotistic attitude, that you can do it in your own, all you have to do is understand, do some chanting of krishna or read Bible and become a scholar are indirect slow process

Developing intuition is a different method. What kriya yoga. ? Yes it works – but kriya yoga of what you read and do and what is the truth is very very distant.

I have talked with many many people on the spiritual path. Those who have encountered siddha directly. Yet they still get it wrong. Very incomplete

That’s why a guide is needed. Until you are ready, The process may seem very complex, frustrating. Hence some path manipulate others with words saying you only have to do mantra, or do chanting or do nidhidhayasan ( introspection) or just watch your breath ( this includes kriya )

The life of the enlightened

Christlike souls use their divine power like the Heavenly Father, only to win, never to harm, God’s erroneous children. Darkness can be dispelled only by light. Sin can be dispelled only by righteousness, nurtured by forgiveness and love, which heals the wounds, the ignorance, and the rage in errant hearts. Jesus set a wondrous example of grand, humble, almighty godliness to light man’s way out of darkness.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
947, The second coming of Christ.

A few things

He uses the word Christlike souls. It means a few things. There are others similar to him
Secondly it means not all soul are at same level Although they are inherently same they are unable to manifest similarly. Seven such levels.

Can you imagine trying to imitate his greatness ? Wrongly crucified. Betrayed by his disciple Judas. Intense pain and yet he had only love

Such a soul is called Prem avatar. A divine manifestation of love

Yogananda was a Prem avatar
His Guru was a Gyan avatar. Incarnation of knowledge
Lahiri Mahasaya was a Yoga avatar. Showing secrets of Yoga and awakening
Vishnutirthji was an incarnation of Purity

And so on.

Be nice

“Every time you think good thoughts, the Kundalini begins to move upward. Every time you hate people or hold harsh thoughts about them, the Kundalini automatically moves downward. When you love others selflessly, or think kind thoughts about them, it moves up the spine.
“Kundalini Is not awakened by techniques alone.”

~ Paramhansa Yogananda

Seems easy. But it is not. Merely repeating That you wish well is not enough. It has to be from the core of your being. Something deep deep down. If you can do that, shakti does not go up , it jumps up. But one must truly want God. And then you see the miracles.

What we do is –
I want my shakti to Awaken. We want it to awaken because we want nice things or have wondrous miracles
I want my shakti to awaken. We read books ( instead of finding a Guru or surrendering to a Guru) The book says be nice.
So we try to be nice to deceive the God

30 Years ago I had tremendous hardship. Gross injustice was done to me. And all the people who I thought were friends were standing with a knife. I had no place to go. But all I asked was to love everyone just like Jesus loved all
12 years later, the person who created the most trauma – came to me seeking help. I never questioned him or asked him what happened. I immediately helped him. And we have become very close

God may get angry but it is to help.

The story of creation

The weaker forms of life were helpless
before aggressive stronger ones, and out
of the struggle to survive came the process
of evolution to higher, more efficient forms.
“Survival of the fittest” seems to us a
terrible law, but in the final analysis it is
not. The animals that are killing each other
are only different manifestations of God’s
thought. While encased in those forms they
do not understand that they are images of
mind. But when the little fish has been
killed by the big fish, its dream form
dissolves back into God’s consciousness,
and the individualized spark of God within
it incarnates in another form of life of
higher evolutionary value than that of its
previous existence as a fish, giving the
soul a greater potential for expression.

Paramahansa Yogananda
[The Divine Romance]

God had a dream. Now the figures in God dream were given a choice, do you want to continue the characters of the dream? And they loved their characters

But ever so often they would want a different character role and go from an insignificant character to a slightly bigger one

All this continues till they reach the coveted role of a human.

Now as this role, they have a big choice – do well and you get that role again. Do poorly and you go down to a lesser role

But the role of human had a big assignment – can you grasp any of the 4 Maha vakyas of the Vedas that you are the dreamer and not the dream ? Aham brahmasmi
Or as said in Bible – know ye not you all are Gods ( Jesus was surprised why do you act so inferior – you are God).

And few reached that goal. It Remained illusion. ….

Any Way you get the meaning!

Is God truly loving?

Why do I ask that?
We suffering everywhere. And in the Bible it is said , God says I am wrath or vengeance shall be mine.

I am sure an avid Bible reader knows about it

This is what Yogananda said

The orthodox notion of eternal hellfire and damnation is an utterly false precept; it arises not from God or His true prophets but from man’s own unforgiving wrath against the evil actions of his brethren. It is nothing but satanic delusion that makes man ascribe to the all-loving God, who is equally the Father of all, a revengeful vindictive spirit that creates hells and purgatories. As Jesus himself pointed out, the truth is that God in His Infinite Love. is helping His children continuously to come back to His eternal king- dom of Bliss.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
931, The second coming of Christ.

Truth his we bring upon our own misery by our own karma No one else’s fault

So God is loving , and forgives. Provided we knock on his door. In the Bible it says knock on my door And I will feast with thee. Or something like that.

That last sentence and all the other sentences describe a technique of mediation.

Best wishes

Savikalpa

BY PRACTICING THE EIGHTFOLD YOGA, the devotee first experiences ecstasy for a short time; by deeper practice he is able to remain divinely entranced for longer periods. The ecstatic state of perception of God without perception of the universe is called savikalpa samadhi or samprajnata samadhi. It is seldom, if ever, possible for a yogi to remain during his entire lifetime in the bodily inactive state of savikalpa samadhi.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
6 : 15, God talks with Arjuna,
The Bhagavad Gita

The definition of savikalpa varies by the lineage
So be careful not to interpret one from one book and other from another book

Here Paramhansa Yogananda uses savikalpa as merging into God
Other books call savikalpa as divine experiences where you have talks with Jesus, Krishna, Shankar Bhagwan, different Gurus , dattratayea etc

Eightfold yoga has been used by both Buddhism and Hindus
Newer people love putting their claim to fame also

Patanjali is the person who talked about it in Hinduism
In Buddhism , Buddha

Patanjali predates Buddha

Now in both lineage they claim they go beyond Buddha and Krishna or patanjali

Thus the debate is forever. Vivekananda discusses Buddhism in his books
So does Vishnutirthji Maharaj in Devatma shakti.

How do you resolve it? Go into samadhi yourself

Otherwise having Futile Debate Is Stupid

Power of vibrations

So vibrations of the soul are very powerful. For Obvious reasons, I will not describe this accurately

But as time passes by, couples tend to look alike, behave similarly. Now psychologists will say it is attraction and love but that is not true. There is something deeper and more powerful.

Here is an article on it

https://www.livescience.com/8384-couples-start.html

Worth reading

What changes is facial expression and facial features
The rest of the body does not change. Right I should clarify
Is the personality change – to a limited degree – is it adjustment and psychology or is it from something else?

Impressive fake Gurus

Why do people get impressed with fake Gurus ?

Several reasons

  1. The seeker is not truly interested in God. So he will get impressed by logic
  2. Ok what about the miracles? Do you think hydroxychlooroquine worked for covid -19 ? No. Yes millions of people squire by it! Placebo effect.
3). Our own thoughts empower the feeling that the fake Guru is a true one A true Guru will break your thoughts process he is great and want you to realize his greatness from your efforts of mediation and inner consciousness. He wants your inner conscious to be pure and then you will know his greatness. He is not interested in your praises. He is interested in your progress.
4). Our past bad karma leads us to the fake Gurus. In our past lives many of us have erred. In many cases people hindered the true Guru. Even hated their purity because we were bent on our set wrong thoughts. I see this occurring even now. Shakti will then say – fine. Follow your dark path. Now they have set themselves for a downward spiral. So sad
  3. The time for moksha is not right
6). Elsewhere I mentioned the types of soul. All soul are equal. But types are based on whether they are ready to go within

On Becoming a Guru

Today is a fine sunny morning! Beautiful weather predicted.
And you think, I have read a lot. I even have a few spiritual experiences. I know a lot

And you contemplate. Suddenly you think aah I should share my knowledge. Write a book, blog. Now I am ready and entitled to be a Guru !!!! 😁

Isn’t it that wonderful! Now I can make money, hold important conferences, charge fees , have TV time, many reporters will want interviews, thousands of people will seek advice on many things!

Fantastic! My life is a success

Just one question – where is God in this equation?

Idiots. Fools. Stupid.

That is the path of all fake Gurus

Now what is the path of a true Guru

He finds a true Guru. Meditates in solitude. For years. His Guru orders him to be a Guru. He refuses. Many other enlightened immortal beings will tell him to be Guru. Shakti herself tells him to be a Guru. He still refuses. Then circumstances happen. A true disciple comes from nowhere. Now, moved with compassion he guides the true disciple. With a warning never to reveal this ultimate secret. But in time the word goes out to a few people.
As soon as many people find out he leaves. Often times at will. In a second. Just drops the body.
His only interest was God or knowing that there never was any difference. He laughs. Waves after waves of love. Joy. In those waves – what can he do?

I can’t reveal more. Such Gurus are very rare. May appear every 100 – 200 years or so. We can’t offer them anything. They will only help a few who are Perfectly ready

Rest of the world will be satisfied with the fakes. But not a true disciple. A true disciple intuitively knows this is perfection and settles at the feet of the perfect one

Light

YOU ARE LIGHT, YOU ARE JOY

Darkness may reign in a cave for thousands of years, but bring in the light, and the darkness vanishes as though it had never been. Similarly, no matter what your defects, they are yours no longer when you bring in the light of goodness. So great is the light of the soul that incarnations of evil cannot destroy it. But the self-created temporary darkness of evil makes the soul miserable because you suffer in that darkness. You can drive it away by opening your spiritual eye in deep meditation, filling your consciousness with its all-revealing divine light.

No one else can save you. You are your own savior as soon as you realize:

“I am Light Itself. Darkness was never meant for me; it can never cover the light of my soul.”

Generally , I restrict myself to words of Yogananda or Yukteshwar or Lahiri Mahasaya

Why? The words of those not fully enlightened can have slight errors.

Light – of Atman While soul is the spark Otherwise the above is very accurate
Spiritual eye – generally thought of as Agna Chakra
Opening it is not that easy.
The light once there does not stay there. It takes time to have it steady. A flickering lamp is a start. Then a bulb, then a sun, then millions of sun together and then…..

You get the point. There are many many many steps. All of which are not written in text books.

Baby steps are revealed.

Fakes are abundant

On several occasions Paramahansa Yogananda told his disciples: “After my passing, many ‘mediums’ will say they are in touch with me and are receiving my ‘messages’ for the world.  All such statements are false.
“My message for the world has been expounded in my speeches, classes, and writings.  Do not be misled by persons who, after my physical departure from the earth, will assert that they are receiving new teachings from me.  To sincere seekers who in prayer request my help, I will always give it gladly and silently.”
Paramahansa Yogananda, God Talks With Arjuna

No prophet is allowed by God to remain on earth before the public gaze forever.   Mahavatar Babaji has kept his body indefinitely, but he is not permitted to flaunt that special dispensation before the world.  That is why he is not available to mankind, except through the silent bestowal of his blessings.  Though ever-living, he is ever-hiding.*
SeeAutobiography of a Yogi*, Chapter 33.
The Second Coming of Christ]

Remember this. !

This is true. Once any path us exposed fully to the public – then Shakti diminishes. Why?
That divine shakti demands purity of heart and perfection. Where is the perfection in this world that she can remain public?

Often times I have been asked why do I write? The answer is simple. I write it for my kids. Do not bother reading my blogs or talking with me! There are many very famous Gurus out there. With millions and millions of dollars
What can I possibly want from anyone in this world? The world offers nothing. I exist to serve and help others
Like it is said in the Bible. The harvest is plenty the laborers are few

Is this an Ordinary simple statement?

You cannot be free unless you have burned the seeds of past actions in the fire of wisdom and meditation.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
“Yogoda Satsanga annual-series booklet”

This is a profound statement! It gives a complete solution!

  1. Karma – until all karma is destroyed you can’t escape
  2. Reading this is karma. Breathing is karma. Walking is karma is karma. Not walking is karma. Eating is karma. Not eating is karma How do you perform karma without accumulating karma? There is a trick to it
  3. Karma can be destroyed in 4 ways. Paramhansa Yogananda describes two ways – Fire of wisdom. That is samadhi. Saying you are shiv or you are that Is merely the slightest of slight baby step. Experiencing truth is wisdom. I have mentioned and described it in detail elsewhere. In this wisdom the body is lifeless, and there is not a single thought The second step is mediation. So before you reach full Samadhi, if you mediate with a few tricks, you can destroy karma.

Hope this explains everything!

There is only so much spirituality you can handle

Like I mentioned there are 7 soul types. Somewhere in previous blog

People can only handle spirituality only to a certain degree. Based on past and soul type

What do I mean?

1). Let’s say you believe in God. A figure. And you do good deeds. Can you handle being with God for eternity. Just sitting at his feet in love ? Of course not. You will at some point have thoughts of eating and mating and talking So if that is your concept of Heaven you are not ready ! But you will say I want to do good things in heaven. Help people on earth I know this is a bit of a shocker, God is fully capable of doing all things. Your ego will prevent you, your bodily consciousness and your mind will refuse an eternity of a life in heaven.
2) let’s say your not religious like above and your spiritual. You love reading about spiritual progress, hearing from saints, reading books from enlightened people , reading my blogs. Yet, after a while you mind will get tired ( for the most part – I know a few exceptions) and you can’t absorb or hear spiritual things any more. You just need a break The duration of the break and the length you can remain immersed varies
3) Now let’s say you can hear and read Spirituality all day. You want to make progress. You meditate increasingly many hours a day. But in order to make your emotional status stronger, mind stronger, destroy your ego – guess what hardships in life will come. Sometimes with ferocious intensity. It is designed to take you to your limit. So now this is a different level of intensity that someone on the path can handle.
I must confess, at the feet of Gurudev , I told him I am very weak and can’t handle much. He told me it is very important to grow strong and pointed out DNB – said look at him You will never know how much he has endured. And that is true. Even now when I talk with him no matter what he is always peaceful and joyous. Just a few minutes , even in silence is helpful

There is a second side to the hardship. You need a Guru. He can help you with the hardships. My taking it away – dissolving it.

Now what does the aspirants do with their hardship – if the Guru is not in physical body?

  1. The disciple can visit his samadhi
2)There are great places of pilgrimage or saints like – Shirdi Sai Baba, Neem Karoli Baba who intercede if needed. It is difficult to grab their attention. An intensity with love is needed. An awakened shakti draws their attention immediately.
  2. certain mantras can help. Provided if given by an enlightened person

So growing up , getting stronger is a slow process. You can’t get stronger by imaginary spirituality. Nor can you get stronger by reading books. Your mind has to transform. And that transformation is done by awakening of shakti !

Like I said , there is only so much spirituality you can handle

Relaxation in sleep and while awake

Relaxation in sleep……
“””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””
During sleep, there is involuntary relaxation of energy from the motor and sensory nerves. Through practice, one can produce this relaxation during walking state also,at will. In big the sleep of death, there is total relaxation—the retirement of energy from heart and cerebrospinal axis. By deep meditation, this complete relaxation may be produced consciously in the walking state. In other words, every involuntary function may be accomplished voluntary and consciously by practice….
Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda.
Man’s Eternal Quest… Page 213.

However there is a lot more that happens. As we relax , the prana goes into a special naadi Once it is there – the body conscious is automatically lass lost. Rest of the body nerves are finally sedate. The constant firing of the sensory and motor notices ceases. The body gets it much needed rest

Now what a yogi does is learns to relax all the nerves in mediation and his prana goes in brahmanadi ! This is the first step in true mediation.

Why is it that people get tired in mediation. It is because this crucial step has not been learnt. It takes it time.

Once we master it in mediation, then we master the technique while engaged in worldly activity. Those people are much higher. They have many gifts which can change and help others

How to cultivate faith

Faith is known as Shraddha. If you read Prashnouponishad, you will realize that faith is the second step in creation. In its core, faith is the soul is immortal. You may know it. But yet, the long standing attachment to body , we constantly are afraid. We believe in heaven and hell. But in that case the body dies there is something else that lives and God to heaven or hell.
So to really understand faith you have to reach the soul.
The most powerful statement I have is in the Bible

Matthew 17:20
Verse Concepts
And He *said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you

Source: https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Mountains-Removed

Yet with the slightest bit of hardship we falter. Forget parting the Red Sea or moving mountains, we worry about was that sneeze cancer? And how much faith do we need? Mustard seed – minuscule.

So how can we grow in faith? I want to move mountains!!! yeah sure! I was making fun. But all great miracles came from faith. Why are some people better than others in faith ? How can I change ?

Answer is slowly. There are certain secret mediation techniques that speed it up. But here is an excellent guideline from Paramhansa Yogananda

There is a way to cultivate belief until it becomes faith or absolute conviction. Belief is the initial recipient attitude of the mind necessary or planting the seed of a hoped-for outcome. As a successtul farmer earns the laws of planting for a good harvest, so a truth-seeking individual must learn how to cultivate the soil of belief so that it may yield the desired result. When the seed of his aspiration is continuously watered with belief in the Self and in the intercession of a master-as when the disciples appealed to Jesus—it sprouts into faith that the desired result will inevitably be accomplished.

Inner victory

As long as you come back to earth, in any shape size or gender , you will desire for things in this world.
Inner victory comes in a few steps

  1. learn that material desires are not fulfilling
  2. learn that there is more substantial happiness within. That within some people call it/ him / her God
  3. learn how to give up external attachment and learn to go within. That technique is called mediation or kriya yoga or siddha yoga or Maha yoga
  4. in its final step it is Samadhi. Here all questions are answered. There is no God. Just pure consciousness. You and God or father were always one. Extremely few reach there

This is what Yogananda said

He who conquers himself is the greatest victor in this battle of life. Money, fame, desires—everything that goes against this ideal is a detriment to our peace and happiness. If people would only learn to concentrate on the real values of life, they would find true happiness; but they are carried away by earthly desires.
I love to see true devotees—those who are anchored in God. Souls who love God will come here, and those whose enthusiasm will last to the end of life will find Him. God Must Come to Those Who Truly Want Him. He must come.
Everybody wants to have more money than the next person, and when he has it he is not satisfied, because he finds there is still someone else who has more than he. People live in a bedlam of misery, created by their own desires. Learn to be satisfied with what you have. God’s way is the easiest way. It is best to go to the Father first and ask Him what is best for you. When you know that He is, and that He awaits you, why should you waste your time on lesser things? Have you ever tried sincerely to see if the Father talks to you or not? The Lord is speaking to all human beings. What more can He do to attract your attention?.”

Is spirituality for everyone?

NO

India suffered because the principle of non violence and titiksha was applied to the masses. How can a country defend itself if everyone decides and says – oh we will endure and not be violent towards others and forgive our enemies?
Prithviraj Chauhan was foolish in forgiving Mohamed Gazni 16 times in war. In the last war he lost and was executed by Mohammed Gazni
There are many situations where if you do not indulge in aggressive behavior it would be wrong. A king not protecting its citizens You can’t say, I will let the robbers take my money.

The scriptures are very clear. You must follow all your household responsibilities under all circumstances. If someone is hurting your child – defend and protect your child DO NOT CONFUSE THE PRINCIPLES OF SPIRITUALITY WITH FOOLISH CONCEPTS AND NEGLECT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AT HOME

If your spouse likes samosa make it for him/ her. Don’t preach and tell him that enjoying food is not spiritual. There are a few rare souls who are able to transcend the body needs It is not for everyone.

So in other words make progress slowly. This is why a Guru is needed. Each ones progress is individual. The Guru knows which level of soul you are There are seven levels of soul. ( sakala, vigyankala etc). Each level the soul transits slowly from one level to another. And guides accordingly
That’s why a true Guru does not give lectures to masses
That is why I have repeatedly told the blogs are for my children. It is not meant for everyone.

This is what Paramhansa Yogananda said

PEOPLE OF DULL INTELLIGENCE, those who lack keen understanding, are inherently compelled by Nature to be engrossed in the performance of material duties. Illumined beings should not disturb the enactment of material duties by such persons, whose redemption lies through this evolutionary stage. Badly told to embrace the principle of nonattachment to the world, unspiritual people would neglect their material duties. They would fall into sloth, offering their vacant minds as workshops of the devil.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
3 :29, God talks with Arjuna,
The Bhagavad Gita

Kabir

Kabir was a perfected saint , Guru, God
He was born in a poor family , an outcast
He desperately was searching for a Guru. He heard of Guru Ramanand. He approached Ramanand – and Ramanand rejected him. Insulted him. Telling him he is full an outcast family and can’t accept him

But Kabir was determined. He knew a Ramanand was perfected. Now it so happened, Ramanand would go to the river Ganga at early dawn when it was dark. In those days lighting was inadequate. So when Ramanand went to the ghat to dip in Ganga, Kabir hid on the steps. Lying Down horizontally. Hardly visible. Ramanand while climbing the steps, placed his feet unwittingly on Kabir. Kabir grabbed his feet and said now for my Guru.

Ramanand laughed and enlightened Kabir in a matter of months

The salient points –

  1. A Guru will test you
  2. You must persist with a true Guru
  3. Shakti and awakening is not cheap. Not everyone deserves it. Or will get it. Make belief awakening is dime a dozen.
  4. A Guru seeking disciples by the dozens is not a true Guru
  5. A Guru May display ordinary qualities in public but corner them in private and they can show their true form!

Guru

What do you do if

  1. your Guru is not there?
  2. you don’t have a Guru?
  1. Go to his samadhi. Worship him. And his photo. Or his sandals. But also without fail also do pranam to his foremost disciples. In my lineage, Dineshuncle, Kantikaka, kankuben, Niranjankaka are perhaps the foremost. Why? They never went to any other Guru. Meaning they realized the true greatness of Gurudev
  2. Worship some of the foremost saints. Babaji, Saibaba of Shirdi ( that is the only Saibaba) Neem Karolibaba.

The problem is no matter how much I tell you, you will never appreciate a Guru until you yourself become or go into Samadhi. All his miracles pale compared to the miracle of taking a pot of clay and turning it into gold ( ignorant disciple into a perfected person) In one life.

Words cannot describe the greatness of a true Guru.

Gurupurnima

Last weekend was one of the most auspicious days. It is called Gurupurnima. Purnima means full moon. Guru is the word used to refer to a spiritual teacher. I am talking of a perfected spiritual teacher whose level of experience is similar to Babaji, or Ramana Maharshi or RamKrishna Paramhansa

So how is it observed?

On that day, people go to visit their Guru. If the cannot go there, they will either call or send an email or a letter. They will then worship the Guru like God. The focus is on the feet of the Guru, right feet and right toe. They will then do an arti of the Guru. Arti is where they take a lit up diya, and worship the Guru – like God.

Now, this will seem abnormal and maybe to some even wrong. Wrong for people to do it and wrong for the Guru to receive it.

However, that is why I talked about a Guru at the level of Babaji. Or Parmanand tirthji. Or Gorakhnath. When they go into Samadhi, the sense of body is lost and in that pure consciousness, all questions are answered. The sense of seeking God is lost. It is over. I cannot describe this state in public because the fake people will use it and lie about their experience. So the experience of samadhi has been designed in such a way…even if someone wanted to describe it, they cannot

Now, a person who is in that state, what difference does it make for that person, if you worship him or not? He does not care.

But for the disciple, it is very important to follow the ceremony. Why? A person who has experienced Samadhi is no ordinary person. During that day, Shakti blossoms like the full moon. It blossoms through the Guru. It is like a day when she has opened all her treasures, for anyone to take, just up for grabs. The only condition is humility and surrender to the perfected Guru. With Reverence. With love.

Not an ordinary or easy feat to achieve.

Lastly, this is not a ritual or a formality. The Guru, is greater than God. God cannot absolve karma. A Guru can. He can take the karmas on himself, and let the disciple not suffer. Shankar bhagwan, gets angry when the Guru is not respected. But a Guru will intercede and forgive the disciple..

This happened many times in the past. I have seen this happen too.

Kabir has a shloka,

Guru govind dono khade, kisko laago paye
Balihari Guru ki jinhone mohe Govind dikhaya

Guru and Krishna are both standing together. Who would you worship first? The answer is Guru, because he showed you Krishna.

The disciples of Shankaracharya, were at such a high level, they would not bow to anyone except their Guru. No matter who appeared in front of them – it could be Ram or Krishna. Or any great saint. It did not matter.

Truth is such a Guru is hard to find.

Old poem

Freedom

Trapped by ego
trapped by thy mind
Trapped by emotions
Trapped in thy body.
Learn to be a master
No longer a slave
Either to mind
Or body.
Know thy spirit
And freedom reigns.

So light
And sprite
Is thy spirit.
Why shackle it
With ego.
Know thy spirit
And freedom reigns

Beware
Of false vanity
Of false knowledge
Of knowing thy spirit
True knowledge of spirt
Hath no ego
Joy it has
Love for all
It takes thy breath away.
Know thy spirit
And freedom reigns

The secret given
The knot revealed.
Know thy spirit
And freedom reigns.

Bhavin

Poverty

“What you are is much greater than anyone or anything else you have ever yearned for. The spirit is exhaustless Bliss. You are carrying within your heart a portable paradise.
The more you concentrate on the outside, the less you will know of the inner glory of the everlasting joy of the spirit. The more you concentrate within, the less you will have of difficulties without.
It is spiritual poverty, not material lack, that lies at the core of all human suffering.”

~ Paramahansa Yogananda
(Source: Autobiography of a Yogi)

The problem is everyone seeks and relies on happiness externally
A little more money
A little fame or recognition
Just a little appreciation
Just one more great meal. Or something sexually
I want to see this beautiful country
Just want to spend more time with so and so

Look at your own list. Isn’t it all external ?
This is why all the millionaires and billionaires are still poor. Look at the sad lives of Hollywood or Bollywood famous people. Or sports stars. Or athletes

They look for something outside. And pursue it

There is no end to it.

You read my blogs. You want something internal. And you think you can just give it up. And meditate. Or maybe if you find Babaji or a great saint you will have instant success.

Sadly that is not true. This is your battle. A guru can give you the weapons. But you have to slay your own demons. Your own desires. Your tendency to seek external.

And that is exactly what a Guru does. Gives you the ability to slay your demons. But you t flight them

There is no such thing as instant success. If I stay in touch with Guru he can give you tricks to defeat your enemy. Staying around them you learn tricks. He helps you.

If you like to eat pizza And you can’t. You keep thinking it is not spiritual. And your mind understands. But the mind is not defeated. You are reaching a compromise with your mind. That is not success over the mind. If you negotiate with your mind , that is the victory of the mind

A yogi says , oh mr mind. I will not give into your demand. You’re the villain. You’re the devil. I just refuse to indulge in what you demand. And that is Sayam.

Negotiation with mind is temporary truce in favor of the mind. That is nigrah or suppression of the mind

Whenever the opportunity arises the mind will pounce upon you with twice the strength

Read this a few times. Ponder

Think why you fail

This continues for birth after birth. All the religions tell you how to be. But they do not tell you how to be that way

You read great statements. We love them. But following it – hardly anyone does.

So why applaud? True applause is when you can follow it

Defeat your mind. Learn to live from within. Not outside.

Victory

Man’s freedom is final and immediate, if he so wills;

it depends not on outer but inner victories.

Paramahansa Yogananda

Autobiography of a Yogi

So what is this freedom?

Pure consciousness is limited by 5 kleshas which leads toleads to the illusion of soul that is encased in three bodies – gross, subtle and causal

Freedom is to cut through these three bodies and realize you are beyond them and beyond even the forces of maya

That is freedom. To know yourself. Above Maya.

But first you have to go beyond three bodies and the kleshas
Ignorance,ego , love hate, attachment ( abhinivesh)

Science of fields part 1

Here is an interesting article. It talks about a patient who lost his eyesight but could still navigate around a complex maze ! This is not some hocus pocus or saint blessings by just an extension of …..
How ? Scientifically impossible.
The author here considers it as anextension of consciousness

But it is not. It is an extension of prana. Every object has prana. It is constantly sounding its presence as prana. If only we become aware of that – we can see things without eyesight

Now this is just a matter beginning of the true sight. In true deep meditation, you can slowly learn to see your own past or future. But those people are rare. More mobs you, These trivial things are still not close to god but it gives us proof that beyond human logic and senses and science there is something unexplainable

Here is the article

An interesting story

Nevertheless, because she received much
special attention, Radha became filled with
pride. So one day the Lord Krishna said to
her, ” Let us steal away together.” He played
on her vanity, making her think he wanted
to be alone with her. She was feeling very
happy and favoured. They walked some
distance, and Krishna wasn’t at all inclined
to stop for rest. Finally the weary Radha
suggested, “Here is a nice place to sit for
a while.” Krishna looked disinterested and
replied, ” Let us find a better spot.” They
walked and walked. At last the exhausted
Radha complained, “I cannot walk any
further.” Krishna said, “All right, do you want
me to carry you?” This very much pleased
Radha’s vanity. But even as she sprang to
his back, lo! Krishna was gone; she fell in
a heap of ground. Her pride shattered, on
her knees she humbly cried, “My beloved
Lord, I was wrong in wanting to possess
and control you. Please forgive me.”
Krishna reappeared and blessed her. Radha
had learned a great lesson that day. It was
a grievous error to look upon the Master
as an ordinary man, to be ensnared and
controlled by feminine wiles. She realised
that the Master was interested not in
her form, but in her soul.

Paramahansa Yogananda
[The Divine Romance]

This is the art of a Guru. Ordinary human relations should not work on correcting the faults of others

We have ample faults of ourselves. We should focus on correcting them. If you have a living Guru , he will work on your faults at appropriate times

There is a great story of Gorakhnath where he thought his Guru has fallen in clutches of Maya. However he was very mistaken. His Guru was ever free and Merely wanted to remove the ego of Gorakhnath

Ego is removed at a later stage. Not early. There are many other layers under it. Of emotion. Attachment. Desires. Anger. Greed. They have to be worked on. Then the desire for intellectual understanding of spirituality rather than experiencing divine bliss is an issue.

Oh well. Few will be fortunate to have a Guru to work on you one on one. That is the best. Did I mention there are many Guru with millions of followers and likes on their web pages? Why go to a Guru with only a few disciples – after all in democracy popular vote is the way !

Such great Guru do not accept a disciple easily either.

Ashtavakra Gita

Ashtavakra was enlightened. There is a story he was enlightened even before he was born. When in his mothers womb, his father would recite the vedas and shlokas and would make mistakes. Ashtavakra would wince and his body would twist in mothers womb. So when he was born, he had 8 parts of his body crooked

Janak raja was a great rishi. He was a king. There were some minor issues that held back his enlightenment. Ashtavakra saw those deficiencies and came to his palace for the exclusive purpose of getting rid of those minor flaws. Now mind you,Janak raja was extremely advanced. He was following Raja yoga, the king of all yogas.

What follows is the highest of dialogue between him and Ashtavakra. Every paragraph is loaded the highest wisdom. Paramhansa Yogananda extolled it and wrote wrote about it also.

This is the 8 chapter of Ashtavakra – It has only 4 verses. But it is enough for us to realize who is liberated.

Chapter 8

Ashtavakra: Bondage is when the mind longs for something,
grieves about something, rejects something, holds on to
something is pleased about something or displeased about
something

तदा मुक्तिर्यदा चित्तं न वांछति न शोचति ।
न मुंचति न गृण्हाति न हृष्यति न कुप्यति ॥ ८-२॥

Liberation is when the mind does not long for anything, grieve
about anything, reject anything, or hold on to anything, and is
not pleased about anything or displeased about anything.

तदा बन्धो यदा चित्तं सक्तं काश्वपि दृष्टिषु ।
तदा मोक्षो यदा चित्तमसक्तं सर्वदृष्टिषु ॥ ८-३॥

Bondage is when the mind is tangled in one of the senses, and
liberation is when the mind is not tangled in any of the senses.

यदा नाहं तदा मोक्षो यदाह बन्धनं तदा ।
मत्वेति हेलया किंचिन्मा गृहाण विमुंच मा ॥ ८-४॥

When there is no “me” that is liberation, and when there is “me”
there is bondage. Consider this carefully, and neither hold on nor
reject.

Very beautiful. This should leave no doubt in the readers mind

Now, let me ask you this, do you like movies? Perhaps you may enjoy Star Wars or Star trek? And the shows talk about space travel and the wonders
Many people will love it and thing it is awesome – those are the people who imagine freedom but dont have it

And contrast that with those who actually travel interseller. Those are the liberated beings

What would you rather have ? – A make believe situation and be under the false illusion of liberation or face the truth, maybe it stings but accept you have not reached there and work hard to get there?

Positive thinking

One of my uncle, Dineshkaka always emphasized positive thinking
He has been instrumental in guiding me in my spiritual path throughout

In this day and age failure in many tasks is common. However like Yogananda, he Always insisted on positive thinking. So even if you repeated fail to ride a bicycle, do we not try again and again – and succeed ?

The same is true many things in our life. So you may ask me , is it true – I want to be like Roger Federer world tennis champion.? Yes and no. Some things require good karma and constant effort. Positive thinking is a mental approach to life Why succumb to depression and anger and frustration? You are the son of God , divine consciousness. Success is your both right!

This is what YoganandaYogananda said

Stubborn mental or physical diseases always have a deep root in the subconsciousness. Illness’ may be cured by pulling out its hidden roots. That is why all affirmations of the conscious mind should be impressive enough to permeate the subconsciousness, which in turn automatically influences the conscious mind. Strong conscious affirmations thus react on the mind and body through the medium of the subconscious. Still stronger affirmations reach not only the subconscious, but also the superconsciousi mind —the magic storehouse of miraculous powers.

~ Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
“Scientific Healing Affirmations”

One pointed attention or dhayana or mediation

BE DETERMINED WHEN RESTLESS THOUGHTS INVADE THE MIND

So, develop your desire for God; and when you are meditating, every time a distracting thought comes, remember that it is only static. Tune it out. If you are praying to the Heavenly Father, and suddenly you think that you should be in the kitchen working, just say mentally to that intruding distraction: "Get out!" Start meditating again, and affrm: "Heavenly Father, Thou art with me.

Then again you may hear the neighbour playing the piano, and you wonder what kind of piano it is, and the memory thought of Grandma's piano arises, and you begin to wonder where Grandma is and how she is. Your mind has wandered again. Mentally say to those thoughts: "Get out!" And bring your mind back to the techniques. Don't give up.

Throw out all invading thoughts: Oh, what a problem I have with such-and-so! No matter what I do, that person doesn’t respond. "Get out!" This chair is not just right. Let me find some cushions and fix it. “Get out!”

In this manner, the mind will go on wandering from one thing to another for hours, if you permit it! Mentally dismiss such thoughts, with all the force of your will, whenever you catch your mind straying from the object of your concentration in meditation. Pray deeply and intensely until God reveals Himself to you. Do not make a mockery of prayer and meditation. Keep on with ever-increasing concentration "Father, reveal Thyself!" Just keep hammering at the door of silence and He will answer. Only when you have that contact with Him can you ask for anything and know that your prayer will get a response.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
How To Weave God Into Your Daily Life,
3 : 2018, Yogoda Satsanga magazine

True. However there are 2 more missing ingredients to it. One is correct technique of kriya yoga
This of course is kept secret. If it is published or written it is incomplete
Second is the blessings of a Guru

All three are needed.

However even if you don’t have other two or you think you don’t have Other two ( this is a common issue. Some people have it but feel they don’t More common is people think they have it when they don’t have it ) – keep trying.
God at some point has to respond. The burden is on him. If you try and he does not respond !

Hidden enemies

To find freedom from the enslaving power of the senses, the greedy, angry, sensual individual first must avoid the material environment that easily excites his specific psychophysical weakness, and then must kill the inner desires that will otherwise accompany him wherever he goes. The devotee who exercises outward self-restraint and thereby feels secure against temptation should introspectively remind himself: “Perhaps you can easily run away from outer temptations, but can you escape from the inner living photograph of hypnotic eyes of desires that you have created and preserved within yourself? Let not their subtle manipulative power catch you in a moment of vulnerability!” These inimical desires must be brought out from their subconscious hiding places and ‘Slain by the counteracting agents of spiritual perception developed by meditation. The more awareness of lasting inner bliss one attains, the less he is entrapped by desire.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
3 : 41,God talks with Arjuna,
The Bhagavad Gita.

On surface Everyone feels that they have made progress They feel they have conquered anger. They feel they are nice. Kind. Forgiving. Just that they think they are wonderful.

But truth is hardly anyone has accomplished much

I know of a few people. When they had no money they seemed just wonderful. Once they had money and power their true colors came out.

Try putting yourself in a very enticing situation. Now see if your mind is tempted. Or put yourself in front of your favorite food. Are you tempted?

Harder still is dealing with those who offend you. Hurt you. Do you feel comfortable around them as much as you are with those you love? Have you reached that balance?
Are you stitha Pragna ?

The truth is without going into samadhi. Repeatedly. Thousands of times. those deeply engrained faults are not easy to abolish

So the entire process of Yoga goes in several steps

  1. Desire to no longer be a slave to your mind
  2. Figuring out the right method to escape from the slavery of the mind and body
  3. Realizing that yoga is the fastest way
  4. Finding a Guru who can activate the power of shakti to destroy your shackles
  5. Practicing it faithfully till you learn Samadhi
  6. Repeatedly going into samadhi to be free

Most people are in step 1 or 2. Some go to 3. They think they have a Guru. Or got diksha. But such a Guru is very rare and only interested in genuine people who are interested in correcting themselves and not the world. Correcting the world is not your place or role.

Difficulties on the path

This will be in 2 parts

First let me display what Aurobindo wrote

You are quite mistaken in thinking that the possibility of the sunlit path is a discovery or original invention of mine. The very first books of Yoga I read more than thirty years ago spoke of the dark and the sunlit way and emphasised the superiority of the second over the other.
It is not either because I have myself trod the sunlit way or flinched from difficulty and suffering and danger. I have had my full share of these things and the Mother has had ten times her full share. But that was because the finders of the Way had to face these things in order to conquer. No difficulty that can come on the sadhak but has faced us on the path; against many we have had to struggle hundreds of times (in fact, that is an understatement) before we could overcome; many still remain protesting that they have a right until the perfect perfection is there. But we have never consented to admit their inevitable necessity for others. It is in fact to ensure an easier path to others hereafter that we have borne that burden. It was with that object that the Mother once prayed to the Divine that whatever difficulties, dangers, sufferings were necessary for the path might be laid on her rather than on others. It has been so far heard that as a result of daily and terrible struggles for years those who put an entire and sincere confidence in her are able to follow the sunlit path and even those who cannot, yet when they do put the trust find their path suddenly easy and, if it becomes difficult again, it is only when distrust, revolt, abhiman, or other darknesses come upon them. The sunlit path is not altogether a fable.

In short, the path to God is full of difficulties. Mother asked the divine goddess that all the challenges be placed on her rather than the disciples. I am not sure how effective this was but nevertheless difficulties and progress are synonymous.

NO ONE MAKES PROGRESS WITHOUT CHALLENGES AND SIGNIFICANT HARDSHIP

Jesus faced many challenges. To the end. If he took on the sins of the world and disciples none of the subsequent generations ( who believe in him) should suffer. But that is not the case. All of his own direct disciples had significant challenges

If you read the story of every saint , their life was full of many many Hardship. These saints were of such an immense caliber though, all the challenges they faced was not significant to them hence we may not know about them

The corollary is if you have hardship, the divine has chosen you to make progress. Isn’t that wonderful? But you must have faith. Full faith.

Not a doubt in your mind. In the Gita there are 2 words. Sanshayaatma Vinashyate
Those with doubts get destroyed.

Now of course God never destroys anyone. Just the path becomes longer.

If you are sincere and truly want God or truly want to get rid of your slavery to your own mind and body expect hardship on the way but keep your chin up, keep faith for the hardship are the fastest way. May Gods blessings ever be on all those who try even a little

Family

The happiness of one’s own heart alone cannot satisfy the soul; one must try to include, as necessary to one’s own happiness, the happiness of others.

~ Sri Paramahansa Yogananda

This may seem incorrect at first. After all why would a hungry starving person in Africa Make the soul unhappy? Or a child crying for a chocolate candy in USA Make the soul unhappy ( we are all children asking for our candy). Someone else not getting things or suffering from health issues or other things – how does it bother the soul?

The fact that it is not very clear means we do not have the connection with the soul. Or it is very limited

So let’s say something happened to an immediate family member. And you care for the person. Would you not have anguish? Of course you would.
And if you had an even deeper connection, you could actually feel the pain of your family member

But our own limitations prevents us from realizing the universal connection with everyone ! So the great saints, constantly, incessantly help others. When this is reached, you are permitted not to marry. Otherwise, one should marry, learn to feel connection with others – give up selfishness. Learn to sacrifice ourself for family. It is part of spiritual growth. Yes you may succumb to desires of the body, but until your ready to feel love for everyone, take up other people pain as your own, we have our life lessons to learn

Karma

Generally people are narrow minded. They think of karma as amount of money, security, people and relations they get. Usually many people focus on their bad fortune and use it to justify not helping others who suffer

But here is a powerful statement from Yogananda
If you give out love and kindness you will get that in return.

Now you may ask, often times I loved my husband or wife, but they used me. Hurt me. Took me for granted.

So what happens is that often times our love is not really genuine. We may love or show love – because you’re afraid the other person might leave you. Or we love them and show love for subtle manipulative behavior. Or love them for physical pleasure. There could be a million other reasons. But our mind is deceptive. It could be our past lives too.

However the rule – whatever you give out – even if it is just an emotion of anger or anguish or frustration – God simply does not like it. He watches with love our foolishness. But once you bang your hand against the wall we have to endure a little pain.

So can anger or frustration be justifiable? No. But often times it is Maya pushing us to the limit and just a little more! What can we do besides endure? If this is any consolation, if you endure, and minimize frustration, God is very pleased. Plus everyone goes through this repeatedly. And more

The person who spent 20 years to help on Hubble telescope was not given any Hubble times. All Hubble time was given to other scientists. So unfair. Finally the scientist gave up their personal time and gave it to Jeff , I believe his name is. He discovered many secrets to Orion. It is the nursery for creating sun

Such is Life. Always unfair. To most. Some people get very lucky. But most will endure significant unfairness.

Keep that in mind. You will not be so bummed!

God is everywhere but

“Gazing one Sunday morning at the masses of flowers that decorated the church, the Master said, “I thank you for the flowers. God is always pleased to receive flowers because He Himself is beautiful, and He created beauty in the flowers so that they would speak of Him. More than anything else in nature they reveal Him. Through the windows of flowers God peeks His shining face. He says, ‘Seek Me behind the fragrance of the rose.’ And yet He otherwise remains silent. He shows His beauty but doesn’t reveal that He Himself is hidden there.”

Sri Paramahansa Yogananda
“The Masters Said”, 1952

The same thing is with those who are in tune with God
However even when you are around a Guru or God you will not grasp it. You will shun him

Many times Jesus would go to villages and towns. People would shut the door on him. Yet he was an embodiment of love

So in India , Kabir says – look at everyone as God. You just don’t know when he will appear. So love everyone

Why do we fail to recognize him? More about it later

But in short it is our ego.

We restrict and shun God. We project our own limitation on others. Even on God

Take the story of Jesus. The ignorant people say Mary was a temptation for him. How is that possible? He had no desires of the flesh.

Because you can’t do it, you say Jesus could not either? Foolish

Same is true outrage own fault and Guru and other great saints

Wake up. Be pure So you can at least recognize a great person!

Goals of life

If your on the spiritual path – know your true self. The Atman or pure consciousness

If your religious – demand to know God but having him appear while you are still in the body

If your a scientist’s and don’t believe in God – find out what existed before the Big Bang or find out what consciousness is !

Why?

When you find the answer you will be supremely joyous. You will be at peace. Many difficulties – that existed will have a different appearance

*But it is a personal journey It is something that you have to do.

Wait a minute – you have been talking about Guru and the need for Guru. Now you’re telling me it is a personal journey? Why are you changing your story?

A. I did not change story. Let’s say the quest of finding God or Atman is like hunger for an item from wheat . Now what do you do?

  1. First you have to find seeds
  2. Find suitable land
  3. Plant seed
  4. Add water. Fertilizer
  5. Make sure insects and infections don’t destroy plant
  6. Wait for a season
  7. When the harvest is there you collect it
  8. Grind it into flour
  9. Bake or cook it
  10. You put it on a plate and Eat it

So if you have a Guru – he has done step 1-9 for you. Your oh step ten. You have to make the effort to Eat it. Digest it. The Guru can’t do it for you.

You have to make that effort with intensity and enthusiasm. And grateful to Guru giving it to you. He did steps 1-9. Isn’t that wonderful ?

Now the steps 1-9 Don’t involve school. It is all hard work.
Lectures won’t give you God. Debates won’t either. You have to realize God. Experience God.

The hurdles are our own. After having a Guru. We create our own hurdles. What kind?

  1. I hope the Guru is real
  2. How did he make the meal
  3. Hope I won’t get sick eating it
  4. He put more on the other persons place ( which is never true Always save portion. The other person started to Eat it that’s why the other person Is happier)
  5. I want to Learn how to make this and teach others ( but he does not way to Eat it! Truly stupid don’t you agree? )

In short our own faults stop our remarkable quest and journey

But if you are on the table and there are others who are enjoying the meal you will start nibbling and then eating ( true satsang )

If everyone on the table is distracted, they will distract you and you will not eat ( the rest of the world)

Reading and associating with people who go writhing is very important! They will inspire you.

Have true enthusiasm and even greed for God.
You can’t steal from someone plate. If you try that or get jealous- your Guru will take your plate away

It is your journey

Reincarnation

Something to ponder

Divine Justice and the Law of Reincarnation.
“”””””””””””””‘”””””””””‘””
You may or may not believe in the law of Reincarnation;but if life is the beginning and the end of Human existence,it is impossible to reconcile the enequalities of life with a divine justice. Why is one man born in a rich family, whereas another child poverty-stricken home, only to die of starvation ? Why is one person healthy enough to live 100years , and someone else sick all the time? Why are Eskimo born in the cold north and other people in moderate climate, where the struggle to survive easier ? Why are some babies born blind,or dead ? Why? Why? Why? If you were God, would you do such unjust things? What is the use of reading and living according to scripture,if life is predestined by a whimsical God who deliberately creates being with bodies or brains that are impercfect ?
Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda.
Man’s Eternal quest.page 230.

These are relevant questions
Now there are only three options
1). There is no God. No reincarnation. Just a random draw of luck from nature! Or random dna mutations
2) Believe in God. There is no reincarnation. Just that you are not given a chance in life. Tough luck. God was not in a good mood. You are born in a poor family. Or have a terrible genetic mutation. Or some other issue – autism or something else. After all God can be in a bad mood, can’t he?
3) There is God and reincarnation and karma

What do you think?
I have written a few things on reincarnation and karma elsewhere

How many kriya yogis are there?

Hundreds of thousands, not dozens merely, of Kriya Yogis are needed to bring into manifestation the world of peace and plenty
that awaits men when they have made the proper effort to reestablish their status as sons of the Divine Father….May all men
come to know that there exists a definite, scientific technique of Self-realization for the overcoming of all human misery!”
PARAMAHANSA YOGANANDA
“Autobiography of a Yogi”

So what is corollary?

  1. There is no peace on earth. Anywhere. So the world does not have hundreds of thousands kriya yogis
  2. Then how many are there? So let me ask you this, you join a group. Every group claims to teach kriya yoga or something better. Many accomplished lineages – like Babaji , Narayanturthji, nityananda of Ganeshpuri are there. They did transmit the complete and correct technique to a few But for the lineage to continue, the subsequent generation has to be as great as the founder or more! Otherwise it simply cannot endure the fight with maya. How many generations do we know that continued After Krishna ? Or after Ram? Or after Shukdev? Or after Dattatraya? Or after Gyaneshwar? You get my point. Now these are accomplished lineages. But then there are many newly founded people who claim to have kriya yoga or better. So on paper we have hundred of thousands of kriya yogi but has the tradition truly continued in its full glory?
  3. Now you may say But I have joined an accomplished group and seen / talked with them personally. Attended lectures etc. and when I go there I feel so peaceful. I have the right and perfect thing. I can even teach others. The truth is kriya yoga is a very specific technique. Repeatedly Paramhansa Yogananda said he can’t reveal it in public. So based on that , if anything is printed it is incomplete. It is not something to be revealed. Can others have printed or talked about it? The answer is NO. My understanding is the great founders demand total purity of the individual before the full glory is revealed. Find someone who hates you and has done terrible things to you. Now love them with all your heart. The same love you have for money and kids and sex and children added together. Then the full glory of kriya yoga is revealed. Of course in some paths they have 3 or 4 or 5 levels and many are given 5. But I talk about something much much higher. I talk about kriya where you have mastery.

The bottom line is – true kriya yogis are rare. This of course is my interpretation. You could argue that how do I know what others do. This is all jealousy or stupidity on my part. And maybe your right.
In that case you can help me – no need to read my blog. Or even attempt to correct me. I am beyond salvation. Bless me with your love and let me be in myself

My blog is not meant for everyone. I wrote them for my kids. I want nothing from anyone. I don’t want some devious or crooked con artist take advantage of them by fake claims, misconstrued spirituality or fall in the clutches of fanatics

If others read this and benefit it would be good too. Inner purity is a must. Not craving bodily desires is a must

When I went to my Gurudev – we would not Eat. We would not sleep ( as much ). It was not meant for lectures either What is there to lecture when God is in front of you!

Like usual I have written things cryptic.

Why knowledge or experience

Knowledge prepares the way to love. You cannot love that which you do not know. Knowledge of God must therefore
precede love for Him. That knowledge comes by practice of Kriya Yoga, the technique that Lahiri Mahasaya gave.
When you know God, you will love Him; and when you love Him, you will surrender yourself to Him.”
PARAMAHANSA YOGANANDA
“Man’s Eternal Quest”

The important points

  1. Knowledge is experience of God
  2. Itdoes not come from reading books or blogs
  3. Yoga is the direct Way.
  4. All yoga is essentially kriya. But it is not what you read or understand
  5. kriya is not a technique. It is a gift from a guru
6)What you read about kriya and you want to learn by reading or debating is like a car without an engine, gas and steering wheel. Good luck
  6. People call kriya by many other names. Kevali, siddha yoga, Maha yoga, etc. Why do you think they are different? You have not truly experienced it
  7. Don’t be desperate to get awakening. First be pure. Want to be pure. Get rid of anger, hatred, jealousy, ego , greed for money and fame. Also want God. Then a Guru miraculously appears. That is God promise. Your efforts are quickly rewarded. The game is over. You are no longer bound
  8. If you continue, then God rewards you with the ultimate gift of love. That is the final thing which God hides – that is what Ramkrishna Paramhansa said

Atma siddhi

How do you know you have established yourself in God?

Many things but the bare basic is as follows as per Paramhansa Yogananda Please not the words obtain at will! Peace when in external turmoil. Those are more Long lasting signs. Sporadic peace is equally important but slowly with patience one must increase it

Per Yogananda

Success is not a simple matter;it cannot be determined merely by the amount of money and material possessions you have. The meaning of success goes far deeper. It can only be measured by the extent to which your inner peace and mental control enable you to be happy under all circumstances. That is real success. When you can look within and your conscience is clear, your reason unprejudiced, your will firm yet flexible, and your discrimination strong; and when you are able to obtain at will the things you need and the things you consider worthwhile, you are success.
Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda.

Cosmology and Aum – an introduction to dark matter and energy

Paramhansa Yukteshwar clearly described Aum. First it is the wave of love and then there is Aum which is 4 things all occurring simultaneously and are identical. They are – space, time, particle and the sound of Aum

Now these things can be easily verified by any disciple when there is awakening of Shakti. This is the first stepping stone to the infinite

So, a Yogi can very easily dwell and learn about theory of relativity and also about the dark matter and energy

We only see 4-5 % of the universe. The remaining part is dark matter and dark energy

So allow me to help the astrophysics. They may or may not be able to confirm this for now, but give it a few decades or a century and the truth will be confirmed
1). Dark matter and energy was created at the same time as the visible universe.
2) There was a single force that became visible universe and dark matter and energy
3) In the first steps of creation, there were the following
A). Quantum particles – quarks and leptons – the corresponding that was produced was the dark matter
B) The interacting forces between quantum particles – dark energy was the larger counter part
C) Intense heat or energy – this is the force that shaped the above 2 based on rapidity of cooling
4) In Heisenbergs principle of uncertainty – states you cannot predict the location or the spin of the electrons for example You can only predict one of the two. Another corollary is You can never predict the Schrodingers cat – whether it is alive or not. (Now recently someone has figured out a way to beat this problem). The same is true for the Dark Energy and Matter. Here the variable will be expansion or collapsing forces. It will appear based on what the quantum particles wants it to be. In this case, The quantum particles are us and our perception. So what will happen (when Euclid is functional) some parts will appear to be moving inwards and some will be expanding. (Expansion or contraction of the universe). In other words, the dark matter and energy, responds to our perceptions and emotions since they are very closely connected from creation. Do you remember the experiment and statement, a boiling egg never boils? This statement is true in quantum. The same principles apply to dark energy and matter

Once the physicists and cosmologist can connect these dots, their scientific progress will be exponential.
Our own behavior and emotions interact with the dark energy and forces Whether that behavior is mere observation or trying to look at it. This energy and matter will hide when observed. The steps to discovering it would be first observing the effect and then observing the interaction at a quantum level.

These forces are known has Mahamaya. The great Yogis like Neem Karoli Baba, Babaji, Shankaracharya have mastery over these forces and hence beyond the laws of physics

A riddle and old poem

Tell me tell me
What it is
No thought no logic
No ego no emotions
Neither life nor death
Who am I ?

Knowledge limits you
Beyond understanding am I
Compassion am I
But I have no compassion
Love I have none
For love am I

Thus spake the great
The riddle to be solved
But It cannot be solved
Cannot be understood
It’s a destination, a goal
Beyond non existence

Bhavin

Bubble of pure consciousness

The Ocean of Spirit has become the little bubble of my soul. Whether floating in birth, or disappearing in death, in the ocean of cosmic awareness the bubble of my life cannot die. I am indestructible consciousness, protected in the bosom of Spirit’s immortality.

~ Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda,
“Metaphysical Meditations”

This is a description of how the yogi feels when he realizes he is pure consciousness. What he did not describe is the serene, joyous that one feels when all body consciousness is lost, where thoughts no longer emerge, for the mind itself is lost

Oh Joy!
